There is a big practical difference between blocking immigrants from land versus sea. On land, all you need is a wall and guards to ensure that people who try to get over it are just returned to the other side. But if a rickety boat with hundred people on it shows up in your territories waters, you pretty much have to rescue them, and ascertaining their country of origin an trying to convince that country to take them back is rather difficult. Sweden seems more like it is driving immigration in rather than restricting it. Most of those coming over are not seeking asylum but economic migrants from some Asian countries or those not affected by the current wars.

Even if true, so what? If I flee with my kids to a place where they are not at such high risk of death, why is it important whether the threat of death came from war or from poverty? 'Economic migrants' are good for the world economy; they move labour from low value to high value locations. But even if they were not, there still seems to be no sound justification for discriminating against them in favour of those escaping from war.

So 1000 people on the loose molesting and robbing women in public places with the police doing nothing is not unusua? Then we can add what appears to be a black out on news reporting for a 5 or 6 day period. Remember the police first reported no serious incidents then a few hours later changed that statement. There were no security checks on most coming in coupled with the unprecedented numbers pouring in which resulted in what some have predicted. Incidentally news of other cities also came in though there are no detailed reports on these.

The claim that cut price labour moving freely from country to country to usurp the standards of existing workers who are paid more is simply a myth. This may be the real agenda behind the concept of the Eu but in the end if fully applied, the wages of those in the West will be reduced to the bottom dollar philosophy.
In the Philippines for instance most workers are taken on 6 month contracts then discarded so the employer evades paying NHI and pensions.
Thus its high employment is caused by transiting from job to job.
The difference between the West and the undeveloped countries is the workers are paid less so less money circulates into the economy producing even more jobs such as more household items, better foods, more holidays, more nightlife and investments for retirement.

Cut price workers only purchase basics and sometimes barely that so purchasing power is reduced.

The problem with the electorate, is they are per opinion polls increasingly in favour of putting the air brakes on mass immigration which is effectively being driven into Europe. However they still vote in the main for parties who keep on increasing the velocity and volume of traffic. The UKIP (which also fielded high levels of ethnic minorities who are British citizens) did make a major breakthrough in terms of making it the third largest party but per the electoral system only won one seat.

There are potential immigrants who can benefit the country but the rest of the worlds economic migrants contain only a few. The other problem is that when skilled people leave their own countries it causes a brain drain thus perpetuating skill shortages.

If the abused the protection of the host country and present a risk to others they can be deported back to their own country but it is unlikely another country will accept them. This excludes the majority who are respectful and law abiding. In many cases they offer high skills.

Given that 100% of people die, it's impossible for certain causes of death to be on the decline and not have other causes of death increase.

Cancer is a disease correlated with age. An increase in cancer rates is (all else being equal) an indication that people are living longer which actually implies an increase in overall health in society.

What would be acceptable as the most common cause of death? If cancer rates declines, an increase in what other cause of death would be acceptable?

Dying of cancer at the age of 95 is an indication that you didn't die of pertussis at 3, of measles at 8, in an industrial accident at 15, in a motorcycle crash at 18, in childbirth at 25, of pneumonic plague at 28, of being stabbed at 30, of complications from influenza at 40, of a heart attack at 50, of liver failure at 75, or due to complications from breaking your hip at 85. An increase in such cancers is not a sign that people are in worse health than before - quite the reverse.

It depends when cancer occurs. A person can get most of the other ailments later in life.
