The Marjorie Taylor Greene case

"Peach tree dish" Why am I not surprised at this person's ignorance?
What dish is she speaking of? We have two peach trees and the only remotely dishy thing about them is the watering basins.

Or is she perhaps actually speaking of the lower half of her skull as there's nothing in it?

MTG likely meant "Petri dish" when she said "peach-tree dish". This was what she was referring to:

Bill Gates wants Western countries to eat ‘synthetic meat’; Meatable has raised $47 million to make it | TechCrunch
noting interview
Bill Gates: Rich nations should shift entirely to synthetic beef | MIT Technology Review

Meatable is one of several artificial-meat startups.

A Petri dish is where one grows small organisms in a lab so that one can research them.
Yeah, I was just wondering if she's not hearing well that she keeps getting things wrong. This one is at least legitimate words but I doubt she knew the soup one.

She's a moron. That explains it all.

Thank-you Captain Obvious. There's something about placing brain in gear before engaging mouth.

I'm going with moron.

I agree she's a moron but that doesn't get the soup. That seems to me more likely a hearing issue.

That seems to me more likely a hearing issue.
You sound like my late mother. Every time there was a crime reported she'd say "They must have been on drugs." Greene doesn't sound like the kind of person that does much reading. How can someone be as old as her and not heard of a petri dish? If she was half intelligent and heard "peach tree dish" she should have chuckled like the millions who laughed at her. But she's just that stupid. That's all.

She doesn't have a hearing issue. She certainly has a listening issue and an intelligence issue.

Can peach tree wood be made into a good bowl for cold soup? Or is it only for artificial meat and the the like?

We all make mistakes with words. I remember my neighbor talking about the other neighbor's dog, the "Laboratory Receiver." These mistakes are a window into the person. In Greene's case it simply demonstrates her general ignorance.

I am happy to stipulate that many members of the QOPAnon Party, especially MTG, are stupid and ignorant. In fact she reminds me of nothing more than that famous scene in Chinatown:
Evelyn 'MTG' Mulwray: I am stupid and ignorant.
[Jake Gittes slaps her]
MTG: I am evil and nasty.
[Jake slaps her again]
MTG: I am stupid and ignorant.
[Jake slaps her again]
MTG: I am evil, nasty AND stupid and ignorant.
[MTG breaks up into sobs. The Jack Nicholson character suddenly understands the confusion.]

HOWEVER,
MTG likely meant "Petri dish" when she said "peach-tree dish". This was what she was referring to:

I've more sympathy for Spoonerisms and other misspeakings since I've noticed my own aphasia symptoms. For example, in another thread I just now wrote "why is a profit without honor in his own country?" Fortunately I review posts before clicking 'Post' and catch nearly all (I hope) such gaffes.

Maybe Greene checks things before posting as well. No matter how many times she checks "peach tree dish" it isn't gonna fix. That's because she's not a bright or curious person, just an opportunist and reactionary who like her hero Orange thinks she's terribly clever and intelligent when in fact she's ignorant, unread and uninformed.

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia has hired Milo Yiannopoulos, a 37-year-old former Breitbart editor and "alt-right" activist, as an intern in her official Washington, DC office.

"Mummy always said I'd end up in government!" Yiannopoulos wrote on his Telegram account on Monday.

Greene confirmed the hiring to Insider in a defensive statement that included a transphobic remark about Democratic Rep. Marie Newman of Illinois' trans daughter.

"So I have an intern that was raped by a priest as a young teen, was gay, has offended everyone at some point, turned his life back to Jesus and Church, and changed his life," she said. "Great story!"
So much for "NO GROOMERS!".

I saw that. Let's see how well he does as an intern.

Supposed Anti-Pedophilia Lawmaker Hires Person Famously Outcast for Minimizing Child Sex Abuse – Mother Jones
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) loves accusing people of supporting pedophilia.

During Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Supreme Court confirmation hearings, Greene levied the accusation against the Democratic Party and a select group of moderate Republicans, all because of a bad-faith argument that Jackson was lenient when sentencing child-pornography defendants.
Not surprisingly, MTG is sympathetic to QAnon.
For those blissfully unfamiliar with Yiannopoulos’ comments on sex between children and adults, all you really need to know is that they were bad enough for the editor-in-chief of Breitbart News to call them “indefensible” and “appalling.” Yiannopoulos had defended sex between adults and boys as young as 13 and bashed child sex abuse victims who came forward as adults. He has since said that his comments were an effort to cope with the sex abuse he experienced as a child. Yiannopoulos resigned from Breitbart in 2017.

Since then, Yiannopoulos has gone on to be a fundamental part of a new push from the far-right to fundamentally change the Catholic Church in the United States and across the world.

... In early 2021, Yiannopoulos completed the journey, announcing to LifeSiteNews that returning to a traditionalist form of Catholicism had helped him become “ex-gay,” and he now planned to build a Catholic-based conversion therapy clinic in Florida, to be called the Milo Center.
Ex-gay? MY has not provided much evidence of being heterosexual.
As Yiannopoulos conducted a publicity tour around the alternative media universe of the Catholic right, he theatrically threw away an engagement ring he called his “sodomy stone” and quipped about the need to “make the Vatican straight again” and “make America homophobic again.” By July, he’d become a regular columnist at Church Militant, where he paired his trademark acidity with a laser fixation on the “cult of homosexualism,” which he described as “a reimagining of a very old, pagan form of worship.” He also claimed that women who miscarry after receiving Covid-19 vaccinations have effectively aborted their children, and declared that “sometimes one feels the only good bishop is a dead bishop.” By fall, he was appearing on Church Militant’s home-shopping network, flogging an $88 “Adoring Virgin” icon—a “good Mary,” Yiannopoulos promised, unlike some less physically attractive depictions—and a CD set of him reading Psalms and Proverbs for $75.
MY's statements about pedophilia remind me of someone early in IIDB's history who seemed very conflicted about it.
