Pelosi: Impeachment Is Moving Forward

One of these days Keith, one of your guys will hold the office of President and when Republicans move to impeach him, I don't want to hear one single lefty shouting, "Witch hunt!"

Said with a complete lack of awareness or irony. I'm impressed that someone can be so delusional.

Would you be less impressed if you realized that he is just a trolling liar? It's the simplest explanation.

Oh, it gets better. At one point the GOP said out loud their plan for what would happen if Hillary had won in 2016:

https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2016/11/republicans-are-already-talking-about-impeaching-clinton

Other Republicans are already using the “I” word. “Assuming she wins, and the investigation goes forward, and it looks like an indictment is pending, at that point in time, under the Constitution, the House of Representatives would engage in an impeachment trial," Texas Rep. Michael McCaul said on Fox News. “They would go to the Senate and impeachment proceedings and removal would take place.” Wisconsin senator Ron Johnson declared that Clinton could be impeached for “high crime or misdemeanor.” And Donald Trump, who has turned “lock her up” into a rallying cry at his campaign stops, said Wednesday that Clinton would be impeached just as surely as Bill Clinton was. “You know it’s going to happen. And in all fairness, we went through it with her husband. He was impeached,” the Republican nominee said at a rally in Florida Wednesday, adding that Hillary is “most corrupt person ever to seek the presidency.”

It will come down to who's base gets more riled up by all of this, and I think Trump will be much more effective at motivating his supporters based on this whole thing.
that's funny, because it looks to me like his base getting riled IS what riles up he r base.

Both sides are fictions created by the ruling class to keep us all busy. They cannot compromise or work together, as their disagreements and arguments are never made in good faith to begin with.

I know, right. Arguing humane principles and policies against authoritarianism is pointless. I mean, who can even tell the difference? pfffth.

Arguing about principles and policies makes considerable sense. Trusting a political party to determine your opinions on any of those matters is utter folly. Their position will be inherently self-contradictory and inconsistent with their collective action over time. They literally cannot find middle ground with each other, because it is not in their political or economic interest to do so any more.

Give you a little hint: both left- and right- wing media solemnly assure people that the Party is defending them against authoritarianism and immorality.

Let me give you a little hint. I'm not a right wing authoritarian follower, as most liberals aren't, and so we don't need a political party or candidate or politician to tell us what we believe.

It's the opposite, actually, at least with those of us who are smarter than political and religious cultists, meaning we develop our own principles and values, and then examine the candidates' and parties' platforms and policies to see if they meet our standards.

I don't need any politician or candidate to be some kind of perfect angel. They just need to meet my standards, and by and large, the Democrats do. None of them at 100%, but that's reality. The ones running reflect my values at a rate of about 70% to 90%.

As you probably know, or if you don't, pick any right wing authoritarian nearby and ask them, the Democrat party in the U.S. was once upon a time very racist. Also ask Condoleeza Rice about that one. She's a Republican because the Dems refused her father membership because he was black.

Political parties, like religions, and cultures, and people, and everything else, change and morph over time. At THIS time in our history, it is the Republican party that is racist as fuck and the Democrats are, and have for a long time now, all about fairness, equality, protecting rights, inclusion, diversity, and generally the opposite of the spectrum from Republicans in terms of principles and values.

It's possible, actually probable, that what we call the Democrat party in the U.S. will change and morph into something less reflective of humane values and might even become the party of racism again. Who knows?

But at this particular moment in our history, it is the Democratic party that cares about everyone's well being and rights, and not just rich white men's, and it is the Democratic party that is reflecting the values of democracy, while Republicans have somehow reverted to fellating King George as if the Revolution and U.S. independence never happened. And as long as Dems continue to demonstrate that they care more about people than money, about fairness more than power, and about law and order more than personal political careers, I will be voting for them.

Once again, most of us who call ourselves liberals are obviously not right wing authoritarian followers, obedience machines trained to worship authority and consider questioning to be a mortal sin, and need a strongman daddy figure to tell them what to believe.

Alex Bruesewitz on Twitter: "Schiff and House Intel Dems drank and cheered at fancy dc restaurant last night.
Rashida ‘Impeach that MF’ Tlaib posted this giddy video on Instagram today.
But Pelosi had the audacity to say on live TV today that this is a ‘somber day’ and no one wanted this.

Congressional Chronicle - Members of Congress, Hearings and More | C-SPAN.org - has the impeachment debate and vote, including Rashida Tlaib's statement on the issue.

