Mar-a-Largo raided by FBI?

Yet more Trump obstructionism. :(

Also, a judge appointed by him will be judging him. Talk about conflicts of interest.

Obama has a law degree and security clearance, right?
His experience as a former president is also crucial. More so, IMHO.

How about a panel of former presidents? Obama, Bush, Clinton, and Carter. How about having them decide what constitutes treason on the part of a former president?

I believe 97 year old Jimmy Carter will be busy shingling a roof.

Not even Putin is going to say “perfectly okay to return this TS/SCI document to this fine, responsible gentleman”. It’s more likely going to be Robert Mueller than Putin anyhow.
My point is that no matter who the special master is, they're volunteering to never leave the country unescorted ever again and live the rest of their life with their phones tapped.

It's creating a single, concentrated holder, and reader of that entire pile of secrets. There are vanishingly few people qualified and none of them are friendly to Trump at all.
none of them? are you sure?

People... Friendly to someone who committed that breach, having executed that egregious failure of trust... Being qualified to see all of.tje material involved the beach?

Conflict of interest does not begin to describe anyone having both friendliness to Trump and access to those documents for deciding who owns which of them.

Trump could have saved himself a lot of trouble if he had just remembered that he wasn't President when he decided to commit various Federal crimes and then obstruct justice. The best he can hope for is to get reelected and use the power of pardon to further obstruct justice.

Of course, although he has recently said he would pardon people convicted for things they did while attacking the Capitol, such as assaulting law enforcement officers, he didn't actually offer any pardons while he was President. That was reserved for his buddies like Mike Flynn and Steve Bannon. Flynn is understandable, since he pleaded guilty to lying, something Trump doesn't consider to be a crime. Bannon on the other hand, was convicted of stealing money from Trump supporters. Maybe Trump thought it was a clever scam and wished he had thought of it first. Actually, he did and is rather skilled at it.

It's easy to call the investigation of a politician, "political", but politicians sometimes violate the law. Just as often, the people who have the job of prosecuting criminals are on the other side of politics. Shit happens. We would be in a sad state if the politicians who opposed the current party in power were free to violate the law. Executing a search warrant on a former President is unprecedented, but everything that every happened twice, had to happen once.

So far, Trump's basic defense of his crimes has been something along the lines of, "You can't do anything to me, just because you caught me doing something illegal." As defense strategies go, that's pretty fucking stupid. The weird thing about it is how many people are willing to act as if it makes any sense at all.

Congratulations. You are now in the running for this year's Double Down Gaslighting Award. You'll have tough competition from the Ukraine war thread, but we're pulling for you.
Why are you defending Trump?
You missed the "so". When playing the "so" game, you're meant to start your non sequiturs with "so".

You nailed the unfounded accusation part though.

I honestly don't think this raid will lead to anything other than getting the documents back into the government's hands. Also (and this is my opinion) Merrick Garland having his supreme court nomination rejected by the republican party convicting their god Emporer won't be a good fit for the unbias law enforcement image he'd want to convey.

Are you serious or trolling?

convicting their god Emporer won't be a good fit for the unbias law enforcement image
Uh … in the eyes of whom exactly?
Trumpsucking MAGATs?
Fuck ‘em. Enough with the concessions.
I think he means it'll be on Garland's mind. Garland has been running an uber-clean ship. And this level of investigation is pretty unusual. However, because he has been running things so clean, it will be near impossible for the GOP to say this was a premeditated hit job on them.

*spit take*

I'm waiting for the Q-tards to spin the conspiracy theory that Mitch McConnell blocked Garland's appointment to the Supreme Court as a long term power play to stitch up Trump. I fully expect Russel Brand or some other twat to post a youtube clip titled, "Why did McConnell REALLY block Garland's appointment? The real reason will shock you!"

Per the Washington Post, Material on foreign nation's nuclear capabilities seized at Trump's Mar-a-Lago. And Trump claims that it is okay that he had it at his home office because he declassified it. Jesus H. Fucking Christ.

Some of the documents are so restricted that even some of the Biden administration's senior-most national security officials were not authorized to review them, the Post said.

This is stuff the US doesn't want others knowing we have. My guess, NK or Israel. If Israel, he better watch his back.

It was in this last batch of government secrets, the people familiar with the matter said, that the information about a foreign government’s nuclear-defense readiness was found. These people did not identify the foreign government in question, say where at Mar-a-Lago the document was found or offer additional details about one of the Justice Department’s most sensitive national security investigations.

Don’t overestimate the influence of facts over what Republicans can say.
In a rational world every Republican event would be Four Seasons Total Landscaping.

This is extraordinarily frightening. I can't even imagine how he was able to remove this material from secure locations without pushback from those charged with guarding it. I have acquaintances in the Secret Service and friends/family in military positions where they handle this type of documentation, and after speaking with one of them about this they are terrified that it has been shared with people who should under no circumstances have access to it.

And yes, if it is Israel he may not have much time to play coverup. They are hard core about security breaches, and to be completely honest I would not blame them at all for taking action.

It might explain why Jared Kushner got a 2 billion dollar investment from a fund led by the Saudi crown prince, months after Trump left office, despite objections from the fund’s advisers about the merits of the deal.
