Police Misconduct Catch All Thread

Right wing authoritarian morons have no choice but to excuse psycho abusers like these and instead find ways to blame their targets.

I think right wing followers should go out and pretend to be BLM protesters if they think they'll be safe from police. Not like the ones who pretend for the purpose of starting trouble, but really make any police or white supremacists nearby think you are with BLM and don't chickenshit out.

2) The crime for which we have the best data is murder. It's also pretty clear cut, you either killed somebody or you didn't. There's still a major racial disparity.

Many crime stats are freely accessible. Here’s crime data for the second half of 2019 in New York City. https://www1.nyc.gov/assets/nypd/do...planning/year-end-2019-enforcement-report.pdf

Black offenders far exceed any other group - and they have the highest victimization rate. Waving hands and spouting “systemic racism” does nothing to stop the carnage.

I said "the best data" in terms of clearance rate, not of accessibility. Most crimes have a clearance rate low enough you can't prove whether there's a disparity in the rate the crimes are committed or only in the rate the perps are caught.

He cooperates completely and they still do this.

That cop thinks they're playing Simon says.

That's fucked up.

But hey, it's the cops. Gosh, I don't know why so many people are protesting *checks notes* unconstrained police violence.

Bodycam footage of the 13 year old autistic kid getting shot.

Hmm, I would have thought police treating a 13 year old kid with autism like a heinous criminal and gunning him down would prompt more discussion.

Louisville has settled Breonna Taylor's wrongful death lawsuit - CNN
Multi-million settlement reached in Breonna Taylor lawsuit - Yahoo

From Yahoo, Louisville will pay a sizable sum of wergild, or in this case, wifgild.
The city of Louisville will pay millions to the mother of Breonna Taylor and reform police practices as part of a lawsuit settlement months after Taylor's slaying by police thrust the Black woman's name to the forefront of a national reckoning on race.

This has been all over the news this morning. Taylor was murdered by the police. She was an innocent woman and so it was easy for her family to get a decent settlement. Still, I'm a little bit surprised that it happened so quickly.

The grand jury decided that the officers were not to blame. Her boyfriend had his charges dropped back in May. The whole incident was just an unfortunate misunderstanding I guess, like slipping in a shower?

Officer Hit By Bullet During 'Ambush' Actually Shot Himself, Say Police

John Michael Goulart Jr., an officer in Pineville, Louisiana, is accused of having "altered the facts" after shooting himself on Sunday, the police department said.

Goulart said he had been shot once in the leg, with a second bullet hitting the rear door of his police car, while he was at a shopping center in the city.

On Monday, Deputy Chief Darrell Basco, the Pineville Public Information Officer, said the officer had come under fire after being "ambushed."

Local news station KALB-TV quoted Basco as saying: "There were shots fired at the officer. The officer didn't return fire on anybody. He was exiting the patrol vehicle at the shopping center whenever he was ambushed by an unknown person at this time and two shots were fired. One striking him, and the other hit the vehicle."

However, on Tuesday the department announced that an investigation had "led to a determination that the officer shot himself, concealed and altered the facts."

Angry Floof, how did you do it? Listening to it and writing it? Using some speech-to-text software?

For text in image files, I use OwlOCR, a nice app from the macOS App Store. You may be able to get similar apps for Windows or Linux or Android or iOS.

I have some audio to text software but where I have a problem is getting a download of the audio and then running it through. But I've done transcription for a long time so it wasn't too hard to just transcribe from scratch by listening to the youtube video. It's pretty much verbatim except I left out a few "you know"s and "So"s and filler words like that, although not all of them.
