I think the issue is, we are all uncertain what the heck any of this actually means. We are in uncharted waters at the moment. The Courts might be able to the right the ship, but the damning thing is that GOP is watching some unprecedented going on, and not a damn word out of them. It isn't like they are so isolated economically that they can afford for Musk to fuck up the global economy.

The courts have no actual physical power. That's all with the executive. This will not be solved without bullets and things aren't nearly bad enough for that to not produce something equally bad. (Look at history. Bloody revolutions are virtually certain to put some pretty vile people in power. Revolutions that help are pretty close to bloodless--people are so fed up with the situation that you get an Emperor's Clothes situation.)

We already lost it.
 
An agency head gives and revokes permissions for the agency's computer system. If the agency head tells their admin guy to give full access to X (no pun intended) then to X full access must be given. If he just flat out says no, he can be fired. It's not up to admin guy to determine who gets what access within the system.
Laws being broken? Probably none. Inappropriate or abuse of position? Likely. It would be up to a responsible POTUS to remove this agency head. That's where it all kind of falls apart, dunnit?
The issue is no one knows what they are doing. They could be telling Trump anything. He has to take it all on trust. The best explanation I've heard thus far is Elon's nerds are seeing if the government nerds are actually good enough to be in the positions they hold. Without an independent third party to verify all this though, we'll never know.
Is any of what Trump is doing justified? For my part, from what I've seen, definitely. I could give plenty of examples of the rot within. But there should be an independent third party overseeing and giving a final thumbs up or down on a person's career.

America has had minor tyranny before, President Adams, Wilson, Sen. McCarthy. Tyranny is fickle. We are at a cross road. We have other issues which have America sailing down a pre-1950 regulatory nation, but the Muskovite Regime isn't written in stone yet.

The problem is that if Their agency supervisors tell them to do it and they don’t they will just be sent home and shut out of their systems.

Even though Elon’s people are unelected and non-governmental, it is the actual government appointed officials that are complicit. I can’t believe that a few democrats voted to confirm the treasury secretary.

Demands and challenges by “little people” can be safely ignored. Especially if they’re not rumpsuckers. If there’s too many of them and they’re getting in the way, arresting or shooting them will fix the problem real fast.

In 2017, I attended the March fur science in Washington DC. I felt safe doing so. I will not lie—the risk of genuine harm to physical safety—and financial repercussions is much greater now and not to be taken lightly. By anyone. I am not planning to go to DC anytime soon, and certainly not by airplane.

But I’m not shutting up and I’m not backing down. Even if I did not have sisters and a daughter and nieces and great nieces and granddaughter and daughters in law, even if I did not have friends and family who are not white, straight or cis or born in the USA—I would not stop. I’m directing contributions ( $, time, labor), political and otherwise to where I think they will do the most good. I am doing my best to not miss a single chance to help those in need if I can. I am not obeying in advance. Indeed, I will not obey if I think that it is morally wrong to do so. Will it matter? I hope it helps others.

But it matters to me.

I was in Berkeley ca 1965 or 66 and got my first whiff of teargas. It was iirc an SDS protest, which now seems like very tame shit compared to what we now face.
What do you envision?
