Climate Change(d)?

Nobody of note said it would happen overnight. Or that it would definitely be a total collapse. More likely a major adjustment to be made in the near future, the coming decades.
Really? All the propaganda has been about how climate change is an existential threat and how we must act now in order to save the planet from the coming climate apocalypse, we only have months to save the planet from catastrophe.

TSwizzle has missed another key point. I hope that whatever scientific journal he gets his "facts" from will be put out of business by Musk's Merry Hackers.

One point TSwizzle misses is that even if CO2 emissions stopped right now, the Earth would continue to warm. CO2 already in the atmosphere would continue to perform its greenhouse role. The oceans have absorbed, and will release, an additional 200 zettajoules of heat (that's 200 quadrillion megajoules for those not up-to-date on metric prefixes) compared with 1985. Glacier melting will continue at the already elevated temperatures.

IOW, climate will continue to worsen for decades from the extra CO2 and heat already injected into atmosphere and oceans. Of course we're all honored that TSwizzle tries to share cutting-edge climate research with us, but it's his own knowledge that the fake cutting-edge is cutting.

lol, the climate has not “worsened” by any significant measure.

It really is a religion for you lot.

lol, the MY climate has not “worsened” by any significant measure.
FIFY
Global sea levels have risen approximately 10–12 inches (25–30 cm) over the past 50 years due to thermal expansion and ice sheet melting.
THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT MEASURE even if its significance escapes you.
Of course you won’t notice until the sand your head is buried in gets wet enough to cut off your air. Right now, tho -

The area that has experienced the greatest temperature rise over the last 50 years is the Antarctic Peninsula, where the mean annual temperature has increased by about 3°C (5.4°F).

Alaska has warmed significantly as well, with an increase of 4.3°F (2.4°C) since 1970, making it the fastest-warming U.S. state. But you don’t live there, so - not an issue. The rate of change has been accelerating, so in another hundred years an additional ten degrees or more of heating may be expected.

Santa Monica is getting minimal change, but with another 10° of heating in AK, it will be more than noticeable. To be really comfortable in your ignorance (obviously your personal concern), Mar a Lago would be a good choice;

The Southeastern United States, particularly parts of the Southeast and Florida, has experienced relatively minimal temperature change over the last 50 years compared to other regions. While global warming has affected most areas significantly, regional trends in the Southeast show smaller increases, with some parts showing statistically insignificant changes. Don’t blame me if it’s so low-lying that it gets a little swampy.

Really??? The local ski resort that had been in operation for sixty years here had to close because their wasn't enough snowfall to keeps the slopes covered. And the snow makers were ineffective because the temperatures were too high to keep the snow they made.

We still haven’t had a significant frost or freeze here since 2011 in spite of weather patterns this winter that were analogous to winter of 1989 when it froze all the way down to homestead. We were zone 9B back then. We are zone 10 now and zone 11 plants that we are pushing in our landscape have gone several consecutive winters without any special protection. Our climate here locally has certainly changed.

Skiing is your religion.
72° in Santa Monica is Swiz’s religion.

Your religion is superior because it can be practiced anywhere north of the 40th 45th parallel.

Oh noes. Sad news for the cultists, the rapture has been delayed

Vital Atlantic Ocean currents are unlikely to completely collapse this century, according to a study, but scientists say a severe weakening remains probable and would still have disastrous impacts on billions of people. The Atlantic meridional overturning circulation (Amoc) is a system of currents that plays a crucial role in the global climate. The climate crisis is weakening the complex system, but determining if and when it will collapse is difficult.

Teh Gruaniad

“Difficult “? lol.

“The climate crisis is weakening the complex system”, Swizzlers. The fact that you may outlive it doesn’t make it go away any more than your other head-burying ritual utterances.

By the time it collapses, if it does, that will only aggravate an already difficult to dire situation for humans. But maybe not so much in Santa Monica as in Europe.
How will you take to a huge influx of French douchbags? 😁

according to him Europe will collapse in ten years anyway so that influx of French may happen even before the climate crisis.

I will ffffffart in their general direction. 😋

Tropical Cyclone Alfred 22U

Issued at 10:44 am AEST Sunday 2 March 2025.

Historically, cyclones very rarely cross the coast south of about 25°.

