Newsom's Presidential Campaign

No way will Newsom be the candidate. There are plenty of better possibilities who would beat him in the Democratic primaries. No, I'm not going to name any because I don't want to argue about who will be the Dem nominee but I can think of a few who might be good candidates.
Don't leave us hanging. Whom do you have in mind?

Goodhair's embrace of race-based reparations will be an albatross around the neck of his presidential campaign.
Newsom is not viable as president.

Since launching his new podcast two weeks ago, Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom has taken aim at a number of causes popular among progressives: He’s rejected the term “Latinx,” said he doesn’t back trans women competing in women’s sports, and suggested he opposes taxpayer-funded gender transition surgeries for prisoners and detained immigrants. His more than 20-year political record in California tells a much different story. Newsom has repeatedly used the term “Latinx,” a gender-neutral term referring to people of Latin American descent. He’s also supported a number of policies over the years expanding transgender rights, including those for undocumented immigrants and even signing into law a bill acknowledging prisoners’ need for gender transition medical care.

CNN

It is slim pickings for the Dems.

Check it out for yourself. I've read about several who are considering running. I just don't have a favorite right now.

Sharpio? Whitmer. Cuban.

I agree that Newsom has too many albatrosses to be a strong 2028 candidate.
But I am also sure that somebody will emerge to take on the MAGA cult. I like Shapiro. Too bad he is not acceptable to the rabid left.

Not looking promising for the insufferable prick.

According to new aggregate polling results this week, based off a new spate of nationwide polling, former Vice President and former California Senator Kamala Harris is leading other candidates with 27.1% support, while California Governor Gavin Newsom trails in a distant fifth place with 7% support.

News

Of course this will not deter Governor Goodhair.

Jeezus, imagine having these two airheads ahead of you, Kackling Kamala and the bartender, most people would throw in the towel.

It would be a disaster for either Harris or Newsom to be the national candidate, so I'm glad their support is flagging a bit, but I can't fathom why apparently multiple outlets money polling four years early, especially for an election that is apt to be rigged anyway. If Trump is a candidate, he will be the only true candidate no matter who his backers choose to cast as the "opposition leader".

Is every election the democrats lose rigged? This is MAGA conspiracy theory territory.

If Trump is a candidate, he will be the only true candidate no matter who his backers choose to cast as the "opposition leader".

More conspiracy theory nonsense. Trump is quite elderly, he won't last for too much longer.

Unfortunately, since Swizzle Fizzle hates Newsom, and I do too, I might have to undertake an agonizing reappraisal of my dislike of Governor Big Hair.

But, nah. Greg Casar, 2028. If there is an election.

If the economy craters the Dems win the House in 2026. The Senate and most likely presidency 2028.

If it stumbles along, Don Jr takes over for his dad with a split House, Senate, and Presidency.

If the Dems win the house in 2026 they can't do much more than shut down the government funding and hold hearings that go nowhere.

Even if they gain all 3 in 2028, I doubt they can fix what's been broken already or what else dies before then. Too much loss of institutional knowledge. Who would go back to .gov or want to work there knowing it could all be over again with the next election.

Newsom wouldn't win. They need to find someone electable nationwide sooner rather than later.

Agree. We need someone very very chrasmatic and who can carry a swing state or two. It must must must be someone comfortable with economic issues and who wants to help all Americans. To me, the likely candidates who could win are Sharpio and or whitmer.

Presidential primary polls this early are almost completely useless. Look at how high KH is polling. Failed presidential candidates rarely get another at bat, and even Nixon had to sit out 1964.

Not flattering, for sure, but as I said, it's early days. It is only after midterms that people even begin thinking about 2028 seriously.
Besides, Kami might be running for Goodhair's job in 2026 anyway. Kinda like Nixon tried in 1962.

No, just elections in which the president is running for an illegal third term and has no intention of allowing a free and fair election to occur.

If Mr Trump believes in free elections, why does he refuse to promise that we will have one? Why does he refuse to accept the results of such an election? He's not a politician in the same way that Kamala Harris and Ron Johnson are. Trump has never made any attempt to disguise that his goal is dictatorship.

If and when he croaks, I'll stop worrying about it. A bagel with creamed cheese could win against JD Vance, but that isn't the future we're looking at right now.

Fair point but I like to take every chance I get to ridicule the insufferable prick Newsom. It won't do his ego any good to see himself so far behind the lame duck Kackling Kamala.

Failed presidential candidates rarely get another at bat, and even Nixon had to sit out 1964.

Indeed. If Kackling Kamala thinks she has a shot as democratic nominee, she is even more delusional than I thought. But you never know with narcissists.

Kackling Kamala will most likely opt for running for governor. And if she does, unfortunately she will probably win. #prayforcalifornia.

You are too funny. Kackling Kamala ran against a convicted felon etc, and lost big time. Unless of course you think the election was rigged.

No, BIGLY.

The margin of victory was 1.5 percentage points, which is considered the fifth smallest margin of victory in the thirty-two presidential races held since 1900.
He beat a girl with all the “shoulda been fatal” flaws you keep dwelling on (irrationally) - by a whopping one and a half percentage points. Congratulations to the Felon, but the margin doesn’t matter now.

The Republicans could elect a cabbage running against Jesus Himself, with enough help from Putin, Musk & Co.

?? It was one of the closest margins in history!
