Dictatorship is neither left nor right

A minority inflicted the majority with slavery.

Something Constitutional protections would have prevented.

And what moved us from the sickness this minority caused?

Democracy. The will of the majority expressed in Congressional action.

Hardly a story of some majority deciding to oppress a minority.

Those stories are delusions from the defenders of dictatorship.

Democracy is what ended Jim Crow laws.

It worked.

They are not evidence of a problem with democracy.

If this is all you got you got nothing.

And I know this is all you got.

Slavery and the aftermath had nothing to do with democratic vote.

Democracy is what ended Jim Crow laws.

You are not pointing out a problem with democracy.

You have no point.

The great failure of democracy from the lovers of dictatorship is the Civil Rights Act.

What lunacy will they claim next is the problem with democracy?

Democracy? Were black people allowed to vote on the issue?

Yes. In the same way they were allowed to vote for the Civil Rights Act anyway.

Blacks were allowed to vote for representatives in 1964. They weren't allowed anywhere near polling places in the late 19th century and early twentieth. So your nit pick doesn't apply.

You ought to take yourself a gander at the 15th Amendment some time.

For some reason all those racists that kept blacks away from the polls in many ways didn't seem to care about it.

The sickness of slavery is still with us.

The US is filled with racists because a minority wanted race based slavery.

And slavery existed for CENTURIES.

And somehow defying any reason or knowledge you blame democracy when what democracy gave us was the Civil Rights Act after those centuries of torture and oppression.

Somehow that country you consider sick and racist is also the country that passed the Civil Rights Act.

Just admit that your definition of a Real Democracy is "one that votes my way."

A nation filled with racists passed the Civil Rights Act.

That's how good democracy is.

Why don't you just admit you love dictatorship?

Sounds like minority rule. Why don't you just admit you love dictatorship?

The Act won by a majority vote and was supported by a majority in the nation.

Yet you see minorities at work?

Your blindness and love of dictatorship is not an argument.

The Act won by a majority vote

In a group of about 400 people, and not everyone had the franchise to vote for them.

Your blindness and love of dictatorship is not an argument.

You're trying to have it both ways. You say that majority public support for a majority of legislators counts a "Democracy in Action"TM for the Civil Rights Act but majority public support for a majority of legislators doesn't count for Jim Crow. When people point out your inconsistency your only defense is to accuse them of loving dictatorship. This inconsistency is why people see that your definition of Democracy is "passes laws I approve of."

True. It was not perfect democracy.

But good enough.

And the same setup that got us Jim Crow. You're trying to have it both ways. What got us Jim Crow laws were centuries of slavery.

But you blame democracy.

What do you blame for WWII? The Muppets?
