I always wondered why he did not adopt the usual alpha male position. Embarrassed disclosure with a forgiving wife.

He was the alpha male and other female's interest would be quite natural and easily forgiven. She has no one to trade up to, she retains spouse status.

Didn't Kennedy's reputation actually improve with his philandering?

Hillary is not the alpha bitch. There are a few women in more powerful positions, but just a few. Tapping Merkel, indeed.

Will a sex scandal in the White House be disclosed some day? If history be our guide the probability is high.

Wait, I am not stupid, nosiree, sir. I am living my life here and now. Local custom exceeds the force of law. Comply or die is the real choice. Unless you run for the hills and absent yourself from "civilization." We take the high ground of liberty from government's control. Meanwhile we plan. A plan that results in death is no plan at all. Give me Liberty or give me Death, no way. How about just liberty. A plan of no plan at all, anarchy, becomes true liberty. People want their town to have a reputation as a safe place. They hire a constable to help the residents make that 'want' a reality. Our town is defensible. We have the literal high ground. To be an anarchist barbarian will become necessary when civilization -- central control -- takes away liberties in the cities by force. When it becomes customary, head for the hills.

Some of the above is metaphorical. But only some (see Switzerland).
