Fuck CBS. They bow to trump

Modern comedians could learn a thing or two from late comedian Johnny Carson. Carson was just as funny as anyone else but he never alienated half his audience because he was careful to be a political athiest. Carson lasted over 30 years in the business.

If I were the CEO of Disney or some other outlet I would tell my employees exactly the same thing. Don't let your customers know your politics so you won't lose half your business.

It's not the least bit surprising you've forgotten all your faux outrage about censorship. Or how you've mischaracterized the situation by omitting (either by accident or design) the FCC's involvement in Kimmel getting sacked.

Show was losing money becasue I was watching it for free (with no adds).
Yes, Youtube in Russia runs with no adds :D Blame war on Russia.
Yeah I'm sure the US advertizers are really loosing sleep over the missing Russian viewers/buyers.
You don't know how adds work on the internet, do you?
So how does Youtube Russia earn it's money? It's watching YOU.
Youtube does not earn any money in Russia.
If CBS was worried about Youtube, it wouldn't itself be posting it's vids there.
Well, I am pretty sure CBS earn some money on youtube.
WHAT war on Russia?
The one US started.

Having finally seen the Kimmel video that got him sacked, it appears to me that he actually said fuck all about Kirk's murder, but was critical of MAGAtard's insanely fast move to politicize it, along with Trump's lack of empathy ("the ballroom's going great").

So basically he got sacked not because of poor ratings, but because he was right.
Yes, I keep hearing that he said “horrible things about Charlie Kirk’s death” but I actually haven’t heard him say anything of the sort.

The offending sentence seems to be that Kimmel said that the MAGAs were frantically trying to paint Robinson as anything other than them.

Which they interpret as Kimmel lying that the shooter was a MAGA person.

Ar least get your own dumb opinions, for fuck's sake. We all have computers, if we want to go see what Fox and friends are saying today we can just go over there and see.

... Kimmel moved into second with 1.82 million viewers, down about 11 percent from five years earlier ...
Seems to me like ... the Trump administration likely gave them a convenient, face saving exit strategy.

Wow! ABC might have just replaced Kimmel's show with a show people might actually want to watch, but were afraid of blowback from Kimmel's microscopic audience. So instead they abruptly canceled Kimmel, kowtowing to illegal fascist interference; and they did this to keep their respected corporate image.

I suppose they furthered this clever ploy by encouraging Kimmel to bad-mouth the Maggots and urged Trump, Carr and other key Maggots to watch the show's opening monologue. Clever!

Yeah. That sure sounds exactly like how it played out. One has to admire the way Disney/ABC handled this to come out smelling like a rose.
... I wonder would Trump then try and press Google to bend to his authoritarian will?
I can’t think why not, the Biden administration tried it.
Unfounded gibberish? Check!
No attempt to substantiate the gibberish? Check!
Knowing the only response would be useless sixth-grade-level whines, no Infidel bothers to ask wtf the claim is? Check!

Yes, this is our dear SwizzKid showing off his Maggot credentials.

Comedians and writers of humor have commented on politics for centuries. Humor is a powerful way to educate. No, political commentary is not a prerequisite for comedy, anymore than dancing is a necessity for a singer. But the best comedians have not been bashful about revealing their political feelings. Mark Twain, H.L. Mencken, Will Rogers, and even Benjamin Franklin were humorists who wrote much about politics. Closer to the present, Mort Sahl and George Carlin were top comedians who specialized in discussing politics.

I watched many episodes of Johnny Carson decades ago, but about all I remember of him now is "he was the guy he used to bend out of view to take snorts of cocaine even when on camera." Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart have given us rather more substance to remember them by.

We can see that you, as one who admires Trump, think that financial gain should be the only motive for a comedian or TV talk-show host. But those of us with a broader view of human motivation are repulsed by the selfish greed that motivates adherents to Trumpism.

And especially discouraging is that you treat the "partisanship" today as similar in quality to the D-vs-R partisanship of the 20th century. To you, @RVonse , Trump and his merry band of criminals and fascists are just another instantiation of the Eisenhower, Reagan or Bush Administrations.

The U.S. is mutating before our eyes into a banana republic not unlike Myanmar, Iran, Hungary, Saudi Arabia, El Salvador or Russia. And this transformation is proceeding at a pace much faster than even pessimists expected. And yet, as we witness even here at IIDB where most posters have 95+ IQs, millions of Americans don't see it, even now. Where do you all get your news? Alex Jones, QAnon, Karoline Leavitt and idiots_are_us.com ?

lol, all this because two late night shows that hardly anyone watched were canceled?

Yeah right Swiz. All this because of that.
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Libs are ALL about late night TV shows nobody watched. Just like Republitards are all about getting homeless people locked up, deported, converted to Soylent Green or getting them the fuck off Swizzle’s doorstep by any other means.
These are the things that certain foreigners and domestic idiots often believe to be of paramount importance to Americans.

No 'all this' is because some right wing loudmouth that only rightwingers listen to, got killed by a rigntwinger from a different faction of the right wing (gropers?).

And where is the evidence for this?
No evidence. Just one of several clames about the assassin.
What the hell are groypers anyway? I haven't kept up with right-wing idology.
I'm not really sure myself. I had never heard of it until I saw some people talking about it on this forum after his death. I believe you will find some info on it if you reread the first few pages of postings on the Charlie Kirk thread. Or just google it, I guess.

Behave yourself, the writing was on the wall for these shows just by the way the broadcasting industry has moved to streaming.

A groyper is a Nick Fuentes fan boy. Right-wing nearly as bad as they come. I don't think that there is much evidence that he's a groyper.

In the second quarter of 2025, Colbert averaged about 2.42 million viewers per episode, making his show the most-watched in the 11:35 p.m. time slot.
Damn. I didn’t even know there was an 11:35 pm time slot.
