Two male lions photographed while having sex has fur flying in Kenya, where a local moral leader and censor blames the same-sex behavior on gays who’ve visited the area.

“These animals need counseling, because probably they have been influenced by gays who have gone to the national parks and behaved badly,” Ezekiel Mutua, the head of the Kenya Film Classification Board, told Nairobi News. “I don’t know, they must have copied it somewhere or it is demonic,” Mutua added. “Because these animals do not watch movies.”

“Some research needs to be done,” Mutua told Nairobi News. “And also I wish I can get the bio to confirm the two lions were actually male, because it is not normal.” He suggested that the lusty “lion love birds” (his term) could have copied the homosexual acts after watching a gay couple have sex in the reserve.

Maybe Ezekiel Mutua should go preach to the lions all by himself and unarmed.

Seriously though... is this even real?

Theist: gay sex isn't natural!
Gay lions: we're having gay sex
Theist: they must have learned this from humans! They must have televisions out on the savannah!

Yes. Africa is a hotbed of *virulent* homophobia. Generally, it comes in two forms, the first is the "gays are a product of European influence and Imperialism, good Africans would never have been gay" type attitudes.

The second, ironically, comes from a European import: evangelical Christianity. Several influential evangelicals have been peddling all sorts of homophobic smears, like gays recruit young boys etc etc.

Yeah, let's not forget that Chick-fil-A donated money to that "kill the gays" law in Africa. They donated money in an attempt to cause mass murder.

So naturally, people who are against mass murder complained about what Chick-fil-A was doing. So of course all of the conservative Christians ran to the defense of Chick-fil-A and claimed that Christians rather than gays were the ones being "persecuted." Because if you stop someone from committing mass murder, that makes you exactly like the Nazis, and if someone stops you from committing mass murder of gay people, that means you're just like the Jews in WW2 concentration camps.

Why are supposedly well educated Africans so backwards about gay people, and witches too?

Maybe for The same reason that American Republican politicians act similarly superstitious, despite some of them being well educated, articular etc.
If you’re a politician with an ignorant and superstitious constituency you’re gonna take advantage of that lever of influence, actual beliefs be damned.

The anti-witch Africans are anything but educated from what I understand. You know how evangelicals think education is the devil. It leads to people opposing mass murder and stuff.

It's been at least half a century since evangelical Christianity in Africa was dominated by European Christian missions. Europe is now largely secular; The evangelism in Africa is almost entirely sourced from the USA - which is where the recent focus on homosexuality originates (the European missionaries were more concerned with what they considered sinful heterosexual activity on the part of Africans).

Ding ding ding!

You are correct, sir!

Further, American Evangelical missionaries are also partly responsible for the anti-witch rhetoric that has resulted in African evangelicals setting children on fire.

When I lived in the Evangelical-infested South, the Bible verse that I heard quoted most often was "Thou shall not suffer a witch to live!" and they always had a terrifying gleam in their eyes when they said it. Somehow, the anti-witch rhetoric of American evangelicals interacted with African beliefs about witches to result in the modern practice of killing children with fire or acid.

While the line Poe uses to divide reality and satire just keeps getting thinner and thinner, I have a hard time believing this is true.

"European" can encompass things which aren't necessarily within the geographic boundaries of Europe. As much as one may hate to admit it, The United States and Canada are part of "European" culture. They speak European languages, follow European religions, wear European clothes, use European-style education etc etc.

Well, I mean, the religion is originally Levantine, but after thousands of years, unfortunately, it has become part of what it is to be European. Personally, I would have preferred traditional European religions. Unfortunately for the world, a couple particularly gloomy and life-denying examples of religions from in and around the Levant have spread to dominate the world.

So you are saying that Christianity is European, despite being almost completely absent from Europe - pick a European at random and there's better than an even chance you picked an atheist, and a single digit percentage chance that he attended a place of worship this month (ten months out of twelve). If he did attend a place of worship this month it is better than even money that it was for a wedding, baptism or funeral.

That's like using 'English measurements' to refer to temperature measured in Fahrenheit, despite the fact that nobody in England uses Fahrenheit anymore.

It's typically American, but bloody stupid, and needlessly confusing.

If the 5% of the world that is the USA are determined to remain out of step with the remaining 95%, then the least you could do is own it, and not try to pass off your current silliness as the fault of peoples who have long since grown out of it.

Now hold on a minute. You can't seriously be suggesting that we blame Americans for what Americans did. Don't you know that we're special snowflakes who must never be criticized? Therefore, it must be someone else's fault.

have you not seen videos of these preachers speaking within the same context, on different incidents?
I would have found this hard to believe as well, had I not.

Here's one for you:
