Well... it's Trump... again. #47, here we go.

The ICE has certainly done a u-turn in behaivour in an astoundindly short period of time.
I see no U-turn. I see them becoming more open in their evil, but they have been far from upstanding for a long time.
What do you call “a long time”?
Prior to 2016, evil behavior was frowned upon within ICE and CBP. There were some cowboys in their midst but their cruel behavior was not endorsed from the top. The change under President Fucktard was almost instantaneous and very palpable, even to us as suppliers.

What is a 'misdemeanor'? People talk about "High crimes and misdemeanors" as if only the most serious crimes warrent impeachment.
But when I looked up misdemeanor, it says "less serious" like graffettii. Rump has commited a ton of misdemeanors. "Gross Incompatence" should be enough. Breaking his oath should be enough.

Offenses not covered by criminal law, those that would be considered a violation of his oath of office; neglecting his duty as president, abuse of power. It is taken from English law. It is not to be confused with criminal misdemeanors.

Is Chuck finally growing a pair?

Too little IMO. The Dems need to block everything and anything until they get answers.

I'm sick to death of the anti-Schumer crap. The guy was able to get a second reconciliation bill out of Congress in one year. That was unprecedented. If it weren't for him, Biden would have had almost no legislation to sign.

There are laws and protocols. Schumer knows the lay of the land.

Trump Admin lawyers making frightening statements in front of the Supreme Court.
article said:
Sauer said the “snap judgments on the merits” from several U.S. District Court judges, who have issued temporary injunctions preventing the Trump administration from implementing the president’s order, are “exactly the problem.”

“The suggestion that our position on the merits is weak is profoundly mistaken,” Sauer said. Wrapping up the government’s appeal to the court, he added: “The vision of the district courts that’s reflected in the issuance of these nationwide injunctions is a vision of them as a roving commission to correct every legal wrong that they can consider and to exercise general legal oversight over the executive branch.”
This is how he finishes. How dare the courts do their job! Getting straight into dictatorship stuff. This is so much bigger than the case they are actually trying here. This is a really big cog that needs removing to help end our Democracy.

MAGAts created an app for fellow MAGAts to find and use businesses who are MAGA and Trump supporters.

Some are now using the app and Tik Tok/Reddit to inform people of those businesses to promote boycotts against them.

Did anyone have "accepts bribe to accept Mexican cartel leader and his whole damn family into the US" on your bingo card?

I think the takeaway from SCOTUS yesterday is that they are going to do the new 21st Plessy SCOTUS take on legal review. Much like the immunity case, they are going to ignore all the arguments (particularly the awful ones that the Trump Admin lawyers presented) and rule in a much broader way that wasn't quite up for grabs to limit the power of lower courts (they disagree with). Fucking Kavanaugh suggesting class action suits to manage Civil Rights cases. This is our 21st Plessy Court that'll imagine all of these possible alternatives, regardless how nonsensical they are, to put forth their political agenda. .

But hey - there won't be nearly as much disagreement in the future on how to pronounce "Roberts" as there is today on how to pronounce "Taney"...

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) – A man in Rhode Island bought his wife a Donald Trump-branded watch as a gift, but what they got was a “Rump” watch due to an unfortunate typo on the watch face.

Tim Petit paid $640 for a limited-edition Trump watch that is only one of 250 made.

“I thought it was really nice. It was beautiful, and I knew it would be something that she’d like,” he said.

Petit bought the watch after hearing an ad for it on the radio, featuring Trump himself.”

These people will buy anything! I'll wear a team jersey or a motorsport driver jersey (go Veekay!), but I'm not wearing Democrat or worse yet, a candidate's merchandise.

This Rachel Maddow show is a compendium of recent Trumpist evil. If you have any acquaintances who aren't sure that Trump is one of the most vile and disgusting humans to ever live, insist that they watch this.

Among many other items Ms. Maddow mentions that Trump and Musk have targeted the FAA and that recently we've seen failures in air traffic control. Is there a cause-effect relationship?

Maybe not, but the future of FAA doesn't look promising.

the list [of FAA layoffs] apparently targeted probationary workers with less than a year's service. There are now reports circulating that the net might have been cast a little wider than that. Apparently recently promoted employees become designated as probationary so they can be reassigned to their former jobs if the new gig doesn't work out. That means some of the layoffs hit veteran employees with years or decades of experience who were in high-ranking positions.

On January 29, American Airlines Flight 5342 collided with a U.S. Army helicopter near Washington’s Ronald Reagan National Airport, killing 67 people, in the deadliest U.S. air disaster in recent history.... But the next day, President Donald Trump deepened the FAA’s problems by blaming the disaster on diversity programs, a pronouncement that baffled many in the agency’s workforce. At least one senior executive decided to quit in disgust, I was told.
... many jobs with critical safety functions are indeed being sacrificed, with any possible replacements uncertain because of the government-wide hiring freeze. And records I reviewed show that employees classified as eligible for early retirement—and therefore allowed to walk off the job—include aviation-safety technicians and assistants, quality-assurance specialists, and engineers. Meanwhile, the buyouts reach far beyond air-traffic safety, affecting other core elements of the agency.
... SpaceX’s owner, Elon Musk [is deploying] equipment from the SpaceX subsidiary Starlink across the FAA’s communications network. The directive promises to make the nation’s air-traffic-control system dependent on the billionaire Trump ally, using equipment that experts say has not gone through strict U.S.-government security and risk-management review.
...
The FAA’s turn to Starlink as a solution for its aging communications network poses a challenge to a $2.4 billion contract awarded to Verizon in 2023 to upgrade the agency’s network. FAA lawyers have been working 80-hour weeks to figure out what to do—whether they need to cancel or amend parts of the contract or else find the funds to supplement Verizon’s work with Starlink equipment.

The cumulative result is a depleted and demoralized FAA workforce at a time of declining public confidence in aviation safety.

... Inside the FAA, morale is at an all-time low, two agency officials told me. A former senior executive told me that recent events—beginning with the crash and the pressure to take early retirement—have sunk the agency into “complete chaos.”
... Trump’s drive to downsize the federal government, as directed by Musk’s DOGE initiative, is drastically reducing the number of aeronautical-information specialists and other workers in critical safety roles. Interviews and internal FAA records show that as many as 12 percent of the country’s aeronautical-information specialists have been fired or are exiting the agency as part of the government-wide buyout program.

Monday Denver Int'l Airport experienced an outage similar to one that affected Newark. NBC suggests that these problems result from years of under-funding rather than recent Trump-Musk malice; still the anti-FAA Trumpist mayhem hardly seems an appropriate way to counter years of underfunding.

There's more bad news about the FAA but I don't want to filibuster! 8-)

The only $640 watch I've ever bought was a Rolex discounted to $4 or so on a Pattaya sidewalk. But shouldn't a "luxury" item like that get at least a cursory examination before shipment?

Or was it deliberate sabotage by some anti-fascist who wheedled his way into a job at MAGA Watches'R'Us? What is the tRUMP meme about anyway?
