For more than half a decade, advocates of the state Capitol have sounded the alarm about the $1.1 billion Capitol annex project. This venture is a textbook example of how not to run a public works project. All Californians will be affected by its rampant secrecy, nondisclosure agreements, massive cost overruns and the decimation of our treasured Capitol Park. Experts and appointed officials tasked with protecting the historic Capitol building have strongly argued for cost-effective, transparent alternatives that preserve the Capitol’s historic integrity and public access. But every concern was ignored. For instance, the new Capitol annex will be wider, longer and taller than the historic building it replaces, despite commitments to follow the Secretary of the Interior guidelines for historic properties. The annex’s glass exterior will clash with the original white plaster Capitol, visually overpowering the 1860s landmark.

Notably, the project has ballooned to $1.5 billion – that we know of. The entire state budget is about $321.1 billion in total state spending.

In a meeting with Charlie Kirk, Newsom gushes about how his 13 year old son is so excited about Charlie Kirk, he wants to meet him. In the next clip from a recent interview with CNN Elex Michaelson, Newsom says his son "wasn't a fan, just familiar with Charlie" WTAF?!! Newsom also doesn't know how his son had access to a phone while at school!! And Newsom also says his son is 11 or 12 years old!! ffs!!

As for bigotry, I don't think immigrants are inferior, but I do think you have a lot of cheek trying to grammar check someone for their use of a vernacular that you yourself struggle to produce, or pooh poohing someone for their position in a class structure that you obviously do not understand. No, eating mac and cheese does not make you a "gangster", it just makes you a guy eating fucking mac and cheese. Like a normal person would.

The problem is he speaks British, not American. Close enough to be mutually intelligible, far enough apart that there will be misunderstandings. Our early years we were working with a British--Chinese dictionary, most of the time I knew the British word but there were times we ended up stumped. And it took me a long time to find the British for "bills" (as in prospective laws). (Trivial now--this was before the internet, though.)

In the UK Parliament, such prospective laws are called "bills".

The US retained the British naming convention after the Revolutionary War.

Newsome wouldn't be my first choice, but I read the Republicans who are planning on running and compared to them, he's an outright amazing genius who should win in a landslide. The list included Don Jr. Should I vomit of laugh. It also included puppy shooting Noem, and Little Marco, as well as several other crazies. Even with all the shit that MAGA is doing to make it harder to vote, most any Dem should be able to beat the shit out of the Repuglithugs. They are trying to make it harder to vote by mail. SCOTUS agreed to take up a case about counting ballots on Election Day. Do these idiots not realize that even Republicans, including the military ones who are stationed overseas vote by mail and sometimes it takes longer than it should for the mail to arrive? WTF man!
