Why make a guess about this when both people are still alive and the facts are there to observe. What is wrong with finding out who is telling the truth?

When the truth is hidden, bad things can happen because people lose the facts they need to stay safe and make good choices. Lies and secrets let harm grow without anyone stopping it. What happens during our next pandemic when another Fauci we can not trust tells us whats good for us?

And in this case the truth matters to all of us. In this case we are not talking about who is lying about who has a bigger crowd size or Trump's penis size. We are talking about biological mass weapons of death. We are talking about life on earth.

Lying about what? Paul made the allegation that Fauci sponsored a lab in Wuhan that developed covid and then spread it. And they did this to benefit Fauci financially. Should be easy to prove. I'd like to see the evidence. Paul made the allegation, he needs to back it up.

I agree with you that we should all like to see the evidence.

But I disagree with you about the easy to prove part. Especially when the main actor of the show is suddenly not talking anymore.

The truth is not hidden. You just haven't bothered to look properly and instead keep relying on people that continually lie to you because you want to believe them.

The virus in the lab and the covid virus are genetically too different to be of the same origin.

It's not Fauci's responsibility to provide evidence of anything.

And there is this:

This reminds me of Trump's multiple claims about election fraud in 2020.
But he never agreed to give any evidence to a court. Because he didn't have any, he was just lying to the Teaparty Christianists. The same thing is happening now.

Trump can not produce evidence for his claims, he's just trying to scapegoat someone who consistently demonstrated that Trump is lying.

Paul really shouldn't need Fauci to say that he did this, when Paul is accusing Fauci of it. That would imply Paul has evidence, yet, isn't sharing it. Instead we are getting bits of pieces of electronic communications that don't suggest Fauci is guilty of committing any immoral action, forget illegal!

Then he can charge him with contempt there. Fauci already made the statements. If Paul "knows" that Fauci lied, then he should have pushed for charges on that. But he isn't. Which means Paul doesn't "know" Fauci lied.

Trump's abuse of the DoJ in his second term is why preemptive pardons came about.

Jail time. Paul and the republican congress weren't interested in finding any secrets. They want someone to blame for COVID. They want to trap Fauci into lying to congress charge. Fauci was stupid in writing a diary on his government computer. Congress has it. In it is thousands of data points where they could trap Fauci in mundane facts.
