Who the f is Carter Page?

Wiki said:
Page worked as an investment banker with Merrill Lynch in London, New York and Moscow (2004-2007). In Moscow, he held the title of vice president and COO for that office's energy and power department,[4] and worked on transactions involving Gazprom and other leading Russian energy companies. According to businesspeople interviewed by Politico in 2016, Page's work in Moscow was at a subordinate level, and he himself remained largely unknown to decision-makers.[1]

After leaving Merrill Lynch in New York in 2008, Page founded his own investment fund, Global Energy Capital; his partner in that venture is former mid-level Gazprom executive, Sergei Yatsenko.[1] The fund operated out of a Manhattan co-working space. Other businesspeople working in the Russian energy sector said in 2016 that the fund had yet to actually realize a project.[1]

...

Page was the recipient of an International Affairs Fellowship (1998-1999) from the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), and has remained a consistent participant and contributor there since his fellowship, for instance with at least 9 panel appearances for CFR events between 2007 and 2009.[5][6] He has also written columns in Global Policy Journal, a publication of Durham University.[1]

He has expressed views in support of Russian president Vladimir Putin[1] and harshly criticised U.S. policy,[4] and was characterized as "a brazen apologist for anything Moscow did" by a U.S. official.[3] He is frequently quoted on Russian television as a "famous American economist".[1]

Jeff Sessions met with the Russian ambassador back in July, but told Al Franken in the AG confirmation hearing that he hadn't. Jeff Sessions is in charge of the investigation of contacts between the Trump campaign and Russia. No conflict of interest here, folks.

No end to the comedy of this administration.
This is yuge. While in theory he may have a reason to talk to the guy based on his position in the Senate, this guy was talking to other Trumpers during the campaign. This is deeply disturbing which brings me to the next very disturbing question.

I don't like Trump, but I also don't see why this is "deeply disturbing". Calling it "deeply disturbing" seems overly dramatic

Trump gave permission to Russians to hack Clinton's emails on television. That's a big deal.

Trump was helped by propaganda and misinformation campaign by the Russians. Also a big deal because it had some affect on the election.

There's allegedly a thing about Trump and prostipeers which is not a big deal until one considers the risk of blackmail.

Several Trump staffers met with Russians and then denied it, even under oath. Their meetings might not be a big deal, unless it's related to the above. Moreover, their perjuring of themselves IS a big deal because we can't now get to the bottom of the reasons for the secret meetings. This is so serious it has led to one resignation so far.

If Trump staffers were aware of election propaganda by the Russians and there was collusion, Trump should be kicked out of office.

Furthermore, it is important to remember that for at least the last half century or more, the Republican Party has thrown up a red (pun intended) flag whenever the slightest bit of Russian influence was detected. The Russkies were the enemy of choice for the GOP going back to...well..always. Now that their President is cozy with the Kremlin, suddenly Moscow is no big deal.

Aware of it??? The only evidence provided in the (un)intelligence (propaganda) report, was some reporting by RTNEWS. The idiotic claim by some (un)intelligence people was that RTNews posted some article critical of America or Hillary.

Are you saying Trump staffers were unaware of RTNews?

Hello?
Who cares?

Most people in the world would prefer to avoid nuclear war. Too many stupid Americans who grew up on John Wayne movies and Stupid Hollywood films don't realize the importance. Are you in that category?

Why do you and so many Americans want tension between America and Russia? Did you watch too many Hollywood movies?

So, democrats being cozy is fine, but not republicans.

Really? Doesn't the report also mention Sputnik, Gucifer 2.0, and paid trolls?

Are you saying Trump staffers were unaware of RTNews?

You must have missed the word "collusion."

LOL to John Wayne reference. Oh yeah, he so commonly watched in pictures these days.

I wonder if anyone's done a count?
How many movies where nukes were used and it's presented as a good thing,
how many where nukes are used and the world becomes an apocalyptic hell,
how many john wayne movies where nukes are used, whatever the outcome?

I would simply like to know what will the Russians get for helping elect Trump. Will Trump soften up Nato. Give us the rest of Ukraine? Poland? Syria? No tarrifs on imported vodka?

By a certain measure, simply the chaos is reason enough.

While they could put their thumbs on the scale for a certain candidate, I doubt they really think that would result in them getting an America that lets them do whatever they want. An America embroiled in controversy, with constant scandals occupying every waking moment, and different factions fighting for power causing disorder in our foreign policy, that might be reason enough. The thing is, they would have gotten it even if Clinton were elected. If she were, you can bet your boots she would investigate the hackings. And then the republicans would complain that she is using this as a pretext for cracking down on their party and initiating a communist takeover, or whatever.

I agree. The optimal outcome for Russia would have been a narrow victory for HRC, followed by civil unrest and lots of trumpsters in the streets with guns. They overshot the mark, and now they have to deal with a loose cannon of their own creation. It might take yet another act of collusion with the Russian government to get rid of him.

I don't know... Right now Trump is doing airstrikes in Syria to help the Russians and Assad.

And you think Clinton wouldn't have?

No. I think the US administration was trying to work against the Russians, Assad AND ISIS or at least that's what I heard. From Wiki:
At the direction of U.S. President Barack Obama, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) was put in charge of the operations, worth about $1 billion annually, to arm anti-government forces in Syria,[109][110][111][112] an operation which began in 2013, more than two years after the start of the civil war in 2011. Prior to 2013, the CIA only supplied certain rebel groups of the Free Syrian Army with non-lethal aid, but later began providing training, cash, and intelligence to selected rebel commanders.[113][114][115]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American-led_intervention_in_Syria

That's the distinction I was making in the previous post.

And you think Clinton wouldn't have?

Likely no. Hillary was a neoconservative, DLC Democrat. Essentially, the plan had been to topple Assad for a long time. They don't give two shits about Syria other than the fact that it is provisionally allied with Russia. And part of that philosophy is countering Russia even when it's clearly fucking stupid just to maintain the USAs role as 'world police'. And that's because neoconservative are basically a bunch of chickenhawk boomers who are stuck in the Cold War.

It was called the Cold War. It was Russia that wanted problems with the US.

Bull.Shit.
