MSNBC is reporting now that GP has plead guilty to lying to the FBI.

Manaford is trained KGB, he wont flip...
He doesn't need to flip on Russia, just Trump. Russia doesn't care about Trump, they've already gotten what they wanted out of that meatbag.

Expect Cheetolini to pardon those involved, shortly...
Can't pardon without conviction.

According to Huffington Post he "has since been cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election." I do believe that we may have seen the first example of someone flipping. It's going to be very fun to watch the rest of this unfold.

Additionally, I don't think Manafort could be really considered "trained KGB". Sure, they probably had hookups and discussed mutual interests. But Manafort is a longtime DC lobbyist cum scumbag. He seems to like the international games beyond simply enriching himself. Whether or not he will flip quite hard to say.

Yep, Russia certainly doesn't care about FFvC nor Manafort. Putin must be enjoying watching the US politically thrashing about with a clown president at the helm...just one wave short of a shipwreck.

If what was reported of what Papadopoulos said is true, this would be a significant problem for Trump... and our nation.

Everyone get ready for "Trump isn't chargeable as a President" arguments.

Yeah flipping George Papadopolous is a big deal. And 3 weeks prior to today's indictments... Will FFvC go full berserker and and try to fire Mueller or ??? Tweeting isn't going to make this go away.

Some interesting tidbits on the Manafort family, as it could be that he has played too wildly with the money, and now Mueller is also tightening the financial screws. Throw in a recent affair by Paul and that could turn into a heady family tussle...
https://www.emptywheel.net/2017/10/30/some-thoughts-on-the-manafort-indictment/
The indictment is here and contains twelve counts for conspiracy, conspiracy to launder money, failure to file as foreign agents, failure to file proper financial reports and false statements. Notable also is the notice of forfeiture of both real and personal property, and any derivative property tied thereto.

The fact that the first shoe is Manafort is no surprise. What is surprising, to me at least, is that it does not appear that Manafort’s wife Kathleen was named. This may be a reflection as to the nature of the charges … the charges may only be for activity she was not involved in. Or not. But, make no mistake, she is involved in many of the charges for tax fraud and money laundering; she has solid exposure. Perhaps Mueller and Andrew Weissmann have already discussed this with Manafort and his lawyer, or maybe that is being reserved as leverage in a potential superseding indictment. But it is extremely interesting that she does not appear to be named yet. Stunning actually.

Add into the status of Kathleen Manafort that she and her husband are reported to be near broke as to liquid funds, and their real estate is already heavily leveraged and now subject to civil seizure at this point. And given the fairly recent outing of Manafort having a very expensive mistress half his age, things cannot be too cozy on the Manafort home front.

I'm always amazed at how people that are "wealthy" can't seem to live within their means... ie millionaires living like billionaires. I suppose that is how they become noticed by shady foreign entities that have money that needs some scrubbing.

I'm interested in what happens after the pardon, should it be granted and accepted. Manafort loses 5th amendment protection, and will be legally REQUIRED to spill the rest of the beans... that's why I doubt that a pardon would come on the heels of a conviction. More likely, FFvC will throw him under the bus and maintain he (almost) never met the guy, had no financial dealings or discussions with him, and deplores the illegal activity in which he was engaged.

Just an observation... RavenSky wins the thread for being first to pick Manafort as the first to fall.

Well, technically it was Papadopoulos since he pleaded guilty a month or so ago. I don't think that anyone, here or elsewhere, predicted that.

For grins I googled "nothing-burger" today to see if the any of the right-wing sites were still using it. You can always count on Breitbart to provide some entertainment. Sure, one senior campaign official indicted and another having pleaded guilty is not damaging in the least.

ETA: And Fox News's main headlines are what Trump tweeted this morning. Really.

Trump is strangely silent since his attempt to distance himself from Manafort this morning, alleging that 2006 through 2017 is "a long time ago".
What happened Donny Boy? Someone take your phone away and replace it with a piece of cardboard?

That plea is probably the bigger news. As shown in Ziprhead's post, one of the details in the court documents indicates a senior campaign manager wanted to send some low level campaign person to Russia so as to keep anyone from noticing.

Definitely the plea is the big news. It's absolute confirmation that there was collusion between the campaign and the Russian government.

I think that Mueller is playing a careful game of chess here. Showing that someone flipped a month ago brings up the question of who else may have secretly flipped to save their own ass. Hopefully it will inspire others to flip as well.

Who knows, maybe Kushner or Don, Jr. secretly plead guilty a week ago as well?

Manafort and Gates plead not guilty.

From Huckabee Sanders: “He responded the same way the rest of us in the White House have and that is without a lot of reaction because it doesn’t have anything to do with us.”

Yeah, I'm certain he was stone faced and went on with his day. All we do know is that he lost his phone.

I definitely think someone should plant that bug in Trump's ear. Mr. Paranoia will go bezzerk!
