With President Donald Trump repeatedly commenting on GOP Sen. John Husted’s physique, Senate Majority Leader John Thune said at a rally Tuesday Ohio’s other Republican senator, Bernie Moreno, is also “eye candy.”

“I know that Husted gets a ton of attention but I think Bernie is kind of eye candy too,” Thune said in Lima, Ohio, according to a social media video. “They both got it going on when it comes to that.”
Okay, we know Trump just lets stuff come out of his mouth. He just says stuff. Generally the GOP has stepped to the side and tried not to comment, but Senate Majority Leader John Thune is immitating Trump. And for a Senator that isn't even running. WHY?!?!

Ivermectin, chemtrails, ufos, beef tallow obsession, anti-vax,… overlooking all the corruption and grift, pardons of drug kingpins and multimillion billion dollar fraudsters…

Nutty cult.

Don't forget suntanning your nut sack.

And for a Senator that isn't even running. WHY?!?!
Going for the gay vote?
We're not that fucking dumb.
Bullshit. My wife's gay uncle voted for this sort of shit all the time and then they fled where they were living (red state) to move to a blue state to try to protect their gay rights.
Then your wife's gay uncle is a moron. He is not "the gay vote", though.

No... I'm pretty certain this is how stereotypes work.

Ah, the myopia of projection!
Not all gay people are university professor-quality intellects, Poli.

Shall we go to numbers? I think you know what we'll find. Without queer folk, Trump would have had a second consecutive term and they'd have to ring him up at the retirement home to get his current opinion on John Husted's biceps.

No, this isn't about the gay vote. This is about fascism, and its fetishization of idealized bodies. You ever see art from the original fascist era? Same bullshit.

No, this isn't about the gay vote.
The idea that there exists “a gay vote” is a vacuous trope, afaict. Unless there is some huge monolithic gay community somewhere that I don’t know of (I’m open to education!) it SEEMS like gay people as a voting bloc, is no more “a gay vote” than say, Irish or Muslim voters.

Sane washing Trump while poking at a political rival with a lot more name recognition and who is actively campaigning for Democrats.

Sen. Moreno isn't campaigning for the Democrats. He has said Max Miller is a problem, but that is only because his daughter was married to Miller.

In my line of work, I get to meet a lot of gay men. I'm not sure what the attraction is to interior design and antiques is, but every stereotype has some basis in reality. As a group, they tend to be above medium income. A lot of the older ones are Lyndsey Graham types, in the closet but the door is open. Before Trump, they tended to be Republicans, mostly for the economics and foreign policy. As far as I can tell, most are now "Anyone but Trump" Republicans. The younger ones seem to be apolitical, but really independents and strongly in the"Never Trump " camp. The Gay Community, if there is such a thing is as diverse as the general population. Everyone of them has their own reasons for voting as they do. If there is an issue that unites them, it's the MAGA attack on DEI. If there's any way to unite a diverse group, make them all a target.

I've been to parties put on by gay people a few times. Their homes were all fantastically decorated. I definitely want gay people to move into my neighborhood to increase my property values.
