Don't cuss me but what if....

I feel like it will have negative ramifications down to the small-town level.
People who want a world where bullying wins will be emboldened to step it up.
Bullying in school board meetings will escalate. And in schools.
Rage shootings will increase, and public fights.
I suspect domestic violence events will escalte in number and severity.
”vigilante” events will escalate.

Legislatively, bullying bills will be introduced and bullying will be employed to pass them.

ANd the first victims of legislative will be trans and gay, followed by women and then poor people in general.

I feel like the biggest danger will be the pile-on of wanting to behave like Trump does by people who feel like they just got permission.

What if Trump wins another term in 2024?
Well I won't cuss you but...

You know those pornos where the handyman and his apprentice come in the fix the bored housewife's sink but the bored housewife can afford the bill? So they end up fucking in the kitchen, fucking on the kitchen bench, then fucking in the lounge room, then fucking on the dinner table, then fucking in on the sofa until finally fucking in the bedroom with the housewife's face glazed in cum and barely able to move because the pornstars have all fucked themselves into exhaustion?

The US will be even more fucked than that.

We will not cuss you but we (rest of the world) will never forgive nor forget.

In fact perhaps it is time to send all yanks on a 500 year mission to explore strange new worlds beyond the Kuyper Belt.

Only half the Yanks, pls.

But yeah, if you could pull off a Republican Rapture, we’d all be very grateful.

I'm starting to wonder, in the wake of the Roe reversal, whether it isn't better to be a gay male in this country than to be a woman. It's definitely better to be rich gay male than a poor anyone. I do not understand why the Congress pulled out all the stops to pass the Respect For Marriage act in the eleventh hour on the strength of a mere threat, but they couldn't do the same to create a federal right to seek an abortion. Nor have I ever understood the stilling of the ERA. I may be slightly underpaid, or disadvantaged on an insurance application, but I've never been told that I have no right to bodily autonomy.

It's the kind of thing that makes you wonder whether our "left" even manages to make it to the center.

Not sure if you are submitting an extra dose of political adeptness, or just testing euphemisms.

I can easily envision Brownshirts in the streets, political executions, the enslavement of (the other half of) Congress and the judiciary to the executive branch, and eventually the flourishing of a few dozen fiefdoms run by trillionaires and supported by the further subjugation of the poor to the whims of industry.

I would be considering where we might be able to emigrate to. I have serious doubts of the safety of living here if that happened.

Been thinking about it for years. I’d probably have to get to Canada and figure it out from there. Or just take a leap; leave it all and fly to Portugal or New Zealand and try to wait it out.

That's a little more revealing than needed.

I would like to think that such an outcome is...unlikely.

He "won" in 2016 because no one saw him coming. He managed to snatch the GOP nomination, they lined up behind him, and he pulled victory out of his enormous backside in the electoral college.

He did not win in 2020. He lost the popular vote again, lost the electoral college, and despite all his efforts was unable to overturn the election. The GOP is fractured (they are literally coming undone before our eyes at the moment), Biden is not terribly popular but he wasn't all that popular when he won in a landslide over Trump, and there's this whole "the former President is on trial for everything" thing going on.

The reason he got within spitting distance of actually overturning his 2020 loss was that he was - at the time - actual President. He had the power of a whole branch of government at his beck and call, but it was still not enough. He does not have that now. If the vote is close, he will not have the ability to pull the levers of power in his favor this time. The current VP is going to be a little less amenable to giving him a do-over on the electoral vote, to put it mildly.

No, Trump needs a smashing, overwhelming victory in the popular vote in order to win another term. Something he has never managed.

I doubt that will happen. Efforts are underway now to prevent Trump being on ballots in several states. So far these efforts are not going well mainly because Trump has yet to actually been found guilty in a court of law of anything that could be called insurrection. But if Trump ever is found guilty of inciting January 6, the fake elector scheme, voter fraud in Georgia et al, then he will be booted off a lot of ballots. What matters is if Trump is booted from ballots in key swing states. I suspect that GOP attacks on womens' health issues in 2024 is going to doom the GOP. Again, all it takes is a few swing states. Attacks on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid. Democrats need to make that a major defining issue. I do not see any GOP presidential candidate who can win.

It would confirm the fact that scientific and rational literacy among U.S. citizens is in the shitter. Beyond that, who knows? Consider that after Pearl Harbor FDR would have been impeached by the current crop of crazies, literally the lovers of Japan and Hitler. Not good stuff.

The only way that could happen is if Biden died during the campaign. Even then, we'd totally support the idea of Kamala Harris and Pelosi dragging him around, pretending he's still alive. Kind of like Weekend at Bernie's. He already has the sunglasses so he is halfway there.
