Trump to Address Nation Tonight

[ZiprHead]

Jimmy:

If someone cannot comprehend that deliberately sowing mistrust about the security and fairness of our elections with blatant lies is not a threat to democracy in and of itself, let alone the attempts to reduce participation and to strong arm states to do his unconstitutional demands, no amount of explanation is going to change their stupid opinion.

[Tigers!]

Still can’t back up your claims. Sticking with the “orange man bad”.

Guy went on national television and lied through insinuation that the 2020 election (not the 1876 election) result was tampered with. So yes, Trump is bad. Very bad!

Maybe so...

Not maybe. He did that. As in really did that. He juxtapositioned it in his address, he has not stopped saying 2020 was stolen, and the documents he released to support his allegations showed nothing regarding the votes being tampered with.

...but what has that got to do with the so called "threat to democracy"...

Saying a fairly held election was fraudulent is a "threat to democracy". There is no other way to resolve that. And that is ignoring his riot attempt at seizing the election of 2020.

I don't understand how saying off the wall shit is a "threat to democracy". I don't know what Trump said exactly, I didn't watch any of it.

Well, gosh... didn't The Daily Mail report it? He implied that foreign nations (China) fudged our election results.

What has changed since Trump's crazy talk that threatens demcoracy?

About half of Republicans agree now that 2020 was stolen.

There are more fools in the US than I thought possible.

As a note, the crazy talk started in 2016 when he was saying only election fraud could cost him the election. Heck even in 2016/2017 he said he really won by millions of votes.

Sigh

[ZiprHead]

*yawn* You are still whining about a minor event from almost six years ago.

Trump tried to steal the election using a violent attack on the nation's capital. The attack was part of a several pronged campaign to steal it, using fake electors, disruption of the real elector vote count, and the cooperation of Mike Pence.

[bilby]

There are more fools in the US than I thought possible.

You lack imagination. I am unsurprised by any number of fools below 100% in any given population of humans.

No government in history has felt the need to establish a National Blithering Idiot Reserve to protect against a projected shortage*.

* Unless we count the District of Colombia, Canberra, and Ottawa as such facilities

I was trying to give the yanks the benefit of the doubt. No more.

Perhaps add 10 Downing St to that august list.

Partisan fools. The misnomer about Trump is that MAGA is merely yokels. The people that stormed the US Capitol Building back in 2021 were generally middle class, white collar management folks. Granted, having a white collar and being management doesn't make them super smart by default, but these people aren't idiots, they are just obsessively tribal.

These people have been ingesting BS on cable and AM radio and they are completely and utterly misinformed. It seems the 2026 election will be about the GOP defeating the Communist party.

Correct! While the 2020 coup attempt lacked military backing, it was a conspired plan to seize power despite the election outcome.

The only people still denying what millions of us saw ‘live’ with our own eyes, are the very stupid, and the very well fooled into thinking this perverse administration benefits them more than any alternative.

The people for whom that is actually true or potentially true, are not you, me, anyone on this forum, or anyone who any of us are close to. Those who stand to realize the promise of epic riches, number in the few hundreds, if that.
Nationwide though, the wannabes number in the tens of millions. Therein lies the phantom power of Magatism.

Yeah. I like to make fun of them as bumpkin-ass yokels, but far too many people I know voted for Trump three times. Their professions include attorneys, a psychologist, and a registered nurse.

The stereotype that urban folks are the ones who are uniformed and intellectually deficient is just that: a stereotype.

The RN I mentioned above made a post on Facebook just yesterday about the threat of Sharia law being taught in public schools. It was genuinely difficult for me to just leave the site without tearing into him. I'm just gonna have to wait a few days to speak with him lest I go off on him. BUT GODDAMMIT, HOW HYPOCRITICAL AND FUCKING STUPID DO YOU HAVE TO BE???

I don't know what you or Trump mean by "fudged our election results". And so what that he said it? Adam Schiff is probably still banging on about Russian interference, what ever that is.

What has changed since Trump's crazy talk that threatens demcoracy?

