Idiocy. A designer offers a variety of designs, the Nazi Party picks one that looks like a Nazi symbol. Jason thinks the designer should be somehow penalized for offering that design, even though it is far less likely that they knew of its Nazi association than it is that the ones who selected it knew perfectly well that it was another dog whistle of the sort they have habitually offered to their swastika-loving, confederate flag-waving followers.

My son builds stages for various theatre companies and feels many elements of thge CPAC stage were unnecessary for what they were doing. He mentioned this at first sight, before he heard about the rune.
If true, no designer would have offered this, it had to be requested by the organizers.

And look at their reaction to charges of the stage being a Nazi symbol. It would have been very much in character for them to blame the designer, charging her as a Biden plant (or Hillary, or AOC) attempting to sabotage/insult CPAC, if it was the designer that came up with this.
But they stood by the design.
