The Marjorie Taylor Greene case

"Too bad they can’t understand that the Earth’s climate has been changing since God created the Earth."

I never understood this argument. How do these people know that the climate has been changing over history? Well, they know from what climate scientists tell them. You know what else climate scientists are telling them?

So, if you want to impeach the source of information for one piece of information, how does that not impeach the source for all pieces of information?
Don't be silly; The main way to determine whether a given piece of information is true or false is to ask "Do I already agree with this?".

All that "logic", "reasoning", and "consistency" is just a trap set by Satan to ensnare the unwary.

No, the historical record comes from the geologists, the paleontologists and the like. They're talking about history, not making projections. Thou shalt not make a projection we disagree with!

MTG reads bizarre right wing sites and believes al she reads.
....
Greene pushed the debunked claim that the Biden administration was providing crack pipes for "racial equity."

"I read in the news the Biden men is funding crack pipe distribution to advance racial equality," she stated. "I'm not sure how crack pipes advance racial equality. As a matter of fact, I'll go ahead and state for the record, I believe we're all equal. I think crack pipes are probably leading to furthering the drug problem, not helping it."
....

The idea that she should check these tall tales for accuracy befores she blurts out foamy lipped lies is a foreign concept to her.

Why should she be concerned with accuracy? The lies don’t get her in trouble. They boost her position because the entire GOP believes them and are energized by them.

It's been awhile since we've heard from Georgia's craziest member of Congress.

Since Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis indicted former President Donald Trump for interfering in Georgia’s 2020 election, U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has been on the attack.

The conservative firebrand has labeled the criminal prosecution of Trump and 18 others as a political vendetta and chastised the district attorney for ignoring more serious crimes in Atlanta.

On Tuesday, Greene spread her criticism to her fellow Republicans, most notably Gov. Brian Kemp. On Tuesday, Kemp defended the state’s voting system via social media in response to yet another false claim by Trump that the 2020 election was rigged.

Greene, R-Rome, compared Kemp’s rebuke of Trump to standing with Willis and co-signing her investigation.

“His message should have been against this, not arguing with President Trump about the election and making it about his own ego and pride over Georgia’s election,” Greene said. “That’s a bad statement, and I was very upset over it.”

Greene questioned whether Kemp’s statements could erode his support among GOP voters in the future. She referenced Kemp’s rumored 2026 U.S. Senate run — the governor is term-limited in his current post — and wouldn’t rule out challenging him in a GOP primary for the Senate seat.

I don't think Kemp, if he does decide to run for the Senate, needs to be worried about a primary against Greene. Kemp is a popular Republican in Georgia, while Greene is an embarrassment outside of her district, although she is may be popular in a few other very rural areas of the state. I'm thinking of the parts where there may still be Trump and God signs up near each other.

Marjorie Taylor Greene dreams of the future.

.....
She added: "I have a lot of things to think about. Am I going to be a part of President Trump's Cabinet if he wins? Is it possible that I'll be VP?"
Greene said would "very, very heavily" consider being Trump's running mate if asked, saying it would be "an honor."
......

Or maybe she will run for the Senate.

Translation: "I'm going to hold my supporters hostage if you don't put me on the ticket Donald!"

I see this kind of behavior as something that Donald Trump has played a major role in shaping over the past several years. The general breakdown in civility has reached the level of schoolyard bullying. There was always some of that going on, but not quite to the same extent that it seems to be happening these days.

Folks…this is a sitting member of Congress.

@GOP will make a fuss about dress code but allow this shit to go on…hell, even encourage it.

This is despicable and childish.

This poor excuse for a human needs to be removed from office or censured at a minimum.

On Monday, after she criticized Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman for wearing a hoodie on the Senate floor, he pointed out that there are other forms of decorum. He reminded her of when she displayed nude images of Hunter Biden during a House hearing.

Back in May, Greene found out how much her Democratic colleagues respect her desire for decorum when they raucously laughed at her after she told them, “Members are reminded to abide by decorum of the House,” she said, only to spark raucous laughter.

Text - H.Res.610 - 118th Congress (2023-2024): Censuring Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene. | Congress.gov | Library of Congress

Rep. Balint, Becca [D-VT-At Large] (Introduced 07/25/2023)

No cosponsors, however.

It has a big list of nasty statements and threats of violence from MTG.

Dem Lawmaker Takes Down Majorie Taylor Greene On House Floor | HuffPost Latest News
Balint’s resolution says Greene “repeatedly fanned the flames of racism, antisemitism, LGBTQ hate speech, Islamophobia, anti-Asian hate, xenophobia, and other forms of hatred.”

That includes Greene speaking at a white nationalist event last year, calling Black Americans “slaves to the Democratic Party,” posting doctored videos online, spreading 9/11 conspiracy theories and defending the Jan. 6 insurrectionists, among other reasons.
