I'm not sure Kim is actually in charge.

I'm no Korea expert, but I always assumed that the military runs North Korea and the Kim family dictators are just puppet figureheads like the Japanese emperor during World War 2.
 
All Kim had to look at was Trump's accepting the Lybian model of nuclear disarmament complete in its end process with Kadaffi being led around naked with a pipe up his ass and finally shot. Kim is perhaps not as stupid as Saddam. But our wonder boy Mr. International Aggression president and a a whole slew of highly motivated thugs. Why did we think we could conduct military maneuvers offshore of North Korea just prior to this "summit" and not give away our ultimate intentions to the North Koreans? If your leader makes a point internationally of being a tough guy ready for "fire and fury,"it should come as no surprise that he is not trusted internationally. When your leader acts that way in the wider world, whatever fire and fury he might visit overseas, he has essentially the same mentality when it comes to his own people and they should not be trusting him.
 
Trumptards are already saying that it was a huge win for Trump.

The narrative is that he fooled them by pulling out in order to show that he means business. 3-D chess and all that. Thus, they're already on their second victory lap with respect to this NK thing.

Knowing some things due to the fact that I know some military folks with some pretty good insight into the situation, I'd actually given Trump a shot at this. But then Stupid prevailed (e.g. John Bolton), and Trump can't control his mouth any better than a horny monkey can control its masturbation habits.

Just another faceplant for Drumpf. Yet his supporters are somehow calling it a YUGE win.
 
The meeting between Trump and Kim is unimportant and unnecessary, not to mention the fact that it could blow up in the faces of these two thin-skinned man babies. Trump is not going to get Kim to give up his nuclear weapons and missiles, and China doesn't seem all that concerned that he keep them. (See How Trump Got Outplayed on North Korea.) However, there is a lot of buzz and attention surrounding the possibility of a meeting, and that attracts narcissists. So these guys may actually end up sitting down for a meeting where they pretend to negotiate stuff that they'll later walk away from, should they accidentally agree on something.

The real player in all of this is China. They are using Kim to manipulate Trump. So far, Trump's threat of punitive tariffs on Chinese products seems to have been dropped, and Trump has even agreed to help ZTE get back into the US market. They are also having a great time playing around with their new military base in the South China Sea while everyone else looks way to the north. Meanwhile, Kim now says he really wants that meeting, and Trump is making noises that it might be back on. Trump supporters are cheering and tooting air horns from their seats in his peanut gallery.

Kim Jong Un isn't a man baby. He is a leader of North Korea. He isn't dumb, he isn't thin skinned. North Korean policies have purpose. Trump is the one that is aimless and clueless. Kim is fucking with Trump like Lucy with Charlie Brown.
 
I find Cope's China hypothesis more believable. I think Kim is a tool. But then, Spanky is a tool, too.

Count on conservatives to argue that failure is actually success. Of course, this is expected. When Obama was in office, they argued that success is failure.

Whether Scott Adams is smart or dumb is irrelevant. He lives in a propaganda-fueled fantasy world divorced from reality. It doesn't matter how good or bad his arguments are if the premises are all garbage.

Trump says North Korea summit talks continue: 'Could even be the 12th'

(CNN)President Donald Trump told reporters Friday he remains open to holding a summit with North Korea's Kim Jong Un on June 12.

The President said lines of communication had opened between the two countries after officials said Thursday that the North Koreans had become unresponsive, leading to the planned summit's cancellation.

"We're going to see what happens. We're talking to them now. It was a very nice statement they put out," Trump said on the South Lawn before departing in his helicopter for the US Naval Academy in Maryland, where he is delivering a commencement address.
