Trump VS COVID-19 Threat

Historical rankings of presidents of the United States - In the two ratings of Trump so far, he has been rated worst and third worst. In the second rating, he was beat out by James Buchanan (2nd worst) and Andrew Johnson (worst).

Joy Reid on Twitter: "Is there any remaining doubt that this is how @realDonaldTrump will be ranked by historians? The tragedy is so many are living - and dying - this historic coronavirus tragedy now (on top of migrant caging, Charlottesville etc) with no way to compel him to do anything different. https://t.co/jQzy7Zh3NT" / Twitter

#MediaBuzz on Twitter: ".@gayletrotter said PBS correspondent Yamiche Alcindor asked President Trump "a hostile gotcha question" and "misrepresented" a statement from Trump. "He was right to push back, and where is the spirit of 9-11 in these reporters?" #MediaBuzz" / Twitter

Mr. President, @realDonaldTrump, I’ve asked you fair & relevant questions on your evolving approach & rhetoric regarding coronavirus. For example, last Sun., I asked: You've said some governors don't need the equipment they're requesting. How might that impact your decisions? 1/3

You denied saying that & said: “Be nice.” Yet, days before on Fox News, you said, “I don’t believe you need 40,000 or 30,000 ventilators.” You have since repeated that sentiment. Yesterday, you said of states: “Sometimes when they know they don't need it they want it anyway.” 2/3

Now, there are more than 328,000 confirmed U.S. coronavirus cases & more than 9,300 people have died. You have said the next two weeks will be the toughest. I welcome you to come on PBS NewsHour for an interview on your administration's response & how Americans can stay safe. 3/3
What a petty and spiteful President.

"There will be death" -- Trump

"It is critical that certain media outlets stop spreading false rumors and creating fear and panic with the public," Trump says, without mentioning which specific stories he's mad about

Trump keeps saying that the 1918 flu pandemic happened in 1917, which is wrong

Trump criticizes New York for asking for tens of thousands of ventilators: "When they know they do not need it, they want it anyway. It gives them that extra feeling of satisfaction, but we cannot do that. It is not even possible. We are a backup."

Trump on his call with sports leaders: "They want to get back. They gotta get back. They can't do this. Their sports weren't designed for it. The whole concept of our nation wasn't designed for it. We're gonna have to get back. We wanna get back soon."

Trump on invoking the Defense Protection Act: "You could call it retaliations. Because that's what it is. It's a retaliation."

Trump accuses the media and Democratic governors of conspiring to make unreasonable ventilator and PPE requests of his administration

Trump on the coronavirus: "If you were fighting a normal fight, you'd know what's happening. Here, they hit one, they hit another, they hit another state. They hit areas that you didn't expect. But we're watching it and we're capturing it."

"caranavirus"

Trump has trouble reading the word "hydroxychloroquine"

Trump pushes unproven drugs that he thinks could treat coronavirus: "There's a study out that people with lupus aren't catching this horrible virus ... maybe that's correct, maybe that's false. You're gonna have to check it out."

"Remember, we had the greatest economy in the world"

DR FAUCI on this coming week: "We're gonna be seeing that there are gonna be deaths that are gonna continue to go up."

"We have to open our country. I had an expression: The cure cannot be worse than the problem itself." -- Trump's tone has reverted back to wanting to get the economy back up and running as soon as possible

"Restaurant man" is the new "sir"

Trump claims he doesn't want to issue a nationwide stay at home order because "we have a thing called the Constitution. Which I cherish." (The Constitution does not prevent him from issuing the order.)

Trump on Americans who are currently social distancing at home: "They want to go to work the way, by the way. They don't even want -- they don't want money. This country is great."

Asked about the firing of Michael Atkinson, Trump repeats the same misleading talking points he used throughout impeachment, such as the whistleblower report being false (it was accurate) and Atkinson (who was appointed by him) having anti-Trump bias

"Somebody oughta sue his ass off" -- Trump on the whistleblower (reminder: the whistleblower's account of Trump's dealings with Ukraine was accurate)

TRUMP: I watched what Cuomo said today, and it was fine. I wouldn't say gracious

REPORTER: Why does it matter if he's gracious?

TRUMP: It doesn't matter ... I know he appreciates it, but he just can't get the words out

Trump promotes an article from The Federalist, which was recently blocked from Twitter for promoting coronavirus parties

Trump justifies firing of Captain Crozier, captain who sounded alarm about coronavirus on his ship, because only about 10 percent of people aboard had the virus. Trump also claims it was "inappropriate" for Crozier to publicize the situation.

Trump attacks 3M for trying to fulfill contracts abroad amid coronavirus: "The people that have dealt with him have dealt successfully with many companies over the last month. They don't like the way 3M has treated our country. They don't frankly like the representatives of 3M."

