A reasonable theory but it must be remembered that both the right and the left wanted to name the next possibly four supreme court seats. Both ends of the spectrum want the court to decide favorably on their very different concerns. It seems to me that the real change was in the blue rust belt states that voted for Trump by people who were pissed that their manufacturing jobs have vanished.
