Climate Change(d)?

The actual science, the references to which TSwizzle actively ignores, does not have a political orientation.

No I don't ignore "the actual science"

You do.

Nah, you just don't like it when I point out the obvious flaws in the studies written by activist "scientists" that get presented on here as "science". We've been through this routine numerous times, it is beyond tedious.

It will be a balmy 70f in Santa Monica later today

Who cares?

Wake me up if THAT ever happens!
“Sure Jan” isn’t pointing out flaws*, it’s just flaunting your inability or unwillingness to understand science.
“Activist scientists” are a figment of your science denying imagination.
The inability to comprehend studies doesn’t speak to their flaws, it highlights your anti-science dogmatism.

*neither is “ 🙄

Give me an example of a citation to a scientific article that I have presented of which you have pointed out the obvious flaws.

If you can just one I will consider this statement to have merit.

And then please provide evidence that the author of said article is an “activist”.

How much does it cost to insure your home for wild fires?

Repeating a false statement over and over doesn't make it true. Can you point to even ONE (1) post of yours which approached the topic scientifically? How often do you cite or excerpt from a peer-reviewed journal article?

I missed it. Sorry. Can you link me to your pointing out obvious flaws? My recollection is that you've written "rapture-like cult" a few dozen times, but little else.

I was able to link to that post. Do you have me set to IGNORE? I don't know why else you'd be unable to link.
Anyway your assertion is false. I did NOT ask for a report of Santa Monica temperature. Instead . . .
We've not heard from Santa Monica recently. Might I ask our Santa Monican climatologist to drive up the coast a few miles and report on temperatures there?

I specifically asked you to drive UP the coast, AWAY from Santa Monica a few miles and report on conditions THERE. Did I need to CAPITALIZE key-words, as I've done in this rephrasing?

This was NOT dark humor. Did anyone other than thebeave think I was suggesting, sarcastically or not, that Mr. Swiz was gone forever?
Instead the very next sentence implied I thought Mr. Swiz was reading the thread:

My guess is its still on the warm side in Santa Monica. Maybe if his city and/or house burns down, he'll stop posting here and we can celebrate his misfortune and our gain with a little party. Making this forum as left as possible is always a plus. Whattaya think?

I think it interesting that you equate "believing in science" with "left."
??? Where did I say that? I didn't say anything about science.
Well, then you'll have to clarify your remark. AFAIK our Santa Monican is noted here particularly for his rejection of science; and you proposed to celebrate his house burning down to make the forum more "left." Is there some other way that the Santa Monican is "right" that would lead you to celebrate his loss?
My comment was a sarcastic response to your "dark humor" about a possible looming tragedy for TSwizzle. Which I think a lot of people would be fine with, because he doesn't share the same political orientation as themselves.

Confused. You seem to be very confused. WHICH comment by you was sarcastic? Surely not "??? Where did I say that? I didn't say anything about science.", no? An in that case, you have overlooked the query I posed to you, shown above in red. What gives? Can't you follow a train of thought?

I suppose that both thebeave and Mr. Swiz are far too intelligent to actually support Donald Trump. But each of them has been seen to fall for foolish right-wing memes from time to time.

You accuse my ordinary remark of being "dark humor", wishing ill on Mr. Swiz. But YOU came up with that. Then you pretend to forget that Swiz, a least in this thread, continually rejects science, and is well-known for that. When I ask for clarification, you fall back on "sarcasm." Was EVERY sentence by thebeave shown above sarcastic? Or are there charges against Mr. Swiz OTHER than rejecting science, which thebeave thinks are contrary to "left"?

It is just this sort of confused thinking and incompetent logic that led to the disastrous result on November 5th.

How much does it cost to insure your home for wild fires?

My home is not in a wild fire zone so it does not affect my home insurance.

Malibu is a high risk wildfire zone. Wildfires are frequent in that area.

Wildfires are natural (and necessary) phenomenon in California. But they are typically caused by humans.

It is a catastrophic 70f now. #PrayForSantaMonicaPier!!!

Cher and Dick Van Dyke had to evacuate? And that doesn't bother you in the least? Have you no heart?
Will the NW winds this afternoon blow the smoke at you?
I hate it when that happens.

Listened to a BBC report from Pakistan on glacier melts in the Himalayas.

Towns and villages are being washed away. Melting ice forms a lake, lake breaks through ice, a sudden flood. Several hundred glaciers.

Pakistan does not have the resources to move people, they are stuck. They appear to have had a decent life until now. Sad, kids with an unknown future.

In other news expect coffee prices to spike. Work is being done to develop strains resistant to climate change.

We are relatively isolated from it now compared tom other places, but it will catch up to us. Food supplies and effect on global economies and trade.

Meanwhile Trump's mantra is Drill !!! Drill !!! Drill !!!
And when the floods come then there isn't the snowmelt during the summer and they get drought.

Jokulhlaups. It is becoming more common. Juneau has had more in the last ten years than ever before.

Turns out we have less margin than we thought. The survival limit of 35C wet bulb turns out be a best case. In low humidity conditions the body can't actually sweat enough to get maximum cooling. And old people don't do as well, either.

I have considered the local extremes to be unpleasant to be avoided as much as possible, but not a danger with enough water. Turns out we have had a peak that would not be survivable for extended exposure. (Although I suspect you could survive it by spraying yourself with water as the limit is sweating.)

Real world: 1,300 Hajj pilgrims didn't come home.