TRUMP: "I hope they use the hydroxychloroquine ... I hope they use it because I'll tell you what, what do you have to lose?"

Trump rails against OPEC: "It's an illegal -- you could call it a cartel."

Trump on how his son Barron is dealing with social distancing: "He's in his room. He's happy, but he's not as happy as he could be. He'd like to be playing sports."

Trump on hydroxychloroquine, which Dr. Fauci says is unproven: "I may take it. I'll have to ask my doctors about that. But I may take it."

Trump has no idea how coronavirus is transmitted from person to person and therefore doesn't get why packed churches amid a pandemic is a bad idea. This clip of him talking about how he considered an Easter exemption from social distancing shows it.

Immediately after Fauci makes an impassioned case that social distancing works, Trump says, "but again, we're not going to destroy our country. We have to get back ... we have a big decision to make at a certain point ... the cure cannot be worse than the problem itself." 😳

"A lot of the states had chances of stockpiling a lot of ventilators. They didn't do it" -- Trump rationalizes the federal government not being able to meet the needs of some of the states

Trump says some remarkably irresponsible stuff about hydroxychloroquin: "What do you have to lose? Take it. I really think they should take it ... try it, if you'd like."

Here is Trump giving potentially deadly medical advice in bizarre, hushed tones

We've reached the point of the briefing where Trump starts attacking female reporters for asking questions he doesn't like

Trump concludes on grim note: "We're coming to a time that's going to be very horrendous, probably a time like we haven't seen in this country, wouldn't you say? ... We're getting to that point where it's going to be really some very bad numbers."

Here’s Trump confusing whistleblowers with ventilators

Methinks were the US trials to prove successful in making a vaccine, the left would be devastated in case it would help re-elect the Donald. The left would rather see people die if it helps their cause! Is that the depravity the Dems have slunk to?

Let the readers note that once again Angelo opines with what he fantasizes his enemies would do, and, surprise surprise! It's hyperbolic, libelous and completely untrue.

Angelo works to separate the world into "us" and "them" and makes every effort demonize the "them" at every opportunity, even when it requires that he go off topic to do it.

There is a great deal of psychology written about this, and how it is necessary for them to do this othering and demonization so that they don't have to face their own role in the destruction of society. The psychologists report that this makes them feel powerful and important and that they have a compulsive need to maintain this sense of power, even if it requires fabricating stories to do so. Indeed, this is exactly the behavior that is necessary for a genocide to happen.

Angelo - you have absolutely no evidence to support your fantasy about what "The Left" would do. Moreover, there is significant evidence against it. Please stop making up negative stories about us. It makes you look like a sociopath - and if you are not a sociopath, I assume you would appreciate the advice on how not to look exactly like one.

It is quite the mental maneuver to somehow use a failing of Trump's reaction to the epidemic as a tool against The Left.

Well you just want Americans to die, instead of Trump beating the virus.

Umm... no. We are pointing out that Trump failed to react appropriately to the virus and a lot of people are dying now. We, the left, didn't want that.

This is pretty much a repeat of Iraq.

Oh, you just want W to fail in Iraq and for troops to die.

As if what "we want" has any bearing on the events outside. If what "we wanted" mattered, Trump wouldn't have become President.

Opinion | Has Anyone Found Trump’s Soul? Anyone? - The New York Times
After mentioning George Bush II and Barack Obama after some national calamities,
One more question: Do you remember the moment when President Trump’s bearing and words made clear that he grasped not only the magnitude of this rapidly metastasizing pandemic but also our terror in the face of it?
Author Frank Bruni hasn't noticed any such thing.
Americans are dying by the thousands, and he gloats about what a huge, rapt television audience he has. They’re confronting financial ruin and not sure how they’ll continue to pay for food and shelter, and he reprimands governors for not treating him with adequate adulation.

He’s not rising to the challenge before him, not even a millimeter. He’s shriveling into nothingness.

...
This is more than a failure of empathy, which is how many observers have described his deficiency. It’s more than a failure of decency, which has been my go-to lament. It’s a failure of basic humanity.

...
But what has taken me by surprise and torn me up inside are the aloofness, arrogance, pettiness, meanness, narcissism and solipsism that persist in Trump — that flourish in him — even during a once-in-a-lifetime emergency that demands something nobler. Under normal circumstances, these traits are galling. Under the current ones, they’re gutting.
Like his saying “I don’t take responsibility at all.” And “Did you know I was number one on Facebook?”

Where's the link to the story in "Science"?

Does it have to be in the Science journal? Why doubt this report while not questioning say, the New York Times?

Why are you bringing up the Times, when you link to the Post, which isn’t suitable for fish-wrap?

Your linked article claims there’s something in “Science”; where is it?

