I listened to retired police officer (russian-american at that) who is pro-authority and he said that you don't put yourself in front of the car but if you do, then you should let it go if they merely try to leave. That is police procedure for that.
It's also just
common sense. If the goal is to get the car to stop quickly before it runs you over, shooting the driver to death while their foot is still on the gas makes no more logical sense than it is ethically defensible. If the goal is a criminal conviction, the video would show intent to kill on the part of the driver. Jump out of the way like normal unintelligent human being, and
then arrest them for attempted homicide. Playing with guns solved neither problem, endangered all parties, and opened the "officer" up to an accusation of murder.
All true, but she is dead becasue she consciously put herself into the confrontation with poorly trained idiots with guns who on top of that, let's be honest, are being constantly harassed by others like her. Was it really worth it?
Not all of the law enforcement are exemplary. They even make mistakes sometimes.
Oh yes, they do. I make mistakes, too. Yesterday, I accidentally cut someone off in traffic. Mea Culpa! Last week, I forgot to water my trees before going to bed, and they weren't happy about it the next day, the vibes in the yard were all off.
But there's different kinds of mistakes, you know? Some mistakes are minor goofs. Some are crimes. And some are violations of the most basic rights of an American citizen - life, and liberty. If the "mistake" in question is illegally murdering a civilian for expressing their first amendment rights? The criminal who made that particular mistake should receive a trial before a jury of their peers as is
their right, and if they are found guilty, shortly thereafter an expedient trip to the electric chair, because for a federal agent, that is the penalty for committing a capital crime* in furtherance of their duties. This isn't about being "nice". This is murder we're talking about, and violation of rights more befitting a second-world shithole than an affluent nation. Our president may suck your emperor's hairless dick for ballroom-gilding money, but this still
isn't Russia. Not yet, anyway.
