North and South Koreas are normalizing relation

Yeah, I was thinking about this... what did Trump do that mattered?
I have no idea... remind me again what Obama did?

Nobel Peace Prizes shouldn't be given to politicians for just doing their jobs. Let alone for sort of looking like they're kind of half-heartedly trying to do their jobs.

And few will say (including Obama) would say Obama should have gotten that prize. Did you have anything else to add in addition to that strawman?

Only the last part: Nobel Peace prizes shouldn't be given to politicians for doing their jobs ;)

So you agree with us that Trump does not deserve and should not receive the award.

At the moment, yes, I agree completely. He hasn't done anything. IF there ends up being a lasting peace between N & S Korea... AND in the unlikely event that someone can make a really amazingly strong case that somehow that was due directly to Trump... THEN ***maybe*** I'll accept that he might be considered for it... but I'd likely still object.

The irony is that Americans seem to generally believe it was Trump's childish Twitter threats that brought this all about. Certainly they were a factor, but the main driving factor seems more to have been the isolation imposed by the international community generally and the heightened sanctions, which would have happened with any president. It is possible that Trump was crazy enough to try to invade or preemptively strike North Korea, but I don't think most people, especially Kim, expected that to happen. After the North Korean nuclear test area basically became unusable and China was cutting off needed supplies, Kim then played the card he had always intended to play--trade it all in for leverage at the negotiating table.

So why did you post a tu quoque fallacy (aka, “whataboutism”)?

I don’t see how.

Not with Trump, as has been demonstrated by Trump.

That screeching sound you may have heard was Trump's Nobel Prize chances.

article said:
North Korea says the US should carefully consider the fate of the North Korea-US summit, in view of what it calls "provocative military disturbances with South Korea," North Korea's state news agency reported early Wednesday local time.

The warning comes as KCNA reported North Korea has suspended talks with South Korea because of a joint military drill conducted by South Korea and the US.

And for the kicker...
article said:
However, the White House was caught off guard by the reports, according to aides. One official affirmed the State Department's assertion that it has received no information from Pyongyang about the status of the talks.
Of course they were taken off guard, they are apparently idiots.

I didn't. I posted a "Nobel Peace Prizes seem to be given out for no solid reasons these days".

So the meeting tomorrow is now off and the meeting with bonespurs is now questionable.

Covfefe, that Bolton is almost as much a Dotard as the Cadet...really mentioning "the Libya model of 2003"...just wow.

It has to be one of the worst diplomatic blunders in recorded history. Bolton managed to make North Korea legitimately worried about the only threat they care about.

Not sure if its a blunder. I don't think that either the USA nor Trump himself want true peace rather than tension in the Koreas. Trump just wants to look like he made a really good effort to play to his base that he is great and should win a Nobel.

What’s truly surreal is that the right spent all of Obama’s administration making up lies about how incompetent it was in order to pre-emptively compensate for the clusterfuck they knew would be coming next from their own ranks; as if they knew that the next right wing POTUS—whoever it may be—would actually be more incompetent than the lies they made up to disparage Obama.

Iow, one of the main reasons why the right do not seem to be all that upset about the Trump administration’s constant barrage of actual gross incompetence/outright stupidity is because their echo chamber from 2008 onward has been nothing but lies meant to disparage actual competence/intelligence, to the point where they now believe it is the left that are the liars and “fake news” etc.

It’s insidious for many reasons, primary of which is that those conducting it know exactly what the truth is and how they are openly manipulating their own—showing profound disdain in the offing—and the people responsible should all be facing firing squads on national TV.

While Bolton is capable of anything, Trump is going to look like a fucking idiot if they don't even manage to get to a summit meeting. He has hurrahed this way too much to be able to show absolutely nothing.

Both the Republicans and Democrats are utterly corrupt and incompetent. Trump just takes it to a more open, visible and comical level. You need to break the 2 party system. Vote 3rd party. Push election reform. Now is the time. If not now, after Trump got elected, then you never will.
