Big Mistakes on Netflix 8/10

This is good fun. Dan Levy and Taylor Ortega work great together as brother and sister and I don't give enough credit to Laurie Metcalf, she does quite well in her role as the mom.
They are half hour shows. I ended up binge watching it in one evening. I stayed up until nearly 10PM!
 
I ran across The Americans by accident and now I can't let it go. Pretty much literally. There are images from that show I can't unsee, but it is very good.

Unless you consider that there are only 24 hours in a day and the time spent in adopting multiple disguises in a day, and swapping cars, would pretty much use those 24 hours and not leave much time for espionage and murdering people, in amongst family time.

Taken with a grain of salt, brilliant show.

I love that show. Yes, the main characters and the Soviets in general seem to often possess capabilities that would be nearly impossible, it is an intriguing insight into Cold War espionage. I figure it has to be good when I'm all in on rooting for Soviet spies.
 
American Horror Story (season two: Asylum).

I hadn't watched this since its original airing some 14 years ago. I remember liking it then and my opinion hasn't changed. The pace is amazing and each subplot is interesting. It's also creepy as hell, the special effects are great, and each actor is perfectly cast. If you like horror and haven't seen this, I can't recommend it enough.

It's amazing how quickly the series plummeted into the toilet following the first two seasons. The third season, Coven, set the standard of unwatchability that became AHS. 1984 was okay and the super extended tribute to Rosemary's Baby in season 12 was tolerable despite giving Kim Kardashian a prominent role. I don't pay much attention to the Kardashian clan, but good god, Kim is a terrible actress.

Whatever. Season 1 and 2 are classics.

In times of stress and anxiety we retreat to comfort shows. So we’re rolling through The Office, Bob’s Burgers, Archer, Letterkenny, and the occasional preside of Supernatural.

If you count it as “shows”, we’ve got several YouTube channels that we watch regularly: Clint’s Reptiles, Casual Geographic, Fat Electrician, The China Show, Unsubscribe Podcast, Veritasium, True Facts with Ze Frank, and some others I can’t remember.

Hubby has responsibility for the remote, and I’m not picky. So it’s an eclectic selection.
 
Reacher Season 4, 7/10; Reacher gets caught up in a plot to sell chemical weapons after he tries to help a distressed woman on the train who kills herself. It's a pretty good watch but some of the action scenes are a bit far fetched, particularly in the final episode.
 
Derry Girls 8/10

The misadventures of four high school girls plus one English boy in Derry, Northern Ireland. Some of the humor doesn’t land because of cultural differences (although I did catch a totally unexpected Bobby Sands reference) but on the whole it’s quite funny, with several episodes causing repeated LOLs.

Once you make it past the first season, it's pretty good. But that first one was rough, with horrible lighting.

I have heard some good things about the show but it doesn’t sound like something I would like based on plot descriptions. But I do like a well done show regardless of plot if other factors are good. What is so good about this show?
