Equity means to guarantee fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all while striving to identify and eliminate barriers that have prevented the full participation of some groups. Inclusion means that all individuals feel a sense of belonging and know they are valued.
Bad beds, bad food , no A/C, and E Coli in the river is hardly that...IMHO

I always see it as exactly the opposite of woke/DEI. The athletes who are there, got there because they are the best of the best. Its a system based on merit and achievement. With DEI, race, gender, and sexual orientation are the primary factors in selection. Merit is secondary.
The thing that astounded me in the Daily Mail article about the Olympic Village is the preponderance of VEGAN food. For athletes! WTF? These people need meat!!

But if all athletes are included in the bad beds, bad food etc. then equity is being achieved.

Obviously some Olympics associated people in Paris are being the opposite of woke. Woke is about consideration for others, whilst bad food is the opposite, as also is river pollution.

Simone Biles will have a mediocre review for her black job, winning only three golds this time out. 
No surprise that the right-wing rag that is the Daily Mail would take the opportunity to equate efforts at sustainability and reducing negative environmental impacts (no matter how poorly executed) as being "woke". Conservatives use woke to label everything that upsets them and since they hate any acknowledgement that human emissions have harmful impact, they label it "woke".
As to France's efforts to implement these sustainability measures into the games, it seems rather poorly executed. There are world class vegan athletes, like Djokovic who just won Gold. But athletes need the diet they are used to to perform, and worms in fish is not good way to increase protein in the food. Now, 60% non-meat options isn't inherently a terrible idea, if they had tons of choices at each meal, which would still allow plenty of meat protein options. And similarly for A/C, most of the countries are probably used to not having it, but you cannot just take it from the athletes who are used to it. Although, the countries used to it likely have the resourced to supply their own.
As for "equity" there has never been equity at the Olympics. Wealthier countries, like the US, have often stayed elsewhere, especially wealthier individual athletes who could personally pay for it. That said, those who can only afford to stay and eat in the Village need to be given quality food and lodging. I'll be interested to see what athletes from smaller and less wealthy countries views are of the Paris village.
