Trump VS COVID-19 Threat

Even a completely useless mask (that stops nothing in either direction) is an effective reminder to everyone who sees somebody wearing it that we are in a pandemic, and can serve to inspire distancing, hand washing, sanitizer use, and other genuinely effective behaviours.

Went out for supplies this am, wearing an N95 mask in a grocery store for the first time.
It definitely keeps people at bay, since they don't know whether you're wearing if for your benefit or theirs.
Certainly inspires distancing!

Trump has been going all in on chloroquine.

From Saturday:

That was right after Fauci said there is no evidence yet about lupus and covid.

Also on Saturday.

And on Sunday, when someone asks Fauci about chloroquine, he butts in.

Q And would you also weigh in on this issue of hydroxychloroquine? What do you think about this? And what is the — what is the medical evidence?

THE PRESIDENT: Do you know how many times you’ve answered that question?

DR. FAUCI: Yeah —

Q But I’d love to hear from the doctor.

THE PRESIDENT: Maybe 15. Fifteen times. You don’t have to ask the question.

Q He’s — he’s your medical expert, correct?

THE PRESIDENT: He’s answered that question 15 times.

This is bizarre even for him. And moments later, unrelated to chloroquine, this how the press briefing ended.

Q Sir, on the equipment issue, records show that federal agencies did not begin —

THE PRESIDENT: Oh, stop it.

Q — did not begin —

THE PRESIDENT: Who are you with? By the way, who are you with?

Q With the Associated Press, sir.

THE PRESIDENT: Who you with?

Q The Associated Press. Agencies didn’t begin bulk —

THE PRESIDENT: That’s another beautiful — that’s another beautiful (inaudible) —

Q — bulk purchases of respirators and N95 masks until mid-March.

THE PRESIDENT: Are you ready? Are you ready? Let me just
answer your question because I know exactly — you know, the same question you ask all the time. Ready?

Q It’s the first time I’ve asked this, sir.

THE PRESIDENT: They have done an unbelievable job in delivering —

For the Associated Press, which is, you know, not so great, not like it used to be.

The people that you’re looking at — FEMA, the military — what they’ve done is a miracle. What they’ve done is a miracle in getting all of this stuff. What they’ve done for states is incredible. And you should be thanking them for what they’ve done, not always asking wise-guy questions.

Thank you very much, everybody. Thank you. Thank you.

What a horror show.

You realize he's only advising people to use it if they are on their deathbed from the virus with no hope of recovery, so they should use it since they have nothing to lose. They will either die anyway, or get better.

He never said, "Use it if you feel symptoms right away." He said to use it if you're on your deathbed with no hope of recovery because you have nothing to lose at that point.

Plenty of people find this sensible and reasonable, except the people with severe TDS.

Plenty of people find this sensible and reasonable, except the people with severe TDS.

... and those with lupus or malaria who can't get it any more. Listening to that buffoon for medical advice has already killed "plenty of people".

"Plenty of people" are fucking morons.

that's sort of what he's saying, now. Not how he first presented it as a promising treatment.
Plenty of people find this sensible and reasonable, except the people with severe TDS.
And people with lupus.
And people with rheumatoid arthritis.
Doctors who took that oath-thingy.
And probably Dr, Fauci, but he isn't allowed to comment.

This is still sacrificing people's lives to sell a buddy's drugs.

Well, he never said to use it willy nilly, or steal it from people who need it for those things.

TDS makes you think he said that. It's really gotta stop. The "Trump can do no right" cult gets us nowhere.

As usual you are just plain wrong, he said this two days ago:

"they say taking it before the fact is good. But what do you have to lose? They say, “Take it.”

You can check for yourself at the White House website:

Now you have your new marching orders, however, so feel free to change your tune so that your Earthly God does not look bad in front of the unbelievers.

No, it's like a last ditch effort. It's not sacrificing anyone's life, Keith. They will die anyway even if they don't try it. Even if there's a 0.000001% chance of living, people would try it.

