At least 8 dead in Mass Shooting du Jour

I'm just going to bump this for the latest (non-school) mass shooting in America. This time at a mega church. No one died, other than shooter. Jesus refuses to show up to answer a few questions.

I won't mention the type of gun used, as that triggers some into a posture of self-defense. But yeah, it was one of those.
 
Looks like the shooter might have been transgender and pro-Palestine... so maybe there is a new thread about it by other parties.

This does not even qualify as a mass shooting, even by the most inclusive definition of one. One fatality (by police), two wounded (unclear who shot them). AT most it's an attempted mass shooting, and a poorly attempted one at that.
I won't mention the type of gun used, as that triggers some into a posture of self-defense. But yeah, it was one of those.

I see you still don't understand what "triggering" means. Second, you just mentioned it - obliquely but still clearly.
I will just say that despite the shooter using a rifle, she was still unable to cause significant casualties.

'Antisemitic writings' found in search of Joel Osteen megachurch shooter's items

“Antisemitic writings” were found in a search of items belonging to the shooter who opened fire Sunday afternoon at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Houston, according to law enforcement.
The woman, identified as 36-year-old Genesse Ivonne Moreno, was carrying an assault-style rifle with the word “Palestine” written on it, according to two senior law enforcement officials briefed on the matter.
A motive for the incident is still not clear, but police said they believe she acted alone and has a documented history of mental health problems. Police said there was a dispute between Moreno and her ex-husband’s family, some of whom are Jewish, may be related to the shooting, Houston Police Commander Chris Hassig said in a news briefing Monday.

When it first happened, some have speculated that the shooter was MAGA/white supremacist because the shooting happened before the Spanish language service at the mega church. I guess not.
 
Some dumb mother fucker shot up the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Celebration Parade.
 
1 dead so far, and at least nine injured. 3 people in custody and counting (more arrests coming, apparently).

There's footage, if anyone wants to see it out there, but it's not informative in anyway, and last I looked, the identities of the shooters haven't been released yet.

Just checked the updates: 18 shot, of whom 9 were children.
 
At the Kansas shooting site, there were 800 armed policemen attending.

Yet, none of these Good men with guns mattered as the shooters sprayed the area
with bullets. Another beloved NRA myth busted but good. We need more guns so
good men can shoot the bad men with guns. Yeah, a gun fight in a massive crowd.

From what I could see in a video, one of the shooters was a little black gang
banger in a hoodie, tackled by a crowd. I will not be surprised to learn the shooters
all have records.Good guys with guns don't matter when a brain damaged
gang banger decides to start shooting.
 
Reporting still doesn't seem to be certain what happened. Two possible gunman, a third person armed but seemed to be concealed (and this being America, that doesn't actually mean anything).
 
I think the MSM just needs to get out ahead of this and declare them domestic terrorists that are all white supremacists and MAGAts. I mean, the truth doesn't seem to matter when they want to jump on the islamic/trans/boogeyman-du-jour in other situations, why should it matter now?

You are correct. As far as the statistics are concerned, the number of bullets that went through people wasn't high enough to classify this as a mass shooting. It was merely a mass firing. Thankfully so, but much like the burned out Sanders supporter shooting, it seems we tempt the fates a bit too much and have to count blessings when the projectiles generally miss the people they were indiscriminately meant to kill.

I suspect it was irate Kansas residents, mad at Missouri for stealing their winning Superb Owl team.

Or irate Missouri residents, mad at Kansas for taking credit for their city's victory.

I was thinking it could have been Trump supporters mad at Taylor Swift, but while they are heavily armed, and mad (in all senses of the word), they must be blameless here, because they are still wandering around Kansas, looking for where those wily Swift fans have hidden the eponymous City.

So a small group of people had a fit and did what people having a fit do... something really stupid. Well thank goodness they were armed, or otherwise they'd have started pushing people out windows!

I wonder what the math says, regarding being armed being a relative risk/benefit to the possessor and those around them.

No you don't and neither does anyone else. We all know goddam good and well that having a gun or being around guns or people who have guns, puts you in more danger, not less.

The news say it was likely over a personal dispute, not any exceptional strigiform.

Seems like some gang shit to me. Especially with two of the suspects being "juveniles".

There is a Kansas City, KS. It is just across the state line from the other one.
Also, I doubt these shooters were "heavily armed" in the sense that is used in threads like this one. A 9mm handgun each is most likely.

It's not luck, it's the shooter. That plays a much bigger role than the type of weapon, unless we are dealing with a perp shooting people at a distance, like the Vegas shooting from a few years ago.
