Hi Josh. Sorry to hear about your failed book deal, but I doubt it cost you much moolah. Very few of your supporters have ever bought a book in their lives.

I'll make you an offer that will net you a lot more Benjamins than you'd have gotten for the book. Go on TV with a real human being — take your pick of AOC or Nancy Pelosi — and let her castrate your dick and both balls, and I'll pay whatever the price of your book would have been, just to watch. I think you'll get millions of other real American patriots also willing to pay to watch.

How about it? I don't think you'll miss your puny dick: your idea of sex is probably just to stick your tongue up Trump's butt-hole anyway.

Can I post this to his Senate website? Or will the Capitol police arrest me? That's the funniest thing I've read all day.

I thought Republicans defended private companies’ rights to do business with whoever they wanted. Strange...

As to those Germanic symbols, some white nationalists are followers of Asatru or Odinism, a revival or reinvention of old-time Germanic religion. They are into it as heritage. Here's an article about it: How a Thor-Worshipping Religion Turned Racist
This breaks my heart. My grandfather was 1st generation Norwegian American and now I can't look at some of the old religions and traditions the same way. :(

Congressman Jamaal Bowman on Twitter: "We survived an attempted coup yesterday at the Capitol.

I’m a member of Congress and l have not received any kind of security briefing since then.

Why was our government so outrageously and dangerously unprepared to deal with an attack we knew was coming?" / Twitter

Elaina Plott on Twitter: "A White House official tells me that people in the West Wing today are "depressed" and that those without jobs already lined up are concerned that they're unemployable." / Twitter
Boo hoo hoo hoo hoo.

Tomi Lahren on Twitter: "If @realDonaldTrump were to lose (he won’t) his supporters will go to work tomorrow just as we do everyday. When Biden loses, his “supporters” will likely loot and riot. Tells you everything you need to know! #Trump2020" / Twitter - 2020 Nov 3

Rebecca Parson on Twitter: "🤔" / Twitter

Tomi Lahren once wore a brunette wig as a Halloween costume, because in her mind, AOC was the scariest person that she knows about.

Ro Khanna on Twitter: "A video belatedly calling for a transition does not change these facts.

1. Trump invited violence telling people to storm the Capitol & fight.
2. He tweeted support for the rioters
3. He showed a dereliction of duty by failing to call the National Guard.

He needs to go." / Twitter

Ilhan Omar, Leading Impeachment Push, Accuses Donald Trump of 'Attempted Coup'
Omar spoke to Minnesota's MPR News on Thursday about the violence at the Capitol and the next steps for dealing with the president, who will only be in office for the next 12 days.

"We must impeach and remove him from office immediately so he cannot threaten our democracy and the world any longer and hold public office ever again," Omar told MPR News.

"Congress should reconvene immediately to carry out this constitutional duty."
She also was not confident that Trump's Cabinet would use the 25th Amendment against him.

I have one quarrel with the thread title.

Technically, it is only a "coup", if it occurs in the coup d'état region of France. Otherwise, it's just sparkling white terrorism.

Platforms Must Pay for Their Role in the Insurrection | WIRED - "Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube have spent years fomenting and enabling yesterday’s violence at the Capitol. Policymakers need to do something about it."
In their relentless pursuit of engagement and profits, these platforms created algorithms that amplify hate speech, disinformation, and conspiracy theories. This harmful content is particularly engaging and serves as the lubricant for businesses as profitable as they are influential. These platforms also enforce their terms of service in ways that favor extreme speech and behavior, predominantly right-wing extremism.

ince 2015, when Trump announced his presidential campaign, the relationship between internet platforms and the political right has been increasingly symbiotic. The business choices of internet platforms have enabled an explosion not only of white supremacy but also of Covid denial and antivax extremism, which have variously undermined the nation’s pandemic response, nearly sabotaged the presidential election, and played a foundational role in the violence at the Capitol. A huge industry has evolved on the platform giants to raise money from and sell products to people in the thrall of extreme ideologies.
Ayanna Pressley on Twitter: "Don’t call these cabinet resignations anything but a Profile in Cowardice.

They’re resigning to avoid invoking the 25th amendment.

Congress & the people see right through it.

We must impeach & remove." / Twitter

Ted Cruz on Twitter: "Devastating. Heidi and I are lifting up in prayer the family of the U.S. Capitol Police officer who tragically lost his life keeping us safe. He was a true hero.

Yesterday's terrorist attack was a horrific assault on our democracy. Every terrorist needs to be fully prosecuted." / Twitter

As President @realDonaldTrump stated last night, it is time to heal and move on.

If Speaker Pelosi pushes impeachm ent in the last days of the Trump presidency it will do more harm than good.I’m hopeful President-elect Biden sees the damage that would be done from such action.

Speaker Pelosi is hanging by a political thread, and Senator Schumer lives in fear of a primary from the radical left.

It is up to President-elect Biden to step in and allow the nation to heal.

Any attempt to impeach President Trump would not only be unsuccessful in the Senate but would be a dangerous precedent for the future of the presidency.

It will take both parties to heal the nation.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "“Move on?”

