Pelosi: Impeachment Is Moving Forward

House GOP members are 'absolutely disgusted and exhausted' by Trump's behavior, former GOP congressman - CNNPolitics
Former Republican congressman Charlie Dent said Thursday some of his former colleagues in the House of Representatives have privately told him they are "absolutely disgusted and exhausted by the President's behavior."

Dent told CNN's Ana Cabrera on "Newsroom" that House Republicans are standing with the President at the moment because of base pressure, but said "they resent being put in this position all the time."
That's likely also true of many Republican Senators.

As to Nancy Pelosi herself, I've found The Mean Mom of Capitol Hill - Commentary

It starts off with when Nancy Pelosi and some other legislators met with President Trump over Turkey and Syria, and it shows that famous picture of NP pointing a finger at Trump. She is not sure what she said, something like "All roads with you lead to Putin," and after Trump called her a "third-rate politician", the Democrats walked out.
She is effective not because she’s a woman in a man’s world schooling them like a boss or a queen. She succeeds because she expertly exploits an old trope to great effect: For lack of a better phrase, she’s the Mean Mommy.
Donald J. Trump on Twitter: "Nervous Nancy's unhinged meltdown! https://t.co/RDeUI7sfe7" / Twitter
with that famous picture. NP's daughter Christine responded:
Christine Pelosi on Twitter: "Looks like she owned you on #NationalBossDay. Been there. Don’t mess with mama! https://t.co/8unyy930Dj" / Twitter

NP held a news conference afterward, and she tweeted about it:
ABC News on Twitter: "Speaker Nancy Pelosi on contentious White House meeting: "I pray for the president all the time...I pray for the safety and that of his family.
"Now we have to pray for his health—because this was a very serious meltdown." https://t.co/JsAo4rT8TM
https://t.co/VqR34qAVtg" / Twitter

ABC News on Twitter: "Asked on her comment about Pres. Trump's health, Speaker Nancy Pelosi says, "I'm not talking about mentally, I'm just talking about just handling the truth." https://t.co/35Zg7cQ9nU https://t.co/GETtHRqufo" / Twitter

Donald J. Trump on Twitter: "Nancy Pelosi needs help fast! There is either something wrong with her “upstairs,” or she just plain doesn’t like our great Country. She had a total meltdown in the White House today. It was very sad to watch. Pray for her, she is a very sick person!" / Twitter
Trump responded like a kid who had just been scolded by a parent. He ran off to complain to his friends ...

It’s not the first time she’s infantilized him and he has responded like an undisciplined toddler.
Last May, in a meeting about infrastructure, NP criticized him for withholding documents. He then insulted her and others, and then walked out.
Kelly O'Donnell on Twitter: "“She is a mess” @realDonaldTrump on @SpeakerPelosi in what has devolved into serious personal attacks." / Twitter

She called it a "temper tantrum" and tweeted
Nancy Pelosi on Twitter: "When the “extremely stable genius” starts acting more presidential, I’ll be happy to work with him on infrastructure, trade and other issues. https://t.co/tfWVkj9CLT" / Twitter
... which is the political equivalent of a parent telling an angry child that she will discuss today’s snack choices with him once he’s calmed down.
The author seemed to sympathize with Trump and consider him picked on by NP and others: "Pelosi is as cunning a manipulator as any male politician, cunning enough to figure out that in dealing with Trump, being Mean Mommy is an effective strategy."

It does not seem to have occurred to him that Trump might indeed be acting very immature and that NP is giving him a very appropriate adult response.

Of course, Pelosi’s matriarchal power moves don’t work with everyone. She has a spotty record of success controlling kiddie progressives in her own caucus, such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar, and her Trump-scolding doesn’t play as well with those who aren’t partisan Democrats.
Likely because those women are more mature than the President.

If the Democratic House impeaches Trump but the GOP controlled Senate refuses to, it will still not help Trump's re-election campaign. If Trump loses re-election, and I strongly suspect he will lose, the right wingers will bitch and moan that the impeachment effort cost Trump re-election, whether it does or not. It will give the right wing moron media something to bitch and moan about for at least 4 more years. They will paint St. Trump as a martyr to unfair political dirty tricks, blah, blah, blah. Whoever wins election will be demonized in a manner that will only be called insane.

The problem for the GOP is, where to next? Double down on the crazy? Try to move away from the crazy? Who will rise to save the GOP from the crazies? How will they battle Faux Nooz idiocy to come? 2021 will be a very interesting year I suspect.

You mean just like the Dems have bitched and moaned since 2016?

Some people might call it "holding people accountable for their actions". I know as a conservative you might find such an idea difficult, but it does exist. Believe me.

