The trials of the Capitol assaulters

I agree with the comment above that it’s moot, really. They WILL get into the safe. The combo allows you to still have it after they are done.
And that's a choice for the owner of the safe to make.

The worrying thing to me isn't that the police are able to get a warrant and open the safe; It's that if the safe can be non-destructively opened by someone other than its owner or someone he has explicitly decided to give access to, (including the police, or even its manufacturer), then it was never secure to begin with, and all safes of that type are, in fact, unsafe.
For dial-type safes there are robots that have a decent chance of opening them non-destructively.

For dial-type safes, there have been humans that have a decent chance of opening them non-destructively, for longer than there have been electronic computers, much less robots.

WASHINGTON — A former Republican candidate for governor of Michigan was sentenced Tuesday to 60 days in prison for committing a federal crime during the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Ryan Kelley, who was arrested during the Michigan gubernatorial primary last year, pleaded guilty in July to a misdemeanor count of entering and remaining on restricted grounds, admitting he "rushed past U.S. Capitol police officers" and "used his hands to support another rioter who was pulling a metal bike rack onto the scaffolding." Prosecutors also said he ripped a tarp on the inauguration stage.

Former police chief sentenced to 11 years for involvement in January 6 Capitol attack

A former California police chief who brought a hatchet to the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and gave prior speeches calling for the execution of his perceived political enemies, was sentenced to 11 years in prison Thursday.

Alan Hostetter, 59, was sentenced to 135 months – a little over 11 years – Thursday by US District Judge Royce C. Lamberth, for his involvement in the Capitol riot.

In July, Hostetter was found guilty of conspiring to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of an official proceeding, entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon, and disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon.

Prior to the Capitol riots, the retired La Habra police chief spread several conspiracy theories about the 2020 presidential election, according to a release from the Justice Department.
Buh bye.

Disturbing to think these guys will all be turned loose with license to kill, if Cheato’s continuing coup attempt masquerading as an election campaign, should happen to succeed.

FBI arrests three January 6 defendants in Florida after prolonged search

The FBI on Saturday arrested three people in Florida who were charged in connection with the US Capitol attack on January 6, 2021, and were considered fugitives after fleeing from law enforcement.

Jonathan Daniel Pollock, Olivia Michele Pollock and Joseph Daniel Hutchinson III were taken into custody early Saturday morning, according to a press release from the FBI. They are scheduled to appear in federal court in Ocala, Florida, on Monday.

The arrests come on the third anniversary of the attack on the Capitol. The legal system is still grappling with how to handle the hundreds of individuals who stormed the Capitol to keep then-President Donald Trump in the White House.