“Moving on” does not mean “forget about it,” @LindseyGrahamSC.

“Moving on” requires accountability.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "To my GOP colleagues: know that this President incited an insurrection against and incited his mob to find, harm, and possibly kill not just Democrats, but you, too.

from the release: Muray "issued the following statement calling for the resignation of Senators Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Ted Cruz (R-TX), who like the President, incited and supported the violent mob that attacked the Capitol during the certification of the 2020 election."

Cruz spox responds: “Cruz has always condemned political violence of all kinds, unlike Sen. Murray, who this summer defended what she called a ‘vital’ and ‘legitimate’ insurrection in her home state that resulted in four shootings, two deaths, multiple alleged sexual assaults”

Elizabeth Warren on Twitter: "Betsy DeVos has never done her job to help America’s students. It doesn’t surprise me one bit that she’d rather quit than do her job to help invoke the 25th Amendment.

Extremist forums like TheDonald/4chan are turning on the president after that video. They're extremely upset at him, Lin Wood, and Q.

This appears to be the moment they realized there was no grand plan to win back the election.

This may not be permanent, but they feel betrayed.

There has been a substantial split tonight.

About half of Parler and pro-Trump Facebook is still going with the "it was Antifa" lie.

TheDonald/4chan/the other half of Parler are doubling down on storming the Capitol, since they organized it there, and are turning on Trump.

Obviously, there are conspiracy theories, too. Some can't believe the president wouldn't support the same storming of the Capitol they believe he explicitly called for, so they're saying the video is a deepfake or he's being threatened by the "deep state."

What video?
Kaitlan Collins on Twitter: "To get him to record yesterday’s video, President Trump’s top aides told him there was a real chance he’d be removed from office — whether by his own Cabinet or lawmakers — if he didn’t more forcefully denounce the pro-Trump mob. W/ ⁦@Kevinliptakcnn⁩ (link)" / Twitter

After Riot, Business Leaders Reckon With Their Support for Trump - The New York Times
Many in corporate America endorsed the president’s economic policies, which were good for them and gave him mainstream business credibility. It was “fool’s gold,” one said on Thursday.

Big business struck a Faustian bargain with President Trump.

When he said something incendiary or flirted with authoritarianism, high-minded chief executives would issue vague, moralizing statements and try to distance themselves from a pro-business president who coveted their approval.

But when Mr. Trump cut taxes, rolled back onerous regulations or used them as props for a photo op, they would applaud his leadership and grin for the cameras.

After Wednesday’s events on Capitol Hill, the true cost of that balancing act was plain to see, even through the tear gas wafting in the rotunda.
Like Susan Collins: helpless hand-wringing with no effect on him.
Ultimately, however, the executives were reduced to the same sort of mental gymnastics and bouts of understatement that the president’s socially liberal supporters have had to perform in recent years, extolling Mr. Trump’s economic policies at opportune moments, while ignoring his fundamental flaws.

Brian Stelter on Twitter: "As you watch apology tours by former Trump admin officials, keep in mind that some of them are trying, and failing, to land talent agents. Getting an agent is a path to TV and book deals (though I'm very skeptical that there's a lot of market interest in those deals)" / Twitter

Years ago, one of my on-watch conversations was about how we would judge if our life was or was not a success. Number of kids, net worth, size of the gun collection, that sort of thing.

I had a real clear answer last November. If the entire world dances in the streets when i get fired, i was not a success.
Right now, though, if my wife does not proudly tell the English-speaking world that i have five kids and no job....

I need to ammend: Having my testicles mentioned in my obituary would subtract a lot points from my eventual success score.

I just read that the cop who died was beaten with a fire extinguisher.

I agree.

Here's a bit of underappreciated Germanic heritage: language. We all know that people can borrow words like crazy, but there are things that are usually not borrowed very much: the more basic sorts of words and grammatical features, especially irregular ones. "Latin plurals" are imported as English irregular plurals, for instance.

I'll give some examples: vowel-shift and -ed verb past tenses.

English: I give, I gave, I love, I loved
Dutch: ik geef, ik gaf, ik schilder, ik schilderde (I paint, I painted)
German: ich gebe, ich gab, ich liebe, ich liebte
Danish: jeg giver, jeg gav, jeg elske, jeg elskede
Norwegian: jeg gir, jeg gav, jeg elsker, jeg elsket
Swedish: ag ger, jag gav, jag älskar, jg älskade
Icelandic: ég gef, ég gaf, ég elska, ég elskaði

Old English: ic ġiefe, ic ġeaf, ic lufie, ic lufode
Old Norse: ek gef, ek gaf, ek elska, ek elskaða
Gothic: ik giba, ik gaf, ik frijō, ik frijōda

I just read that the cop who died was beaten with a fire extinguisher.

See!? See?! If Trump was reelected, he'd have done something about excessive fire safety codes that make buildings so expensive to run! Then those protestors would have been unarmed! That's why Trump Tower has so few of those dangerous weapons of opportunity!
-my uncle, probably, a custodian who once weight-tested all the fire extinguishers at a mall and still complains about it
