A Cascading Effect.
I had heard on the DW News channel last night that gasoline in Russia is only available at 30% of gas stations. That's worse than I thought. Then this morning ISW reports,
Russian state newspaper Izvestia reported on August 18, citing data from Russian crowd-sourced mobile application GdeBENZ (which provides Russians real-time fuel availability and prices), that gasoline was available at only 28 percent of all Russian gas stations
This has also affected the availability of motor oil as the supply chain is disrupted (need for aromatic hydrocarbons) and vehicles are in more frequent need of oil changes since Russia permitted an increase in the supply of lower grade gasoline that breaks down the motor oil faster. Further, Wikipedia states more modern engines are not designed to run on this older poorer quality gasoline.
Understandable considering the tight mechanical tolerances of newer engines requiring these thinner motor oils such as 0W-16 and 0W-8. I'd hate to be running a turbo in Russia right now.
Russian streets are going to look like Cuba; nothing but old jalopies still running, puffing noxious fumes into the air.
As far as Wildberries goes, only barbos knows for sure how bad it is. We can only take known information, apply it to our own Amazon and make assumptions as to what our online experience might be like. If 70% of Amazon's large fulfillment centers went up in smoke and small vendors selling through these fulfillment centers went out of business when their uninsured inventory went along with it, what do you think it'd be like?
Most importantly, this is reality for Russians. The Kremlin can spin the war in Ukraine. They can't spin this. So many things being "out of stock" online and the word of mouth of where and how close last night's explosions were is real.
Oh, and the deployment of Rosgvardia (Russia’s heavily militarized internal security force) to gas stations because the local cops can't handle the violence.
Winning!
I hope Ukraine gives it their all as Russian elections loom. Not that the OG of petty dictators can lose to anyone but the turnout might be interesting.