About half of Republicans agree now that 2020 was stolen. As a note, the crazy talk started in 2016 when he was saying only election fraud could cost him the election. Heck even in 2016/2017 he said he really won by millions of votes.

So? Why should I care what they think?

It is getting so bad, it is bleeding into the Democrat voters as well. Trump has singlehandedly put our secured elections into doubt along primarily his MAGA supporters, among some of the GOP supporters, and spreading across the aisle. When people doubt the veracity of elections, they will generally question anything, regardless the rationality the doubt has or doesn't have. Leads to things like riots at the US Capitol Building, where the cop friendly, MAGA hat wearing middle class white collar protestors started beating on cops and caused the US Capitol Building to be evacuated.

Get over it fella.

Your position that what Trump isn't threatening democracy is absurd in the light of the conspired attempt to throw the election of 2020 to a vote of Congress (not the certification vote, the vote where the states representatives vote state by state on the outcome), going as far as to editing the VP statement on the election. That wasn't a threat, it was a plot that was only held up in the GOP by two people, McConnell and Pence. Pence, that guy Trump said on social media didn't follow through on the theft "Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done."

*yawn* You are still whining about a minor event from almost six years ago.

You are such a snowflake that you cannot abide shit on the sidewalk but you think that an attempted violent overthrow of the government is something to yawn at? A minor event?

[scombrid]

Thinks that removing food safety monitoring infrastructure and discouraging vaccination is good too.

[TSwizzle]

You are such a snowflake that you cannot abide shit on the sidewalk but you think that an attempted violent overthrow of the government is something to yawn at? A minor event?

"attempted violent overthrow of the government"?!! lol!! By the vegan loser in the silly hat?!!!

My sides are hurting from laughing.

What would you call it, Woodstock '21?

Trump egged those people on for months and encouraged violence. Then the cunt tried to weasel his way out of it by saying, "I didn't tell them to do that." Then the asshole sat and watched it on TV and never ordered anyone to stop it. It's quite reasonable to believe if that crowd would've gotten its hands on Pence and all the other politicians they were there to kill that Trump would've attempted to stay in office.

If our Constitution meant jack shit to anyone in power, the orange fuckstick would've been arrested for incite to riot just for that day alone.

Oh, and children being murdered in schools is no cause for alarm or action but a single empty bucket getting shot on January 6 is proof of an authoritarian government?

[ZiprHead]

Who's the hot oriental woman sitting next to trump on the dais?

[ZiprHead]

He's desperately trying to not fall asleep

[ZiprHead]

He's desperately trying to not fall asleep

It ain't workin'

[Politesse]

These people are idiots.

I can understand lying when the MAGA might be too stupid to know. But are MAGA really too stupid to know that this is a lie?

I have personally eaten at Olive Garden on several occasions, and I refuse to believe there aren't hella MAGA people dining there regularly. The servers probably hear "Eye-talian" more often than "Italy".

If you mean the District of Columbia, most of the people who actually live there are perfectly nice, and many are highly intelligent. They just aren't in charge. It's a neverending battle between native competence and visiting politicians.

I know some fairly smart people who are absolute idiots about some things. Unfortunately, a significant number of them harbor a lot of racist sexist nativist beliefs and coupled with a general dissatisfaction with how their lives have turned out have decided, like many people, that it's not their fault so they believe all the racist, sexist, nativist bullshit an ass like Trump trumpets because it relieves them of any responsibility for how their lives turned out and because it allows them to continue to worship authoritarianism on an unconscious level.

[Spacetime Inhabitant]

There is always some new travesty coming from Trump, literally every day. Two current ones are that he wants a re-do of the Correspondents' Dinner, due to the interruption by the alleged assassination attempt at the previous one, and imposing more tariffs on US allies because he claims they are supporting slavery. There is only one Western nation supporting slavery and that is the USA. Examples are the treatment of Amazon workers, the low wages paid to workers in the US, with many people having to have two or three jobs to survive, sweatshops in the US and also overseas owned by US companies.
