"Coronavirus and the US" or "We are all going to die!!!!"

Quick trip to get gas this morning.
Clerk won't take the guy's money or turn on the pump until he puts a mask on. Guy sings the fuck-your-rules-muh-freedom song.
I ask, 'can you grandstand to the side so the rest of us can get served?'
He goes off on me, about my mask, my herd mentality, two other customers get served behind his back. This fact makes me smile, which is less effective behind my mask. He finally storms off.

Jesus. I worked a suicide hotline a while back. Hours thru the night, talking people down, getting them help, perspective, shelter, other resources. Right now, though, if you guys want to drink the disinfectant, i am willing to get you a straw.

Do you administer UV bulb suppositories too?
No, but my portable car-starting battery can be used as a power plug....wall socket or USB. Let me go get that for you.

Meanwhile the worldwide pandemic is fast approaching 15 million people infected and well over half a million deaths. The next hot spot to make news in the next few hours is India with 936K cases and 24K dead.

So we're at the point where we're getting a 9/11 worth of deaths every other to every few days now.

Compare and contrast the responses to these events. Maybe we should call this a islamic extremist virus? ;)

First Coronavirus Vaccine Tested in Humans Shows Early Promise - The New York Times

Masks for coronavirus now have more scientific evidence behind them - Vox - "It’s true the evidence for masks was weak before. That’s changed."

Best and worst masks for coronavirus, from surgical masks to bandanas - Business Insider
A preliminary analysis of 194 countries found that places where masks weren't recommended saw a 55% weekly increase in coronavirus deaths per capita after their first case was reported, compared with 7% in countries with cultures or guidelines supporting mask-wearing. A model from the University of Washington predicted that the US could prevent at least 45,000 coronavirus deaths by November if 95% of the population were to wear face masks in public.

But not all masks confer equal levels of protection.

The ideal face mask blocks large respiratory droplets from coughs or sneezes — the primary method by which people pass the coronavirus to others — along with smaller airborne particles, called aerosols, produced when people talk or exhale.

...
It depends on the quality," Dr. Ramzi Asfour, an infectious-disease physician in Marin County, California, told Business Insider. "If you're making a cloth mask from 600-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets, that's different than making it from a cheap T-shirt that's not very finely woven."

Over the past few months, scientists have been evaluating the most effective mask materials for trapping the coronavirus. Here are their results so far, from most to least protective.
  • Two medical-grade masks, N99 and N95, are the most effective at filtering viral particles.
  • Disposable surgical masks are a close second.
  • "Hybrid" masks are the safest homemade option.
  • Three layers of cotton or silk are also highly protective.
  • Vacuum-cleaner bags are a DIY alternative to surgical masks.
  • Tea towels and antimicrobial pillowcases aren't ideal materials, but they're better than a single layer of cotton.
  • Wrapping a scarf or cotton T-shirt around your nose and mouth isn't particularly effective at filtering the coronavirus, but it's still better than nothing.
  • Single-layer cotton masks are preferable to single-layer paper masks.
  • How you wear your mask matters too. - "The protectiveness of a mask — including N95 and surgical masks — declines considerably when there is a gap between the mask and the skin."

Yeah. It turns out that the source of this outbreak was a security guard in one of the quarantine hotels that are used to house people who arrive back from overseas - he was having sex with those in his custody, contracted the virus, and spread it to the rest of the state.

I wasn't going to comment about the Premier of Victoria Dopey Dan, who in all reality should shoulder most of the blame for this outbreak. Dan's union bosses demanded he use unqualified unionist guards when PM Scomo offered him 1000 professionals from the military which Dopey Dan refused the offer. The chickens have now come home to roost putting the whole nation at risk.

In what universe are people whose training consists mainly of shooting enemy combatants more qualified for object surveillance than people who were trained, and have worked in, well, object surveillance for years?

The Islamist claim it's allah's judgement on infidels. So, in a way you can call it that if you wish. Just ignore the pandemic that's in the Islamic world as well and Bob's your uncle!

That has worked a treat in Victoria hasn't it! It's unlikely a trained military guard would trade sexual favours for allowing infected people to roam the streets infecting hundreds of other people.

I heard on the news two days ago, that most people who have had the virus only have antibodies in their blood for a few months. This is especially true of those who had very mild cases. It does make me wonder if any vaccine that is developed will be protective for more than a few months, but I'm not an epidemiologist, so perahaps vaccines can be developed that work for a longer period of time.

It's weird that the CEOS of Modern have sold their stock right after coming out with the claim that their vaccine has been successful in the initial trial. The trial only involved 45 people. Now they want to test it on 30,000 people. Even if it works, there will be a huge challenge to make enough syringes and glass vials to be able to make enough vaccine for most of the world's population.

We're in this for a long time, it seems.

Is it?

Why?

Do Australian soldiers have some kind of treatment to reduce their libido?

Sex, drugs, and money have been used to subvert guards since the invention of guards.

But...but they're a bunch of socialists!

Check out Canada's reactiion to Covid-19 here.

They were pre-planned sales. They probably timed the announcement to bump the stock price before it happened, though.

Natural Selection

In the 999990s I watched a show about a guy who looking at drought conditions somewhere in Mexico. He stumbled on something.

A dried up stream left isolated pools of wate./ In one pool was a small fish diminishing off from infection caused be a parasite.

In another pool the same fish was resistant to the parasite.

He put resistant fish in with the infected fish and eventually the population became resistant.

Natural selection of genetic immunity to disease.

Humans should be no different. It was said back in the 90s there were people in whose blood the HIV virus would not grow. Someone ran an experiment testing samples.

Sweden's genius of a government was trying the " herd mentality" and not enforcing distancing and shutdowns resulting in almost EU's leading infection rate.

Is that why Sweden has an even higher death per capita than the US (for now)?

Would you still hold that view had that been anybody else but Dopey Dan, if it was say, a conservative and not a socialist premier?

Okay, so T Cells are the reason....

oh wait... T Cells might be the reason.

I hate YouTube Clickbait.