It's junk. Like most of angelo's "sources". It references the San Diego tribune, where the real nature of this discovery is more accurately described:
"An antibody called CR3022, produced by a patient in response to the coronavirus that causes SARS, also binds to the new coronavirus that causes COVID-19. This suggests that there’s a specific region of the virus to target with drugs.
(Courtesy of Meng Yuan and Nicholas Wu of the Wilson lab)
The discovery could help target a weak spot in the virus with strong drugs"

Of course the Post makes it sound like they found a drug that zeroes in on the virus' weak spot, which is not the case. They simply found a binding site that would be worth investigating as a target for some hypothetical drug or drugs of the future.
Fucking Post highlights "San Diego Tribune" as if it was a link, but there is no link. Guess they don't want their readers like angelo to discover that they're misrepresenting the truth again.

MAGAdiots could do a great service to the country by donating the neutronium in their skulls to the military.

The article does cover the issue fully, if not misadvertising it. The article notes that while there is a potential Achilles heel that has been found, taking advantage of it isn't exactly going to be simple.

Did you hear a large boastful amount of laughter an hour or so ago? That was the Trump Administration at it again.

White House trade adviser, yeah... trade adviser had a doozy.
article said:
White House trade adviser Peter Navarro had a heated exchange with CNN anchor John Berman on Monday after Navarro argued that his training in statistical studies as an economist made him qualified to disagree with health experts on the use of the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine to treat the novel coronavirus.

"Doctors disagree about things all the time. My qualifications in terms of looking at the science is that I'm a social scientist," Navarro told "New Day" anchor Berman. "I have a Ph.D. And I understand how to read statistical studies, whether it's in medicine, the law, economics or whatever."
Yeah, I know, someone in social sciences thinking that makes them qualified to discuss about actual science. The laughter from science PhDs was allegedly deafening in parts of the Northeast and West Coast, or at least that is what people are saying. Could be true, maybe not. You should look into it.

He also seems to discredit the social sciences field by saying his education in the field made him qualified to understand the statistical significance of medical studies. If that were true, he would have known that the study that seemed to speak in Trump's drug of favor's favor... was statistically insignificant.

That he didn't notice that, either means he is lying or incompetent. Neither seems a favorable answer for the country.

A vaccine wouldn't be ready until over a year. Trump will be out of office and hopefully in prison by then.

Acting Navy secretary blasts ousted aircraft carrier captain as 'stupid' in address to ship's crew
https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/06/politics/uss-tr-crozier-modly/index.html

(CNN)The Acting Secretary of the Navy Thomas Modly blasted the now ousted commander of the USS Theodore Roosevelt as "stupid" in an address to the ship's crew Monday morning, in remarks obtained by CNN.

...

In remarks that were piped over the vessel's PA system, Modly suggested Crozier leaked the memo on purpose or was "too naive or too stupid" to be in command if he didn't think that sending it to over 20 people would not result in it getting out to the public.

...

"If he didn't think, in my opinion, that this information wasn't going to get out to the public, in this day and information age that we live in, then he was either A, too naïve or too stupid to be a commanding officer of a ship like this," Modly said. "The alternative is that he did this on purpose."

Modly went on to say it was a "betrayal of trust, with me, with his chain of command."

A betrayal? Is it possible to betray a group of people who are betraying the sailors on that ship? That captain is a hero for taking action that would save lives knowing that he was likely sacrificing his career.

This acting secretary sounds to much like Trump to whom any act that holds him accountable is a betrayal.

Fuck the Navy acting secretary.

Trump fired the last Secretary for being too hard on a war criminal.

Man, the Navy must feel real stupid for putting such an idiot in charge of an aircraft carrier.

This Modly guy sounds like a professional Navy man. How long he serve in the Navy? I'm sure it was much longer than that idiot who apparently managed to fool everyone into letting him run an aircraft carrier.

Judging from SCROTUS's pardons of Michael Behenna, Clint Lorance, Eddie Gallagher et al.... all Capt. Crozier has to do, to be reinstated, is to:
1- quarantine & recover from Covid 19 as per the Trump postcard...
2- visit some other country, whether it's Afghanistan or who knows...
3- allegedly kill a naked prisoner, or allegedly stab a prisoner who is under a medic's care, or allegedly open fire on civilians...
and most important...
4- get mentioned on Fox News (a must).
5- ALLEGEDLY.

He's a ring-rapper. 7 years in uniform. Helo pilot.

Man, if i had ANYTHING to do with the CO's relief, or his cause for writing the memo, the Roosevelt would be the last place i would go....

I doubt he is on the ship, otherwise, he might accidentally been routed over to the Covid-19 wing of the carrier.

What's a ring-rapper?

A West Point (or other military college) graduate.

Ahem, West Point grads are called Ring Knockers. Naval Academy grads are generally referred to as "losers" or something similar. I don't really know, I don't talk to navy grads often (but when I do I ask for large fries).