Most stores here limit the customers; everyone waits outside in a straggly line. Some stores require masks.

You mean he is too stupid to anticipate how his low-IQ followers will react to his words. I don't think that's the case - he has demonstrated near total control of them.

The "Trump can do no right" cult gets us nowhere.

We certainly don't need to go where the Trump Can Do No Wrong cult has taken us.
More Americans dead in a month than in all those endless wars PINO promised to end.
You never did answer - how's your IRA doing?
Or do you not have one because you're not as well off after busting your hump all day, as Joe homeless guy sitting on HIS porch in front of HIS home, drinking (your?) beer?

Wrong, see my previous comment above. Trump is recommending that healthy people take it as of two days ago. I was very much not surprised to learn today that Trump actually has a stake in the French company, Sanofi, which produces the brand name version of hydroxychloroquine, Plaquenil:

it is, Halfie. As soon as he started talking about the drugs, people who actually need it suddenly found their actual prescriptions impossible to refill. Those people are more scared of shortages, mow, than they were about COVID19.
They will die anyway even if they don't try it.
feel free to show the prognosis proving this for all cases.
Even if there's a 0.000001% chance of living, people would try it.
yes, i agree. Which is why it was fucking irresponsible for the Presiturd to make his claims. Desperate people who are not in immediate danger are hoarding the drug, and takingnit without knowing the proper fosage, and withholding the drug from those who need it.

The onlynones benefitting are Big Pharma and The Orange Shitgibbon's campaign fund.

Cases are already slowing down. This is exciting news.

That doesn't mean we can go back to normal. If we get the case counts low enough we can ease off on the lockdown, but going back to normal would basically just put us back to a month ago--case counts would begin shooting up again.

So, you're saying we can't reopen the economy until nobody in the whole U.S. has it anymore? That isn't realistic. We'd be waiting forever, then.

We don't shut down if 1 person gets the flu.

I gotta hand it to the workers at WalMart - and I say that very grudgingly. They are doing a superlative job keeping things clean and managing traffic. There are sanitizer gel and wipe dispensers everywhere. Shelf stockers wear gloves and masks, checkers wipe down between every customer, and the self checkout lanes have people with spray bottles following every person who checks out. Most of all, they all seem very upbeat. I was impressed!

so, what steps did he take to ensure the pharmacies were braced for the sudden interest? To protect everyone with an established need for the drug?
Show something to indicate he was ever aware there mightbbe consequences to selling his buddy's drugs on the show?

We don't shut down if 1 person gets the flu.
And again, it's not the flu, Halfie.

There are signs that people who survive this disease can get it again.
If we go back to normal interaction without a vaccine, we're just going yo do thus all again.

It's a mutated version of the flu, yes. A more evolved form. Some people are more prone to it than others, just like the flu.

It is bad out there, but plenty of experts say that you can't get the virus from touching surfaces or cardboard. That's just the fear mongering. Making customers and store workers wear gloves and masks gives it a more scary and deadly look. Media wants you to be afraid.

I was at a Walmart recently and one person said to the cashier, "Don't give me the pennies. I heard the virus can live up to 4 hours on the pennies." He took the nickels and dimes, though. I laughed silently to myself.

Ever see crabs in a barracks, Halfie? One sailor brought it in. Soon, thrre were crabs in 40 bunks. I mean, like almost immediately tjose things spread.

Thry stripped out and treated all the occupants, all the blankets, mattresses, pillows, clothes, in all the bunks thst tested positive, and four bunk rooms beyond the identified boundaries.

Whsy you want to do is like cleaning only the ten worst bunks, then letting those sailors move back in. Theccrabs will just keep spreading and reinfecting, and re-reinfecting... all because of one injudicious sailor, and stupid mismanagement of yhe barracks.

It was a stupid thing to say. Hydroxychloroquine is a very dangerous drug, the side effects can be lethal.
