The researchers' global compilation of chimp violent crime statistics allowed them to consider what conditions in a community produce a higher murder rate.

Chimpanzees live in well-defined colonies, and groups of males patrol the borders of each colony's territory. This is where violent conflicts are known to arise, particularly if a patrol encounters a single chimp from a neighbouring community - but never before has this much data on the lethality of those interactions been combined in a single study.

When the scientists compared the figures across chimpanzee research sites, they found that the level of human interference (e.g. whether the chimps had been fed, or their habitat restricted) had little effect on the number of killings.

Instead, it was basic characteristics of each community that made the biggest difference: the number of males within it, and the overall population density of the area.

These parameters link the violence to natural selection: killing competitors improves a male chimp's access to resources like food and territory - and crucially, it will happen more frequently when there is greater competition from neighbouring groups, and when the males can patrol in large numbers, with less risk to their own survival.

As for architecture improving, I can't really say that the pictures posted so far are doing anything for me. Old European cathedrals and such were nice for their time becuase only the church had the money to burn into frivolous buildings, but today, we've got plenty of other sources of finance and in fact churches and mosques are rather bland. Besides, even if someone might build a mosque that looks ok, it's still just a mosque. If you are going to architect and build a good-looking building, why not make it something useful like a library or a parking carage a public bathroom?

What you are saying is not disputed.Chimpanzees will simply kill another chimpanzee who is in its area whether there is abundance. Chimpanzees will kill another because he is from a different tribe which we could say is possibly linked to that. Chimpanzees kill for bananas and the territory and we kill for oil and for territory. Chimpanzees also go on patrols and are great strategists at coordinating attacks. Specific reason I am sure could vary just like with humans.

You will find that researchers find it difficult for Chimpanzees to trade rather than go to war for each others possessions, but I only have this old reference suggesting that a known way that they trade is buying sex

Scientists will normally tell you that Chimpanzees don't like trading. For instance they like grapes better than pears. So both will grab the grapes even if there are much more pears than grapes.

Now that some of our elder apes are letting other tribes into our territory, we are tending to hoot and shriek about it for good reason as our tribal culture could possibly face some threats.

However, the fact that the government is now talking about housing migrants in tents, may be a signal that Sweden, despite everything, may not want to be on the front lines of the "humanitarian" battle anymore, after all. The prospect of spending an ice-cold Swedish winter in a tent may make migrants choose countries other than Sweden. If not, a complete collapse of the Swedish system is imminent.

High-ranking politicians and officials are also saying the situation is extremely grim. On October 1, Minister for Home Affairs Anders Ygeman said that the current wave of immigrants will lead to "huge economic strains;" and a few days later Immigration Service Director General Anders Danielsson explained that "within the framework of the system we all know, we are now approaching the end of the road." Statements such as these have never been heard before in Sweden, especially in connection with the "sacred" issue of migration. Until now, Swedes have perpetually been told that we live in a rich country that has no problem handling all asylum seekers who want to come here...

Genuine refugees are always welcome.

However having worked in Muslim countries and I have quite a few friends, they don't act like these mobs who come over. They are also hard working and productive. They don't behave badly like some who are coming into Europe.

The quick Yahoo poll I took (cant find now= shows more than 70 per cent of the Brits support the campaign against ISIS

I'm sure they will soon realise what a great idea it has been being an ally of the USA while the USA bombed and destroyed the middle east resulting in this latest influx of refegees. Gee thanks
