If you are Christian can you...

There's that line from the Wizard of Oz that applies to all religions, and very much so to the christian one. "Are you a good witch or a bad witch?"

There is simply no amount of "sin" that will affect how "christian" you are. According to christianity, the most heinous genocidal maniacs the planet has ever hosted are all forgiven and are bound for heavenly glory.

Next step. If I go Christian and accept the CHRIST PAK (TM), can I stone adulterers to death? Same for brides who prove to be less than 'intact'.

Yes, because even if the bible tells you to stone-them/not-stone-them and you choose wrong and do something heinous because you followed one part of the bible and not another (read with the Holy Spirit, you jerk!) , all you have to do is say, "WUT? oops, soory," and you're good. Christianity intact. As it were, like being a born-again virgin.

This one is pretty clear. Christians are not allowed to stone adulterers, unless they have not sinned. Sorry.

If I have been recently reborn, confessed my sins and asked for forgiveness and been baptized and had my sins forgiven, can i now stone adulterers?

That's the ticket.

Let he who is without sin - or about to be forgiven - cast the first stone.

What if I can show that the story at the start of John 8 was not in the earliest known manuscripts and was therefore interpolated later AND I asked for forgiveness five minutes ago AND I have an adulterer or not-intact bride in my sights AND I'm burning with a holy conviction AND I have a box of holy rocks? Then can I take aim? And if not, what Bible elf told you to tell me no?

If you are Catholic and birth control even condoms are immoral, is it ok to masturbate?

Based on scripture can you be a Christian and

1, Get a divorce if you just get tired of each other?
1. Can you commit adultery you get the hots for someone else?
3. If you are unmarried can you fornicate, IOW have sex outside of marriage?

Of course you can. Indeed, the Bible suggests that most people are quite likely to do these things. It doesn't really approve, though.

Nae, we true Scots have always had a keen since of when the Good Book should be followed to the letter, and when a bit a personal discretion can be excused. Just look at good king Robert and that dastardly pretender John!

What is it that you feel the purpose of the Bible is then? If it's not a source to tell you the word of God and provide you with a foundation of a moral structure, how would it be relevant to you?

Why, it's a magic talisman of course (dummy!).
On CARM, I was trying to ask a YEC about why "Bible sez" one thing to a YEC true believer, and another thing to an OEC true believer. I got some shit about how God makes sure that the Truth perceived by every believer is customized for that believer's needs. So I asked him if he believed that the bible is a magic book.
*BAM!*
Suspended for a month.
Ah done larnt mah lesson - the bible IS a magic book! (It can make you disappear for 30 days)

Nah, it's all of those things you say... when convenient.
