The "20 minutes" that seems to oddly specific. I've known quite a few people who were in Mitch's situation. He's in a critical care unit. Visits are limited to immediate family and usually not more than 5 minutes. Trying to talk, or just paying attention while someone else talks, takes a lot of effort and is stressful. The care team is not going to let him spend 20 minutes on the phone. Even if they did, there is simply no way he could keep up a conversation that long.

Nor on the many topics claimed to be discussed.

Whatever the case, there's only one asshole who, if he were to assume room temperature, would have any impact on the steamroller that's smashing our democracy into the dirt.

I asked Gemeni AI to make a turtle joke about Mitch McC. What do you think?:

Why did Mitch McConnell decide not to participate in the race against the tortoise?

He was afraid people wouldn't be able to tell them apart, and he didn't want to risk losing his reputation for being the slowest mover in Washington!

I think AI has a few more years to go before its ready for comedy prime-time. Sounds like something my 7 year old self would come up with.

Yeah, the AI is trash. It doesn't understand that moving slow is Mitch's entire strategy. The man's whole career was one long filibuster at 0.2 MPH.

To add the above, even though I know this is one of my many character flaws, I hope McConnell suffers.

Tough crowd.

I do wonder, though, how many here are against the death penalty for the worst-of-the-worst-of-society because it's "inhumane and barbaric".
Not I.
If a person has long since proven themself to be a scourge on society, they should be removed from society by whatever cost effective means that are convenient. I do not feel society has any obligation to maintain such an offensive individual.
If you aim for cost effective, life without parole is cheaper than the death penalty.
Personally I don't oppose the death penalty because it's inhumane, but because 1. It was never an effective deterrent for crime. 2. Innocent people may be and have been essentially murdered due to it. Of course the right winger will likely just oversimplify the argument and pretend the only reason is "inhumanity". But I'm just a crazy morally pure radical leftist who cares if innocent people die.
Yeah, although I do see a limited case for it: those too dangerous to keep.

I would remove the death penalty from the sentencing options. Instead, if you have life without parole and somehow get another life without parole the second one is promoted to the death penalty. And if you have life without parole and someone commits an offense that draws life without parole in an attempt to free you your sentence gets promoted. If the perpetrators are dead or unlikely to be captured look at the likely sentence the action would have drawn.

Under our current system of justice, that may very well be true. Under mine, Luigi Mangione may very well be guilty of nothing more than taking the law into his own hands.
He does not make a good poster boy--what he was after was experimental. While I agree that they can sometimes be slow to recognize accepted practice there's no indication that's what happened in this case. Patients get unreasonable hope about experimental stuff all the time. He was grasping at straws.

New theory that I just pulled out of my ….whatever:

Elaine Chao was carrying her husband’s cremains as part of her carry on luggage on her trip to China

If the death penalty is wrong, it is wrong

No one’s sentence should be affected by the actions of another person.

TDS is just a slang term for people overly obessed with Trump.
TDS is used mostly by the wright about people they see as negativly opinionated about Rump, (like me), But don't see TDS in themselves.
The irony here is that indeed, plenty of people DO have Trump Derangement Syndrome. It’s called MAGA.
(y)
Btw, how come nobody ever mentions that Trump has Biden or Obama derangement syndrome?

I we're talking about D.J. Rump, I agree.

I don't see it. Please elaborate.
