The Christian Dominionists are here in positions of power, gaining in numbers and influence. The threat of Islam is magnitudes less. Yet you ignore focus on Islam. Fascinating.
I don't ignore it. But I do recognize that islam is gaining power and influence as well... and that the harm it can do is massively worse.
I don't know the appropriate terminology. I might have at some point, but if so I've forgotten it. So you're going to end up with a lot more words here than is probably necessary. And you're going to suffer through things based on my real experience.
Health insurance right now is facing two serious cost risks, but they're of extremely different natures. On one hand is AI-assisted fraud and upcoding. On the other is NSA claims.
The AI issue is real, and it's a problem that's adding to costs. Providers are using AI to amplify and upcode claims, turning a low-grade infection into a sepsis code, or turning normal temporary intubation during anesthesia into ventilator dependency. They're also in some cases using AI to generate entire false claims, snipping bits of verbiage out of real claims, and recycling digital x-rays as supporting evidence. That's bad... but most of those are for small to moderate cost. They're a problem, definitely. The incidences are of higher volume, but the cost impact for each incident is smaller. Right now, they're adding on the order of $10 per member per month in excess costs. That's rising, but the best projections right now have that topping out around $25 PMPM.
The NSA issue is also real, and it's adding to costs as well. Providers are engaging in technically legal behavior that is extremely abusive in nature. They refuse to contract with insurers, and exploit loopholes in the NSA laws - predominantly anesthesiologists and supporting surgeons, with a smattering of other services mixed in. They refuse the average contracted rates offered by the insurer, and ask for payment that runs 5x to 20x normal. I recently saw one where the anesthesiologist for a routine colonoscopy rejected the usual and customary rate of $250 and wanted $35,000 for their 30 minutes of service. And the dispute process is awarding the provider's amount on average 85% of the time. The incidences are lower, but they're for much higher amounts. Right now, they're adding on the order of $80 PMPM of excess costs.
Both are bad. Both need to be addressed. Both are increasing in impact. But one has a lower overall impact, and the rate of increase is lower. The other is rarer, but of much higher impact and is increasing faster.
The overall impacts are not the same. Both are a concern, but one is a much greater and more dangerous concern than the other. And that's how I look at this.
Christian dominionists exist, yes. What they want is something I oppose, yes. But they exist throughout the world, and they control no governments. The most dramatic influence they have actually had within our lifetime is restricting abortion. That's bad, but it's something women can survive and fight back against.
Islam exists also, and what that religion wants is something I oppose. They also exist throughout the world, and they control several governments. In those governments they have stripped women of basic rights within our lifetime - no right to vote, or to be educated, or to own property, or even to leave the house without a male escort, being required to cover themselves entirely. That's an entirely different order of risk, and if it gains a foothold, it's something that women lose the ability to fight against in a meaningful way.
The risk of islam is greater. And it's growing.
You seem to want me to ignore the rabid wolf circling camp and focus on the cockroaches under the bed.
