The hush money indictment

So now the allegations can be tested. But Trump is still innocent until proven guilty.

Now that the first domino has fallen are there other pollies that need to face the music?
Nope, because of context.

All this crap about hush money could have been settled in 2017. 6 fucking years ago. The reason this is still in the news today is because Trump delayed and delayed and delayed. And then cried Executive Privilege. I don't condone or endorse this, but when you go out of your way to be uncooperative towards law enforcement, they tend to get frustrated and take it out on you. I don't endorse such action but I'm not going to defend the person who is being obnoxious towards law enforcement either.

The biggest irony is that some of the people complaining about how Trump is being treated in this case are the exact same people who say "well if black boy cooperated he wouldn't have got shot" with a total lack of self awareness. And with both comparisons, Trump is still being given preferential treatment. Fucking amazing.

Well, Trump is a rich white guy being prosecuted by an uppity black “liberal” DA . Add in he got some nooky from a porn star and he becomes a hero to a certain sector of society.

After these state charges I hope the feds will charge him under the RICO Act.
The list of racketeering possibilities.

I actually find myself wishing Trump was younger.

The conservative radio was buzzing yesterday with a thousand conspiracy theories about what "really happened" to frame their beloved leader, and oddly confident assertions that the court will somehow exonerate him of all wrong-doing. Funny how conservatives don't mind police executing poor people in the street if they're accused of being "thugs", or detaining or stealing property from a homeless person on the presumption that loitering must be some sort of self-proving crime, but arrest a rich man for tax evasion? Suddenly they're all legal scholars, and highly committed to the principle of innocent until proven guilty.

That was a good read!

On a related note what happens if Trump gets elected in 2025 before this case concludes and he is found guilty whilst serving as President?

I don’t see that possibility being discussed anywhere and I am curious about it.
If it were federal charges, upon his inauguration, congress would have to take up the responsibilities.

This is a state issue so it is states' rights being left up to the states and people according to the Constitution.

That said, Trump as an American oligarch in charge of the Party of Hypocrisy would challenge any attempts to contine trial during his Presidency. Due to urgency, it would go to the conservative Supreme Court immediately, granting him relief, stating the American people chose him anyway and the conservative judicial activists would further state it cannot be allowed because rogue municipalities and states could arbitrarily go after any sitting President undoing the will of a democratic election.

It was said on CNN this morning that the Georgia prosecution was moving faster than people know.

Bb-b-b-but Derec promised me it was all misdemeanors!
No, I said it was misdemeanors that Bragg worked really hard to make into felonies.
Note that when he first took over the office, he didn't want to prosecute actual felonies, to wit most armed robberies, as felonies, and only public pressure led him to abandon that policy.
“Most felonies”? Do you have actual evidence to support your attempted smear of a black DA?
Fuck no! He can’t even face the fact that Trump is charged with CLASS 1 felony falsifications of records. Bragg didn’t “make it” a felony, it was a felony when Trump allegedly did it. But in the <mod edit> mind of an INAT, it can’t be possible that their fascist mascot ever did wrong enough to be busted by some off-color NY lib’rul.

Georgia needs to come to trial sooner than NY.

Why?
Personally I was kinda hoping to get the E Jean Carroll case settled before we get totally serious about all this.

In the words of the iconic old movie mobster-gangster, "I'm just an honest businessman, this is all a mistake. The DA is making this all up. I am innocent. I did nothing wromg".

Trump is as corrupt as it gets. Going by rule of law, the only way they got Capone was tax evasion.

It oes not take a PHD in psychology to see Trump is metadata ill. Maybe he can claim dimished mental capacity.

I was impressed by the DA or persecutor who held the post arraignment press conference. Very stromg and competent.

Yep. Lays out in clear and unambiguous language what illegal activities took place, then goes into more detail about each and every criminal act. In an echo of Capone, the downfall in this case is that the Trump Organization did such a good job of documenting every aspect of the criminal scheme.

How did CNN know? Is this an admission that they are employing non-humans??

The kicker in all of this is that if the supposed “billionaire” had just reached in his pocket and forked over $130,000 cash, none of this happens. None of it.

Trump is just so insanely criminally stupid, he chose to do it in pretty much the only way possible to make it a felony—by using campaign funds to pay hush money to a porn star, painfully clearly in furtherance of remaining more “electable” as a candidate, and then leaving paper trails all over the place of himself covering up that he used campaign funds to pay hush money to a porn star do he could remain electable.

I know there’s such a thing as an own goal, but Trump invented a special new level of own-goalness with his sheer stupidity. The only things on this planet dumber than this corrupt fuck are the mouth-breathers who continue to idolize him.

Do you really think what Trump did is worse than taking a knife or a gun to a bodega and robbing the place? But I know, I know. Lefty excuse for robbers is "how he gonna get his money?"
Yes, what Trump did in NY, in GA and in Washington DC was orders of magnitude worse than ribbing a bodega or a bank, fir that matter. Trump was attempting to subvert free and fair elections.

What could have been considered misdemeanors were elevated to felonies because they were committed to cover up other crimes: election laws and possibly tax laws.

If we do not have free and fair elections, we do not have a country. If the laws do not apply to everyone, then we have no law.

Someone mentioned measuring the level of corruption and incompetence in Russian government in "Putins." We need a similar measure for rightwing stupidity. We can call it the "Donald Scale."

Bold - Really?

By paying hush money to keep Daniels quiet while Trump was campaigning was a campaign contribution in-kind. That is the felony. I've read nothing that the money he used to do this was campaign funds.
