Democrats 2020

It's true that many black voters are attracted to Biden because they see him as the most likely to beat Trump. But, I also personally know a few who really love Biden. They trust him. They like how he's mingled with the black community during most of his career. When the crime bill was passed, a large percentage of black folks supported it, not realizing that it would hurt their own people the most. Hindsight in always 20/20. All politicians do things that they later regret. Sanders supporters get upset when people bring up some of the things he did in the distant past, but have no problem criticizing Biden for some of his past mistakes. I don't care what these men have done in the distant past. Who among us has never make a bad decision? What is important now is who can take down the most incompetent dangerous president in the history of my lifetime, certainly one of the worst in the history of the country.

From my perspective and life experiences, Sanders isn't that person. Imo, he promises too many things that have no chance of becoming law. He is stubborn and even threatens to do some things by executive action. Enough of that. I want a president who respects the Congress and works well with the Congress. I see Biden as far more capable of that compared to Sanders.

A lot can happen between now and November vis-avis the economy/oil price war and the economy/coronavirus that might damage Trump's appeal to his supporters and allow just about anyone to beat him. If suddenly he can't get his jollies from campaign rallies and continues his misdirection on the pandemic he'll self destruct from the isolation.

'Even a Fox News Audience Agrees': Sanders Makes Case for Broad Appeal of Progressive Ideas on Eve of Michigan Primary

Imagine if Biden had received thundering applause from a room full of Republican and independent voters for his left-wing platform. There would be nonstop coverage of him as the crossover candidate.

Instead, Biden did some interviews where he said two very interesting things:

1. He knew that Saddam Hussein did not have weapons of mass destruction, but championed the invasion of Iraq anyway.
2. Even if both houses of Congress passed legislation that guaranteed medical coverage for all US citizens, he might veto it anyway.

Everyone should vote for Bernie Sanders based on point 1 alone. But point 2, I think, is far worse. Biden isn't making a Warren- or Klobuchar-style concession to the powers that be and triangulating around a difficult Senate. He is literally saying that even if such legislation were to somehow overcome those barriers and land on his desk, he would kill it with his bare hands. This man is a CONSERVATIVE.

Just got home from voting and lunch. I voted for Bernie, my wife voted for Biden, so we cancelled each other out.

Obama said he didn’t support gay marriage in the ‘08 debate. I don’t recall him trying to stop it.

Really? That's your solution, just hope Joe Biden has a change of heart? Why not just vote for Trump, and hope he also changes his mind?

Well, he knows who signs his checks, doesn't he?

Joe Biden's shortlist for cabinet picks was leaked.

Why it matters: Biden advisers describe a Return to Normal plan — a reversal of President Trump's unorthodox, improvisational style. Biden wants known, trusted people around him — many from the Obama years.

Some highlights.

Jamie Dimon (JPMorgan): Treasury
Anna Finucane (Bank of America): Treasury
Mike Bloomberg: World Bank
Deval Patrick (Bain Capital): VP
Tom Nides (Morgan Stanley): Commerce

Elizabeth Warren must be darn flummoxed about which candidate to endorse, such a hard decision for someone of her principled convictions :rolleyesa:

I seriously doubt that list is true. In fact, I doubt that Biden has decided who he wants in his cabinet should he become the nominee. Enough with the unsubstantiated rumors. I don't think Biden even knows who he wants to be his VP, although he has supposedly spoken to several women about the possibility of having them as his VP. I just hope its someone much younger than him. Hopefully, this will be the last election when we end up having to choose between a couple of old white men.

Interestingly that you didn't notice that Warren was on the list also!

So Bernie made no statement last night and he has gone back to Vermont to reassess. I think Bernie will take the high road at this point for the sake of party unity.

I think he should hang on for the debate. We need at least one opportunity to present policy so that the public can actually see a side by side comparison, arguing not against 10 people with no time nor expectation to speak substantively but one senile man vs a sharp wit with real conviction behind it.

Oh poor AOC. How will she survive? The four sows of the apocalypse have much less influence than the media assumes.

Just announced he’s staying in. He’s looking forward to the debate with Biden. Give ‘em hell Bernie!

"There's no sugar-coating it. Tonight's a tough night. Tonight's a tough night electorally," @AOC says in her Instagram live chat.

.@AOC talks about the generational divide and congratulates @JoeBiden on winning his races tonight.

"There's a generational divide in the Democratic Party on health care, on climate change, on foreign policy," @AOC says. Calls the divide is "stark" and "decisively different."

"We don't dismiss voters. We don't think people as disposable. Your vote matters," @AOC says about telling people to not blame older voters here.

"Movements aren't necessarily electoral," @AOC says.

"People get better at learning to vote over time," @AOC says.

"Our generation seems to have a streak of progressivism that doesn't seem to be going away soon," @AOC says.

.@AOC says that she is very concerned on what this all means for climate change.

"The good news" is that a vast majority of Democratic voters believe in Medicare for All and climate change, @AOC says. She adds that they "are winning on the issues."

"The notion of electability and the ideas of what people think about to defeat Donald Trump" has been "decisive" this cycle, @AOC says.

That has led to ugly reactions this cycle, @AOC says.

.@AOC says that the "number 1 enemy" of the movement "is cynicism."

.@AOC says that you should never ever "let your heart turn black" when it comes to fighting for issues you care about.
That's commendably conciliatory.
