Louisiana mandates 10 Commandments In Schools

True. I went to Catholic schooling as well, the ten commandments were not heavily emphasized. The seven deadly sins, on the other hand...
The RCC was never much about reading the bable. I think they knew if they did the average person would get a clue.
The RCC did services in Latin in the USA because people were supposed to rely on the priests to read and interpret the Bible for them. My wife, a recovering Catholic, knows virtually nothing about the Bible. I was raised Presbyterian, and got a lot of exposure to both Old and New Testaments.
The mass was changed to English in the mid 60's. Is it still true that Catholics don't reads the bible?
Among the Catholics I know, the main focus is to cover the “went to mass” square on their bingo card. They seem to lack the motivation to think about what they’re being fed.

And so it begins...

Religious leader wants to display Indian scriptures in Louisiana public classrooms

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A spokesperson of the Hindu community is seeking to have ancient Sanskrit scriptures displayed in public classrooms alongside the Ten Commandments.

On Wednesday, Gov. Jeff Landry signed a law that requires each public classroom, starting from kindergarten to state-funded universities, in Louisiana to display the Ten Commandments.

The President of the Universal Society of Hinduism Rajan Zed said in a statement that the Bhagavad Gita, or the Gita, was a historically significant document and he believes is a treasure that should be displayed in public school classrooms.

It never ends. Add to it the audio recording of a SCOTUS judge talk about making the USA a country of god 'again'.

Louisiana has become the first state to require that the Ten Commandments be displayed in every public school classroom under a bill signed into law by Republican Gov. Jeff Landry on Wednesday.

The GOP-drafted legislation mandates that a poster-sized display of the Ten Commandments in "large, easily readable font" be required in all public classrooms, from kindergarten to state-funded universities. Although the bill did not receive final approval from Landry, the time for gubernatorial action - to sign or veto the bill - has lapsed.

Opponents question the law's constitutionality, warning that lawsuits are likely to follow. Proponents say the purpose of the measure is not solely religious, but that it has historical significance. In the law's language, the Ten Commandments are described as "foundational documents of our state and national government."
Multiple pages behind, I haven't read them all... but I'll just start off by saying Hell No, this is not at all acceptable. I assume there will quickly be a constitutional challenge to this... or at least I hope so.

I also went to Catholic school for a few tears, I mean years, and I don't remember the ten commandments posted in classrooms, but we did have a crucifix in every classroom... We did have mass at the beginning of every day, and we had rosary at the end of every day, and took two years of Latin...but it was a private school...

Putting the 10 C in a public school is another story...

Each word in Perseus's Greek version links to a page with grammatical info and links to vocabulary pages, with more than one parsing if necessary. That helped me a lot in doing these translations.

I tried to do fairly literal translations, but Ancient Greek isn't English. The grammar is very different: the ninth one is literally god-pl-obj honor-imp-2sg. Also, vocabulary doesn't exactly match.

Looking at the original reveals vocabulary features that are lost in some translations. "Learn to obey before you command" is more literally "Learn to be commanded before you command".

What I described is the sort of thing that Bible translators have to go through, so one should avoid depending too much on the exact wording of some translation.

What a country! Russia is destroying all non-Russian Orthodox churches in Russian controlled Ukraine.

.....
Religious freedom is under attack in Ukraine. Not from Ukrainian lawmakers, as some critics have falsely alleged, but from actual Russian soldiers.
A forgotten element of Russia’s war on Ukraine is its calculated destruction of churches and religious sites, part of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s physical and spiritual assault against the Ukrainian people.
....
This combination was most recently seen in late March, when the World Russian People’s Council adopted a statement overseen by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow. It described Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as a “holy war” and declared that “the entire territory of present-day Ukraine should be included in the area of Russia’s exclusive influence.”
.....

That's BS. It's actually Ukraine who banned Ukrainain orthodox church.
Why would Ukraine ban Ukrainian orthodox churches?

because they’re nazis! Duh…
Technically they are.

Ukrainians dumped the Russian Orthodox Church. Alien and unfriendly and supporter of War against Ukraine.
No, CIA dumped Russian Orthodox Church. If I remember correctly CIA chief literally met with that guy in Constantinople.
In reality people were pissed off when the church where they coming for ages was suddenly raided and closed. As I said, lots of kicking and screaming.
People who were for closing russian churches were not even christians.
And it was logical thing to do for CIA, anything connected to Russia must be expelled, I understand the logic.

CIA had nothing to do with Ukraine being pissed at the Russian Orthodox church that supported Pootie's invasion 110%. A religious fifth column in the heart of Ukraine.
It happened in 2018-2019
And CIA has everything to do with everything.
False.
No, what I said is a matter of records. Ukro-nazi themselves admit that.

Was the CIA responsible for banning Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia?

From Media Bias Fact Check: These media sources are slight to moderately conservative in bias. They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by appeals to emotion or stereotypes) to favor conservative causes.

The bolded words above describes the article posted in spades. Numerous references to the highly questionable New York Post does nothing to deter that description.

This has become quite serious at this point. Look at the big picture...the anti-CRT legislation changing the way racism is talked about (or not talked about) in school, the don't say gay bill, 10 commandments in schools, now teaching the bible explicitly...and it's growing in other states. Put this in the greater context of anti-IVF and anti-women's choice...and with the intensely conservative Supreme Court...this can all be upheld and when Trump wins, even more will happen as the courts will become even more conservative.

Seen elsewhere:
"And the LORD did dictate unto Moses another commandment, 'He Whom Hath Smelt It Hath Also In Turn Dealt It', but Moses did declare that to be totes wack, yo, and the LORD did subside in confusion, fearing He hath become out of touch and no longer jiggy with it."

News out of Oklahoma, even worse...

article said:
“The Bible is an indispensable historical and cultural touchstone,” Walters said in a statement.
No... it isn't. The New Testament is vague commentary and Jesus fan fiction. The Old Testament is an out of order retelling of the Tanakh, of which the first five books are pre-history and dubious retelling of the origins of the Hebrews. Then it goes on a somewhat historical take on the Israel's not so great year, a few good years, and back to not great years. Cultural touchstone?! Christians pasteurized the culture right out of the Tanakh.

Actually this is an opportunity. There’s a lot in that book that Christians don’t want kids to know about. Like dashing their very heads against the rocks.
Or discussing Matthew 19:12 "accept that this is a thing."
