Day without stupid: redux

So basically a "source" made up a bunch of Trump quotes, WaPo ran with it, and now they're issuing a correction *two months later* completely contradicting what they originally claimed. More importantly, about a half-dozen big outlets said they independently "confirmed" the Post's reporting with their own nameless sources.

No wonder trust in media is so low.

It's like clockwork. Right winger accidentally says the quiet part out loud, and is exposed as racist.

Right winger accuses everyone else of "playing the race card."

You played the race card. You led with it. Everyone else called you on on it.

Let's be clear, there was no accident. That is testing the waters. The GOP knows they need every deplorable white vote they can get. They fear the hoards of black voters heading to the voting booths.

No wonder trust in media is so low.

Translation: "No wonder trumpsucking morons believe every lie that comes out of Trump's mouth".

Sorry Trausti - that is a lame excuse for your credulousness.

The main difference between mainstream media (CNN, NYT, WaPo, etc..) and Right Wing media (Fox, Newsmax, etc..) is that the former tries to get the story and facts right. The latter tries to get the story and "facts" wrong. The former has the agenda to inform. The latter has an agenda to misinform.

The WaPo story was a lie. And other news organizations said they corroborated the lie. The lie was used in the senate trial by the dem managers. No doubt, you believed all of it.

Obviously not. Otherwise the WaPo story would never have run. And the other outlets wouldn’t have lied about corroboration. But they can count on useful idiots believing anything.

No. WaPo was doing that it could to inform. And when the tape came out they made corrections. And note that the corrections did not change the main issue at hand. That is still valid and now actually more corroborated.

The creationist site, Answers in Genesis has a page for "Arguments Creationists Shouldn't Use."
They list PRATTs (problems refuted a thousand times), misconceptions, and outright lies told/spread by less ethical creationists. Their stance is that if they have the Truth, the Truth should be enough to win. Don't need dirty tricks.
Thry didn't use any names. They did not say, 'Don't use Gish Gallop,' for example, or warn anyone, 'God will punisdh you for using K. Hovind's site.'
But as soon as they published the list, Hovind whined about AIG atracking him personally.

Fox news recently defended Tucker Carlson's bullshit as obviously fake, entertainment that only stupid people would think was 'news.' This was their defense in front of a judge. It really seems to me that Fox is becoming the Dr. Dino of newstainment channels...

And, that's their real crime. In Trumptard world, media outlets showing integrity and admitting when they're wrong is a sin.

The WaPo story was a lie.

So what?
FOX airs 60-70% lies every single day for years on end, and the lies are corroborated by OAN and NewsMax.
But I don't see you or any of your right wing hypocrites complaining. Meanwhile, Trump has done far worse than what was accused, even if that accusation was untrue.
Congratulations - you found something wrong (but was CORRECTED - gasp!) in the generally-far-more-more-accurate-than-FOX MSM sector.
But your credulous ingestion of right wing racist crap continues unabated.
Big deal.

It is a big deal. Media misinforming the general public is not a good thing. Trausti is also completely full of shit if he claims incidents like this, which was handled responsibly by the WaPo, is the cause of distrust towards the media. And I think he knows that.

The two opinions are not mutually exclusive.

Fox News needed to be sent a letter from lawyers of a corporation to issue a rather lengthy retraction on their reckless reporting on voting machines.

NY Times, Washington Post aren't perfect, have a record with some spotty performance here and there, but it isn't a reflection of their reporting overall.

Was it WaPo's lie or their source's lie.

Not just media outlets.

The way you can tell that something is The TruthTM, is that it never, ever, under any circumstances, changes. That's why The Bible is better than any science textbook as a source of information about reality.

Completely contradicting?????

"find the fraud" vs 'she would find "dishonesty" there' seems like about the same thing to me.

And succeeding at the most important job in the country would make someone a hero.

This sounds like nothing more than the fallibility of human memory.

Yeah, the Washington Post effectively reported what Trump meant. Her job couldn't possibly be the most important to him unless it meant overturning the results of the election. The context is as clear as day. The Post misquoted his words, but not his intent.

Agreed. These are precisely the sort of "misquotes" to be expected from someone who reports sincerely on a conversation that he/she didn't record or make shorthand notes on.

That this is elevated to a Big Lie and supposedly puts WaPo in the same ilk as Fox, Hannity, and the ranting about sex slaves in a pizzeria's basement just reaffirms what hideous and despicable twisters of truth Republicans have become.
