Pan fried ribeye steak (medium rare and well seared/caramelised on the outside and perfectly pink in the middle) with par cooked potatoes, carrots and corn that were then sauteed in the butter left over from sautéing the mushrooms in butter!
I would pay $40 for such a dinner!
Those are still around? I haven't seen them in years. Popular when I was a kid. IIRC, if you pour the pixie stix contents into a coke, it will create a foamy coke geyser. A good trick to play when you see an annoying kid holding a bottle of Coke.pixy stix
My last job was in retail. Part of my job was to order candy. There are still vendors that sell old brands that I thought were gone. Those are still around? I haven't seen them in years. A sure sign that these are wise things to consume.Popular when I was a kid. IIRC, if you pour the pixie stix contents into a coke, it will create a foamy coke geyser.
Polenta is a nice alternative to potatoes. Serve with a marinera or fresh parm cheese.I order some Quaker Oats grits. I keep hearing about it. Corn based. Never had them. I thought I'd try it as a substitute for mashed potatoes that are not great if you're trying to avoid kidney stones.
It's going to be more like polenta or the small kind of couscous. It gets gooey though, especially if you add some cheese. I do like some cheesy grits. If you like cauliflower, I've heard that it makes a good mashed potato substitute... but I've never been able to get past the cauliflower aroma. You might consider cream of wheat, just use a bit less water than it calls for.I order some Quaker Oats grits. I keep hearing about it. Corn based. Never had them. I suggest an oven.Trying to figure how I'm going to cook a London broil that I picked up.
