They've been led to believe that the biggest corruption scandal in the history of Washington DC was Hunter Biden's laptop. That the biggest threat to America is the massive stampedes of trans people going into school bathrooms to molest children and of immigrants coming to both take jobs away from Americans and also lazily sit around collecting welfare.

As I alluded to above about my FB exchange with my (otherwise nice) friend, the indoctrination is staggeringly effective. When the price of prescription drugs skyrockets thanks to Trump removing the pricing restrictions put in place by Biden, these folks will probably blame Biden. The painfully obvious Nazi salute from the grandson of Nazis has already been hand-waved away, and even older Americans who remember WWII are missing all the obvious cues. A populist leader telling them that there needs to be a return to "greatness." That the people holding back that return are the minorities and the "other." The rallies where everyone wears the same clothes (red hats instead of brown shirts) and chants slogans praising the leader. The leader saying he'll annex territories that "rightly belong" to the nation. The leader promising to round up people and put them into camps.

Propaganda works. It always has. Unfortunately the lady you exercise with and your neighbor don't see it, like the lonely older men (and women) who fall for the romance/pig-butchering scams and lose all their money. I'm sure they're nice people, too.

For example, the 81 year old woman who I exercise with along with another one who is in her 70s and the neighbor across the street from me. He is the most caring neighbor I've ever had. He even once came over and mowed our lawn, just to be nice, and he rescued us when our car had a blown out tire downtown. He once told. us that he hated both Trump and Biden. That was before Biden dropped out, but then he told us he voted for Trump. Seriously. The two women I mentioned get their fake news from Fox or Newsmax, so that is one reason why so many otherwise kind, decent people voted for the felon.
