I am really really really serious that those are the people I grew up surrounded by and today, if my car broke down in the county I grew up in, I could walk to the door of the nearest house and they'd help me out, probably invite me to dinner. Maybe even fix my car for me. Even if they had been reading my facebook page for the past 6 years or so. They are decent people who have worked hard all their lives without much pay, and without a lot of chances.
The guy from Ohio who just showed up to rally, then got sucked into illegal entry to the capitol, seemed like just such a guy.
The Tatenhove character seemed to be quite a bit brighter. That latter dude realized what a bunch of lowlifes he was involved with way long ago. Both of them contributed to the eventual coup attempt and I don't excuse either. It seems harder to blame the hapless Ohio guy, but he seems like a poster boy for making people take civics - or some other kind of tests before being allowed to vote. Not that Ohio guy was stupid, just probably average intelligence by most measures. But any conman who can get the votes of the average and dumber, is going to have a majority. This crap was bound to happen.
I personally have a really really really hard time trying to understand how anyone, even those of average or somewhat less intelligence, could see and hear more than thirty seconds of Trump and not know he's a scumbag. But that's where we are.