What's that? Holding the " deplorables" accountable for voting the way they did in 2016?

How about holding trump responsible for the crimes he's committed? You know, that personal responsibility crap you conswervatives like to spew so much.

Fool! Don't you know that all wrongs stem from Democrats? Why are you trying to deny the truth? Do you work for the deep state?

Which crimes would that be, beating Killery to the White House in 2016?

I only know about American politics from what I read in the press. But could the sour faced Pelosi, as speaker of the House theoretically be impeached? If not, why not?

Campaign finance fraud, violating the emoluments clause, soliciting foreign interference in an election, soliciting foreign interference in an election again, misuse of a charity and that's not including the numerous sexual harassment allegations. Leaving those aside, Trump is still in the realm of Allan Bond/Christopher Skase in terms of white collar criminal at the very least.

I only know about American politics from what I read in the press. But could the sour faced Pelosi, as speaker of the House theoretically be impeached? If not, why not?

Yes, she can. Impeachment can happen to any Government official, including members of the Supreme Court. She hasn't done anything remotely impeachable, however, which is why it won't happen.

While the Senate, where the GOP have a majority, won't vote to impeach Trump. So it seems there's a deadlock, right?

But she's "sour faced". That should be enough, amirite?

Not really. It's a win for Putin and a loss for the United States of America.
The best that can be hoped for is that a bunch of those congresscritters who are parroting Putin's talking points and bizarre conspiracy "theories" might be taken out in 2020 in the aftermath of an impeachment trial that lays bare their treachery and mendacity. Trump himself is a non-consequential moron serving as a useful fool for Russian interests, as he has quite obviously been instructed to do. Unless the SCOTUS is totally perverted to the totalitarian rule of foreign interests, a second term for trump will be an inevitable disaster for him and the so-called party he represents. When his taxes are found to reflect massive debt to Russian oligarchs there will be an "aha" moment for the public, and the end of the line for whatever remaining elected Republicans are still pretending not to see what's going on.

Right now it is quite surreal to see those elected grown men mouthing words placed in their mouths by Vladimir Putin, denying the findings of all 16 American intelligence agencies in favor of Putin's fantasy. They have abdicated their sworn duty and joined with the enemy to destroy this country and its alliances. They should be shot. This is hundreds of times worse than anything the Nixon gang ever did.

Why do you hate the US so much that you want us to suffer for five more years with the most incompetent, corrupt, unhinged president we've ever been subjected to, Angelo? I don't really understand.

A portion of the globe have lost their collective minds. Brexit, the rise of the far-right in Europe, the French Presidential race between a business nobody and a far-right zealot.

In the US we have this latest poll.

There are two results to look at, one a bit comical, the other rather scary.
article said:
Fifty-three percent of Republicans said Trump was a better president than Lincoln, while 47 percent chose the Civil War-era leader.
A majority of Republicans say Trump is better than Lincoln. This is the comical part, though it does help lift the cloak off of the right-wing a bit. I remember a guy on a right-wing radio program talking about his new book on John Wilkes Booth... and pretty much presenting him in a positive light. So it isn't shocking that they view Trump favorably over Lincoln, because they are fucking idiots. Yes, I know, we aren't supposed to call fucking idiots "fucking idiots" because it doesn't help the dialogue... but seeing that they are fucking idiots... there is no dialogue to be had to begin with!

On to the scary part.
The Economist/YouGov poll found that 87 percent of those in the GOP either somewhat or strongly approve of the job he’s doing as president.
And here we get to what is very scary. Trump has had three primary accomplishments.
1) Negated a bunch of regulations created by Obama, mainly late in his Administration
2) Stuffing the Federal courts with very young and aggressively conservative justices
3) Passed a mammoth corporate tax cut

While these are things that would make the right-wing happy, Trump has also:

1) Trade tariffs (and/or war) with major trade partners and/or allies
2) Exited from TPP
3) Chummed up with North Korean Despot and shat on the CIA while talking alongside Putin
4) Weakened US alliances with Western allies
5) The whole Syria/Turkey thing that makes Obama's "red line" bluff seem less important

These are things that are far from being right-wing or conservative positions. And while there is the occasional bluster from the GOP on the above, it is generally fleeting, much like when Trump abandoned the Kurds in Syria for apparently no gain to American foreign policy. That he has such support from the right-wing despite his generally non-right wing position and his support seems largely drawn from his nationalistic positions and the joy his supporters get from Trump telling people off... and with Fox News being supplanted by OANN because Fox News just ain't pro-Trump enough... just seems to show the right-wing in the US are fucking out of their mind.
