AOC on coronavirus rescue bill - Rep. Ocasio-Cortez on the coronavirus relief package: “We really need to make sure that the dollars and dimes actually make sense and add up for a working family’s expenses for a month.”

AOC proposed a moratorium on all major payments, payments like rent and mortgage ones. Her interviewer, Chris Hayes, noted that some European countries have adopted the approach of guaranteeing people's pay, with governments filling in for businesses that don't have much cash info. AOC responded that the Senate bill has $500 billion for businesses with no strings attached, no having to provide sick leave, not forbidding layoffs, etc.

About small businesses, one has to get loans to them quickly, not over several months.

"Look, Easter is a very special day for me," Trump told Hemmer. " ... And I say, wouldn't it be great to have all of the churches full? You know, the churches aren't allowed, essentially, to have much of a congregation there. And most of them -- I watched [services] on Sunday online and it was terrific, by the way. But online is never going to be like being there. So I think Easter Sunday, and you'll have packed churches all over our country, I think would be a beautiful time."

This quarantine will work. I guarantee it. April 12 we will be up and running. The cases are going to start declining in the U.S. starting around the next few days. By April 1, we will see a steady downstream and be on our way out.

It's interesting that if 8-10 MILLION Americans die, that's up to God,mwhat happens happens. And that's just the death rate assumingbwe have enough staff, medicine, beds, etc. However many die from the lack, or from healthcare workers suffering (C19, exhaustion, PTSD), also inshallah.

But the economy? Big Business? Those are too important, we cannot allow 'if it happens, it happens,' and WE need to take firm, decisive, and protective measures, not depend on the whims of a skybeast, or fate.

So, from here on, anyone who is supporting Trump's efforts to save the economy at the certain cost of human life had better shut the fuck iip on abortion. Their true loyalties have been highlighted nicely.

what quarantine would that be, halfie? There's no national lockdown, just some states. Those that are not run by 'power of prayer' spouting morons holding elected office.
How will 'this quarantine' be effective in places there is no such restriction?
April 12 we will be up and running. The cases are going to start declining in the U.S. starting around the next few days.
how will we know, if we still don't have enoigh test kits to truly map our current position? What will be used to say 'cases are declining'? Tarot? Ouija? Scrying in mirrors?
By April 1, we will see a steady downstream and be on our way out.
How? How will we see it? We aren't testing anyone unless they show symptoms or appear on national television.
Describe, please, the path firward to acquiring these crucial metrics you are predicting. Show your sources (and be sure to identify any major arcana in your research reporting).

Pay no attention to the fake-news fearmongering about the coronavirus. It’s all political hype. Things are going great.

Why are you still trolling?

Obviously the lockdown can not work that quickly for a couple of reasons. Utmost, the virus supposedly remains in the body for 5 weeks. So even if there were no new cases starting today, we'd have a clock set for 5 weeks.

Then the other issues. Firstly, most states aren't in lockdown. Secondly, the cases don't start slowing down for a week or two after a lockdown starts. Of course, even in locations of lockdowns, there has been issues with people still getting together, so the lockdown is a soft lockdown.

So by early April, the cases slow down acceleration in some areas. The peak is after that, then the new cases start decreasing. No new cases would be no closer than four or five weeks, at the most ridiculously optimistic expectations. Merely having fewer new cases would be reckless justification for ending lockdowns.

A shut down taking only five or so weeks was maybe possible end of February or very early March, before over a million Americans contracted the virus (including unconfirmed cases)!

I repeat my offer to HL -

WANNA BET?
USA is now just behind Italy in active cases, gaining fast and is just getting started. Italy has over 1000 cases per million citizens, and USA only 166. By the time we get to 100/m there will be millions infected.

Trump's Half-Assed, Half-Witted non-response is a criminal act of genocide.
Bodies will be piling up for months to come.

I think it is telling that Trump cannot stop using adjectives like "great, wonderful, special and terrific" in his press conferences.

It is literally impossible for me to begin to express how reassuring this is.

And this claim is based on what knowledge and evidence, exactly?

Are you an epidemiologist? A virologist? Any kind of biologist at all (perhaps you took an undergraduate class in epidemiology a few decades ago)?

Or is this confident claim just more Dunning-Kruger?

Here's what's going to happen if Trump ends the shutdown after 15 days.
.

You don't seem to understand much... .

By the time Trump re-opens the economy, the people who have it now will have recovered since it takes about 2 weeks to recover.New cases should diminish as a lot of people stayed inside for 2 weeks with minimal chance of exposure.

My goodness what made you believe THAT from whoever lied to you? What made you repeat it without checking?

People are not recovered in 2 weeks.
People will START to feel sick in two weeks. They will FINISH feeling sick three weeks after that.

Not to mention that the Trump who didn't close anything has no power to open back up what he didn't close.

Obama probably would've shut the whole country down and just told poor people, "buy food for a few weeks" as if poor people could afford to do that.

Stupid derail attempt.