CSPAN on Twitter: ".@Reprashida @RashidaTlaib: "I rise today in support of impeachment…This vote is also for my sons and the future of so many generations." https://t.co/tFHN1e3MAY" / Twitter

Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib on Twitter: "WATCH: Moments ago, I rose in favor of #HRes755. The impending vote to #impeach President Trump is about protecting the future of our nation and our democracy from corruption, abuse of power, criminal coverups, and bribery. https://t.co/aD9RCs6zXX" / Twitter

Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib Statement on Vote to Impeach President Donald Trump | Representative Rashida Tlaib
A sense of duty drives me to push back against any form of corruption within our government, especially within the office of the most powerful position in the world. We can't look away from the crimes he has committed, because if we do, it will set a dangerous precedent that endangers our democracy.

This is—and always has been—about protecting the future of our nation and our democracy from corruption, abuse of power, criminal coverups, and bribery for generations to come. It was my honor to vote yes today because my two sons, their children, and their children’s children will look back on this time as one where justice prevailed in the people’s House.

Note that Rashida Tlaib did not use profanity anywhere.

This is Ilhan Omar's only statement in the debate:

Scott Morefield on Twitter: "Listen carefully, and you'll hear Rep. @IlhanMN yelling "Stop it!" multiple times on the House floor when @GOPLeader brings up @RashidaTlaib's "impeach the motherf**ker" comments. What's the problem? Truth hurt? https://t.co/2bf6GtmnlY https://t.co/kpJrBqQCoK" / Twitter

AOC made no statement during the debate, though afterward, she slammed Tulsi Gabbard for her fence-sitting.

Twitter has don't nothing but make people more hateful and divided. These tweets remind me of young children throwing out the phrase, "I know you are, but what am I'. Then it goes back and forth and back and forth, accomplishing nothing and making it more difficult to ever get along or accomplish anything.

Blame the left. They have gotten so far out of control that they refuse to even listen to any conservatives and work with them.

It doesn't help when they claim stupid things like, "This is a somber day. It is very sad we have to impeach the President" and then they are seen smiling, laughing, cheering, and celebrating. Just be honest and admit you anted to do this all along.

Leftists are such cowards. Trump never holds back and always says what's on his mind. No wishy washy contradictions every 5 mins. That's a big reason why he won.

Not you, though. You're the model of open-minded compromise.

I would be open to them if they were open. But when they keep pushing socialism, its's hard for us to work with them. We all know how bad socialism is in every country where it was tried. And socialism is a transition period between capitalism and communism so it wouldn't be long before we inevitably move to communism, which has a death toll about 20 times more than Nazism.

But, the left is too uneducated. They think capitalism is evil instead. Like Ben Shapiro said, "Just because the left is coming up with radical new ideas doesn't mean they are good ideas."

You really need to look at the Nordic countries. Try Finland for example.

They aren't socialist. They have a capitalist economy with a welfare state. And you're expecting policies that work in a country of 10 million to work in a country of 350 million?

This is what I mean by education. Look up Mao's China, Pol Pot's Cambodia, Stalin's Russia to see just how well the people live under socialism/communism. Over 110 million deaths. Nazism? About 6 million dead. Yet, everyone tells us to be afraid of Nazism. Propaganda, no education.

U S E Y O U R M I N D S ! ! ! !

Well that was pretty dishonest. Claiming that liberals or whatever you call them are trying to go down the road that Mao went is exceptionally dishonest. You know that what liberals are looking at and advocating is the style of democratic socialism in the Nordics. I guess you and Trump have a lot in common.

No, the left admits comrade Sanders is a full blown socialist. He went on vacation in Russia. He wants to have the workers to own the businesses. He wants free education and free health care.

Like Fox News said he's like the guy running for class President saying, "I'll give you free stuff! I'll give you free lunches! I'll give you free food in the vending machines! I'll give you Fridays off! Mondays are optional!" Just ridiculous promises.

How do Democrats plan to pay for this free stuff? By raising your taxes of course! Choke choke choke! Republicans just increase the debt, not taxes. That's how we pay for wars. Democrats want to raise taxes to pay for everything. No thanks. I'll take the debt increasing since it's meaningless.

That's truly bizzaro. Universal healthcare and universal higher education for those who want it is a part of democratic socialism seen in the Nordics, with very healthy market economies. You realize that healthy and educated populations make for a better society? But of course that's not what Republicans want. They wont POWER and many want to force their Christianity onto everyone. You spew nonsense left and right. It's not worth engaging with you. Bye Bye
