No Kings Rallies Tomorrow

I'm concerned that Trump officials are going to authorize the use of force by ICE and other federal agents and we could have another Kent State on our hands. And/or Trump supporters get out of hand and we have another Charlottesville.

Marines were used to arrest someone who turned out to be a veteran on the way to the VA. It's already happening.

One is literally a block away from my house. My much better half and I are going.

She's a semi regular on the Stephanie Miller show and she is absolutely gorgeous.

Rally in my town was great. A good turnout, including a discreet police presence in the form of two inhabited patrol cars.

Lots of cars honking support. A myriad of different signs. My favourite was “Only you can prevent fascist liars” with a picture of Smokey the Bear.

I learned that taco means more than food: Trump Always Chickens Out.

I thought the issues of No Kings was resolved about 250 years ago?
No, the principle was created and then about 230 years of ritual followed. There was a hiccup in 1860 but that wasn'y a king issue. Otherwise, Presidents held to a specific protocol started by Washington... until 2020. And the weakness of our Constitution was exposed by a narrcissistic sociopath.

You'd fucking think so, but apparently some people are waxing nostalgic for subjection.

Before I get accused of misquoting someone, I would like to clarify my remarks.

They don't want someone called "a king", they want someone called "a president", who is elected every four years for the rest of his natural life, with unchecked legislative and executive power.

Has this been mentioned? -- I saw a short vid of Trump at some kind of press meeting where he was asked about No Kings. After some explanation, etc, he said, "No, we are not a king. We are not a king..." He used the royal 'we', and I couldn't help but wonder if he was joking, or was he prompted to say that? Or does it mean anything...

As demonstrated by some members of this very board there are plenty of Americans who would prefer a king delivering on their desires than have policy decisions made by a democratically elected Congress that has to compromise.

I’d say part Freudian slip, part dementia.