Brisbane occasionally gets flooding rains from the remnants of cyclones, but the city has never seen a Category 2 cyclone, and a Category 1 storm in Brisbane would be a once in a lifetime event. This information may be out of date by this time next week.

That said, Coral Sea cyclones are notoriously unpredictable, so it might turn around and head out into the Pacific. Or head back northwards.

I wonder what will come first. A nuclear grid or a Mr. Fusion generator. I'm betting on the latter, especially in California.
The latter can't exist unless you have high temperature superconductors. Otherwise you simply have nothing that can deliver that much power--your wires either melt or arc.
:picardfacepalm:
It's irked me for a long time because the numbers are clearly impossible.
You're right. That's the ONLY physical or engineering issue that is preventing us from all having a Mr Fusion generator right now. There are literally zero other obstacles to their immediate commercial rollout.

It pains me beyond words that I feel the need to add a sarcasm tag. But I suspect it is necessary. No wonder the world is totally fucked.

There has been no significant change to the climate. Only alarmists are claiming this.
You say that like the predication was "significant changes in the climate at 2 degrees Celsius increase". The prediction was x degrees for y years. At the point of 2 degree increase, they prediction was that the increase wouldn't be particularly noticeable on a major scale. There'd be signs, but not huge ones. So your repeated retort of well "we haven't noticed it" is 100% in line with what the predictions have been to this point. The problem really starts with the next couple of degrees.
You want to handwave them as, I'm not certain as what. You refuse to speak of them. These predictions note the first couple of degrees wouldn't be all too noticeable, but that the increases on top of them will become a lot more impactful. We've seen building codes impacted. We've seen USDA Growth Zone mapping impacted.
Yeah, we have been hearing this bullshit for 20+ years now.
Needing to redraw USDA growth zone mapping is very much a sign of climate change. Climate change that was predicted decades ago.
Yup. We used to be 8b, now we are 9a. The first time we elected The Felon I next day posted a picture out the front door--someone noticed the "dead" (the roots survive) yams. The second time I finally cut them down in December because what was left wasn't good enough to harvest, not because they were dead. It warms earlier, also--much of our winter growing season is gone. The hot season stuff likes 100F, but isn't so happy with 110F, we don't make up the lost time. For us it's just stuff that's not available in stores but not vital. What about the farmers, though?

Well, that's an easy problem to solve. President Musk has fired all the USDA staff who change the Growth Zone maps, so everyone will remain in the same zone from now on.

As the first lady, Donald Trump, pointed out, "If we stop testing right now, we'd have very few cases".

Measuring things just leads to depressingly bad results. So the White House has acted. You're welcome.

I don't hear he word apocalypse used in regard to climate change. Maybe the extremists on the net use it.

The era of global warming has ended and “the era of global boiling has arrived”, the UN secretary general, António Guterres, has said after scientists confirmed July was on track to be the world’s hottest month on record. “Climate change is here. It is terrifying. And it is just the beginning,” Guterres said.

Teh Gruaniad

Humanity has only two years left “to save the world” by making dramatic changes in the way it spews heat-trapping emissions and it has even less time to act to get the finances behind such a massive shift, the head of the United Nations climate agency said.

AP News

etc.

An end of times, rapture like cult.
The Guardian is sensational and when they have to choose between honest and dramatic they choose the dramatic. Their facts are usually true but often cherry picked. Their conclusions don't mean much.

As always, tiny changes at the middle show up as big changes at the edges.

It's starting to look a bit worrying for Brisbane.

The latest MetEye forecast from the BoM has Alfred crossing the coast right at the mouth of the Brisbane River at 16:00 on Thursday as a Category 2 system.

We are going to Hobart tomorrow, returning Friday. Might prove to be a good decision not to be here, though it may be tricky getting home.

“Difficult “? lol.

This post should be framed as it epitomizes the difference between actual scientists and MAGAts who don't need science because they already know the answers.

The scientist states that predictions are "difficult." TSwizzle "lols" this: He gets his info with straight from the top. Yahweh, Trump -- these guys are not indecisive. @TSwizzle - did you drink bleach to protect self from Covid? Surely you didn't defer to science.

Reading about "disastrous impacts on billions of people" also elicits "lol" from TSwizzle? What drugs are the rage in Santa Monica these days?

Can't you just buy an H-bomb from one of your allies? The scientist America now worships thinks that ought to deflect your cyclone. You might want to throw in several hundred tons of bleach to be sure.
